Pj is obviously the dreamcore queen
Yes
What a monster guitar riff on intro and choruses, and PJ has the power to rise up and scream with it. This reminds me of the Scary Monsters album by Bowie. Artists at the top of the game, not settling for the comfortable, but pushing farther, into the mystic, into the uncomfortable, and sending us back radio waves of euphoria from far out on their journey.
Ah you noticed🤣
PJ Harvey is undoubtedly one of the coolest people in music. A true artist.
We are so lucky to be alive at the same time as PJ Harvey.
I feel the same way.
This comment is cliched and copied for so many artists videos on UA-cam is there not another way to show admiration? Perhaps in a less worshipy obsessive way? I mean she is good but not as if we need to find the well she drinks from and get down on our hands and knees yeah?
2022 and still love this song...will I stop listening....no...never!
same here. Still listening in 2022. I mean the whole album is fucking fantastic.
Fun fact: When I moved to California in my early teens I met my late cousin in a bouncy castle. We both had July birthdays 4 days apart😎
Me too
😅 You are my Black Heardet Love! 🖤
that riff is simply delicious
docteurmundele That riff, I suppose, must've been sampled from Television's Foxhole
that's completely what I thought
They look similar, but not copy or sample. In my opinion is a influence, like a guitarist style. Sorry for my poor english.
Shame about the drums though.. loose and passionless af
Correction: Ms. Polly Jean is simply delicious!
The song's incredible, and I've loved it more than 10 years, but sometimes I just need to see PJ make an statement just jumping in a bouncy castle.
This song is killer
Still a damn good song in 2020. 🖤
"Black Hearted Love" will be a damn good song in every year for the rest of eternity.
if it's a good song, then it's a good song , no matter when..
2021 over here 🙋🏻
And in 2023... imho music is getting worse with time, so old awesome stuff like this song tends to get better and better with time, like a good wine lol
I love her collaborations with John Parish ❤💕
This song is just mind-blowing. You have to be dead not to feel the allure, heartbreak, and sensuality of this cut.
😂 exactly! when I introduced the song to my friends at the time I realised they are all dead since they felt nothing and frowned upon my favourite song and looked at me as if I'm mad, of course I got rid of those "friends" from my life later on
Terrific riff, one of those so typical of 1970s/80s rock. After some listening I was indeed reminded of _Foxhole_ by Television.
One of my favorite artists. She is in total committed to her art. And her energy just shines from her.
PJ HARVEY IS A GENIUS !
P.J. Harvey in a bouncy castle. Now I've seen everything.
So unreal!
hahaaaaa Awesome!!!!!!
I didn't know I needed such a thing
With John Parish's face on the wall of the castle
In the rain, in the evening I will come again ..
Yet another poem sung from the magnificent HER I've learned to love.
The majority of PJ’s best songs are found in her 5 albums, but this is as good as any she has recorded. Then again, it’s hard for PJ to make a bad song.
I don't think she is capable of writing a bad song.
How is it possible I have never heard this song before! It's unearthly beautiful!! 😯
one of PJ's best songs
this woman is sacred... :-)
One of her best songs.A Masterpiece
Calling it now, in 2023, this will still be a fantastic fucking song!
I love this song so much, I can't stop listening to it.
#metoo
she is pure perfection
The character for this album comes across very manic. Happy and Crazy, but, then dark and depressed.
Seriously one of the best songs ever written. I love all the earlier output but this one just rocks me to my core. Thanks PJH
The riff is amazing! Absolutely love PJ Harvey!
Oh god she's so brilliant. Thank you for being the best modern artists in the world right now! And one of the all time greats might I add!
I love how unslick her videos are, so not in the vein of today's (and the last 15 years) of sleek, huge productions with a bazillion dancers and the whole shebang-instead of an actual idea that carries it. It reminds me of the first big wave of music videos that came out in the early 80's with the birth of MTV, when it was basically a guy with a camera and "Do this", and "Wouldn't it be cool if we did this?"-not always, heh, but it was so pure.
I love her.
grytlappar Great comment :)
You're just not listening to the right music if you think it's all a bunch of dancers, and if you think most songs don't "have an idea that carries them" you don't focus on lyrics very well or listen to a bunch of crap. Turn off mainstream radio and TV broaden your horizons, lol. I mean, "unslick"? That's not even a word. Most heavy metal, "hardcore", and extreme music bands in general have the lack of emphasis on video production I think you're trying to express. Really you can find it within most genres if you take the time.
It's called "Art". Good art is timeless.
Pixies did a video clip, veloria? Off bossanova. Very understated but perfectly fits the song.
This feels like it could be on Dry
Grande Dame Talentueuse !
A powerful riff and vocal, great lyrics and melody!
Absolutely stunning song.
I solemnly swear that after this song I completely divide my life into "before" and "after". This is truly the only one thing that can touch the deepest and the most undisturbed depths of myself. I just have to hope that you, Polly, can read this and be sure that you have at least one more grateful admirer here in Ukraine. And yes, this is pure truth - I will accede that your good-night-songs would suit it best :D
I felt this in America in 2008 also. Cheers!
cant believe this was released in 2009
This song is amazing.
All her music is perfection!
This is too good
Can't stop watching this one.
the best song ever ❤
I came back here in 2022 after reading in my journal from 2011 about listening to this on repeat. Such a passionate song. I can’t help but sing with her.
Yes i love this song, never get bored , deep , soulful , enlightening moving song 👌
As if the song was not spectacular enough ❤ that circular guitar at the end is sooo deliciously hypnotic!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥#Legend #QualitySupreme #GOAT
this song fuckin rocks
I’m jealous of that bouncy kastle because it has PJ Harvey bouncing on it.
The song's incredible, but I've been scrolling through the comments thinking why TF no one is talking about the bouncy castle
This song gives me chills on top of chills!
great tune, great lips ...
Great track and video!
AA: W teledysku do muzyki PJ ujął mnie przede wszystkim dobór prostych środków - można nimi wiele oddać (oświetlenie, woda, ruch). Myślę, że teledysk stanowi rewelacyjne dopełnienie muzyki, ściśle z nią koresponduje i współgra z warstwą emocjonalną piosenki. Trzyma w napięciu - oglądając go mam wrażenie, że odkrywam jakąś tajemnicę.
Best song ever forever
I was thinking of this song for some reason recently and finally I sat down, closed my eyes and gave it a good quality listen and I have to say this is really is an amazingly beautiful composition. There is some really rich guitar work on this track and to my surprise it still sounded just as relevant to me as when I first heard it years ago. " ... and who but my Black Heart ed Love... "
Unique voice, charme and music. Saw her in concert four times and she always astonished us!
I find this a seriously sexy/arousing song. Have always had a thing for her. She's powerful, been thru the ringer and is super laid back. I have massive respect for her. Would be a bumbling mess if I met her
Plus she's a really sweet West Country lass.
Chris Farley: "remember that time you did 50 ft Queenie?" "yeah that was great"
totally agree. it keeps sucking you in. what a talent she is. been listening to her since the late 80's.

Love this one by PJ...still has not lost her edge! Keep rockin' woman!
This riff makes me want to be your husband. I am female. This riff makes me not care.
Poetic
I've listened to polly jean for about 10 years, this song especially hits deep, cannot stop playing GENIUS
I love every song in this album, they are both great musicians! Love you PJ!
Great song, brilliant video and a beautiful PJ.
i love her music.
I love this song ❤️
i love heeeeeeeeeeeeeeer
Inside a dark forest, there is a bouncy castle...
I love PJ. I'm alright with other fans until I'm not.
I absolutely love your music, Polly. What an amazing song!
This is amazing... note that the guitar beginning sounds a lot like jeff buckley’s i woke up in a strange place
I recall some critics panning this as several creative steps backward for Ms. Harvey, but I really enjoyed the one-off break from her not so accessible work of that period. Very fond of her England and Hope Six albums currently...
perfect valentine's day song
Vevo actually made me watch 30 seconds of a Beiber video before this started.... Totally worth it though
Use adblock
I used to listen to this a lot last summer. I really like this song.
Perfect
Who cares about the year, how trivial. The meaning behind...only PJ could put a "spin" on that. What is important is how once again Polly Jean Harvey ROCKS!
I'm just really glad she didn't break her ankle there.
Irresistible as always!
I love this song c:
Couldn't agree more, Psychedelic! So. Damn. Good.
realy good song .... my favorite from album
happy birthday pj ♥️
How much I love this song
blushing to this, quietly
Still a good song in 2023 🖤
Te amo PJ! Since 2005 when I first watched you at Tim Festival, Brazil.
Still a fantastic song in 2023 ❤❤❤
Classic rock song
❤ PJ !
That was TRIPPY!
I've admired your work for years but a friend sent this song to be about 20 minutes ago. I've listened to it about 5 times. Just a gorgeous and haunting song...Just beautiful.
I've been hearing it on SiriusXM a bit lately, nice one.
She is ... exquisite.
i can't listen to this song without visualizing the bouncy house, great video
Why tf this doesn't have at least 10 million views?
Apparently the only song PJ would not change she said in a doco.
Close to 2022, my black hearted love.
"My Black Hearted Love"
I think I saw you in the shadows
I move in closer beneath your windows
Who would suspect me of this rapture?
And who but my black hearted love?
And who but my black hearted love?
When you call out my name in rapture
I volunteer my soul for murder
I wish this moment here forever
And you are my black hearted love
And you are my black hearted love
In the rain, in the evening I will come again
I'd like to take you,
I'd like to take you to a place I know, my black hearted
I'd like to take you,
I'd like to take you to a place I know, my black hearted
I'd like to take you,
I'd like to take you to a place I know my black hearted
I'd like to take you,
I'd like to take you to a place I know, my black hearted
In the rain, in the evening, in the garden, I will come again
In the rain, mouth to mouth again, in the rain...
David Lynch wishes he had PJ in Twin Peaks
