Comment of the year
They've got protection in place in case someone overrides their protection. Bar stewards will NEVER put themselves accountable no matter what. A brilliant example when every household is facing record taxation, record food prices, record fuel prices, the feckin illegal TV tax ..... that alone would save the average family £159 a year but good old Doris, AND STARMER TOO would just ignore it and rake in £4 Billion a year of stolen money. All these shytes are in it for THEMSELVES and no other reason.
Well even under the auspices of Erskine May the truth is paramount in parliamentary procedure, so yes this is permitted.
You can't eject liars from the Commons.
The place would be empty.
years ago, a Chief Petty Officer said to me, it doesn't matter who you vote for, it's always the Government who gets in.............. how right he was.
Tory MPs outrage that someone has...

B. Has a backbone

All the same. Country gets what it deserves big time
Hearing MP’s call BoJo a liar and not being made to withdraw the statement because they’re debating if he’s a liar… priceless! Conservatives reacting to the ‘liar’ and not being able to do anything… satisfying beyond belief. The investigation getting passed with Tory backing… best news this week!
What happened to the speaker who can be relied on to defend Johnson. He previously sanctioned Blackford for saying far less. Why did he not interrupt him, warn him and throw him out as he did last time?
@@patrickmccutcheon9361 Because the speaker has to be unbiased. He's not supposed to stick up for the prime minister and he doesn't. This isn't him sticking up for the prime minister because clearly he feels it needed debating.
The rules of the House mean that MPs can't use words like liar or mislead without in any circumstances from whichever side without the speaker or deputy speaker interrupting and making them withdraw the statement.
When the motion for this debate was passed the speaker had to apply for a special notion so that the words like 'liar' could be used. The topic of the debate was clearly the type of debate where those types of words couldn't be avoided, so he had to do that to avoid evicting the majority of parliament.
Saving their asses is all
Truths need to be said. Well done, Ian Blackford!
Yes, like Margret Ferrier - don't throw stones...............
Normal world: Politicians getting upset that their leader IS a liar
UK Tories: Getting upset that someone calls their lying leader a liar
UK is, thanks to brexit and Russian involvement in its elections, filled with Putin and oligarch cronies. Scotland would do best to separate itself from Londongrad-on-Thames.
Didn’t corbyn say he would wipe out student debt? Then after losing said they couldn’t do it. Didn’t Abbott say labour would get 30,000 for 300,000?

Our political system is sooo broken
Such words should be used in moderation in Parliament. But when a PM is so blatantly lying, then it should be possible to call him out.

Or, as I like to think of them, the B squad of the Eton debating team.
The rules of the House have shown that they are hopelessly outdated. MP's should be allowed to call their opponents liers when it has become clear they they have done so, it shouldn't be the case that the person calling out the member (namely Johnson in this case) that has lied be sanctioned, it should be the one who engages in telling such lies that should face consequences for telling such falsehoods. Maybe that would be the biggest legacy of Johnson's scandalous tenure, if it happens
*Liar
Somebody had to be an ass
Sorry.
Just watching Michael Portillo in southern Italy and the gesture for something or someone regarded with distaste must be adapted in Parliament.
There would be no words spoken and just these gestures!. Seriously the UK Parliament has now gone down all the media snake traps which have reduced the Palace of Westminster to a house of dog fights. Russia, Germany ( controller of EUC) China and the haters of Brexit in the USA, and all their oligarchs and multi- billionaires ,must be laughing at the ruin of the ' mother of democracies' due to the personal greed for money, power and ego which IS NOW prowling the corridors of the Palace of Westminster.
Unlike the last time, the clip does not show the unctuous speaker interrupting and warning Blackford before throwing him out. Did that happen again? If so shame on the speaker and the whole bunch of right dishonourable MPs.
@@patrickmccutcheon9361 He didn’t throw him out, nor ask him to withdraw. It was a beautiful moment.
This debate was different from normal rules about calling someone a liar, because that was the reason for the debate.
Could have been worse, could have called him a bellend. Wouldn't be a lie that either.

That is a lie. He's a giant giant bellendian. Don't be harsh on bellends
Now that’s a truth! Boris = Oxygen thief
He is right he IS a liar and a traitor.
It's a sad indictment of democracy in our country where our elected representatives are outraged by someone stating a fact in the House of Commons.
Ian should have said "I apologise for calling the PM a liar. What I meant to say was the PM AND the cabinet are liars"
And Ians Boss... Krankie broke her own mask laws just last week.... SNP MP travelled from London to Scotland while she had Covid, the SNPs own medical adviser to Krankie broke lockdown rules..... Krankie flew to her 2nd home in Portugal at the same time she locked down the Scottish people etc etc.... all Boris did was gave a sandwich in his own house......
So you can't call an mp a liar in the house of commons but you can lie as much as you like to the people that pay their wages the rules need changing asap 🤔

And yes I absolutely don’t like the PM he’s a disgrace. The parties are just the icing on the corrupt rotten cake. He’s done loads of stuff that takes the piss. Like unlawfully closing parliament to help his own agenda out, or award multi million pound covid contracts to his mates and then them either not making what’s been asked or it not being fit for purpose. All at the tax payers expense. Then he has people paying to decorate his flat, did they do that out of the kindness of their heart? No they did it for a favour at another date. That’s corruption. He’s corrupt and a liar and he’s the most powerful man in the country, he should be held to the highest standards. Instead he makes us look like a joke, he actively disrespects us, yet people keep him in and I’ve no idea why. Why support someone who spits in your face? He needs to go and doesn’t need defending with the “they all do it” line because they all aren’t as bad as Boris.
Johnson was not selected as Party leader because of a record of integrity and hard work, he was chosen because of his perceived popularity with the public. What we are seeing currently, is Johnson's transition to resignation. Johnson's problem, I believe, is that he needs to be assured that he will be replaced by one of his "co-conspiritors, so that the lid can be kept in this government's post 2019 machinations. His Party's problem is that, as yet, no one has emerged, who could not be regarded as "guilty by association" with Johnson, who would be as popular with the public, and time is running out.
Public perception of Johnson's handling of the Ukraine crisis improved Johnson's ratings and if the lid could have been kept on his recent "partygate" fine, (assuming he could have avoided further scandals) I believe that it is likely that he would have remained leader and gone for an early election. However we know that further scandals will emerge and therefore, from the Tory perspective, he has to go.
What we saw in this item, was not outrage, but fear. Blackford's "outing" of his lying was hardly intended to improve Johnson's ratings, and those baying MP's can no longer rely on a benign MSM, so they are in a state of panic.
With the Tories it's all about winning elections and holding onto power, time is running out and they have a loose cannon (whose popularity is in decline) as leader. They need both time and maneuverability, hence their repeal of the Fixed Term Parliament Act.
