Dimash just (temporarily) moved to the U.S. two weeks ago.
He has now completed his doctoral dissertation and doctoral work and has moved to California to study at the NY School of Fine Arts campus in LA.
He is studying Film Directing.
He just put out a casting call for dancers for his next tour.
He is a force to be reconned with.
You're not wrong about him doing his doctorate or the scholarship to study in the US. That being said, he hasn't confirmed that he has finished his dissertation. He has also not announced that he has started his studies. He went to LA for work this time. He is most likely preparing some personal matters too, but for that we should wait a bit. We should be careful to only share what has been confirmed.
He wants to look after Daneliya :)
I saw him live last year and there's no enough words to describe it. Next May I'll see him live again. It's a once in a lifetime experience. He's an amazing artist but also a beautiful human being

Vou contar-te como foi o meu encontro com o Dimash. No final do concerto de 7 de março de 2020 em Riga (Letónia), eu pedi aos seguranças para levarem uma bandeira de Portugal ao Dimash para ele autografar. Os seguranças foram muito simpáticos e levaram a bandeira. Passados uns minutos apareceu um elemento do staff do Dimash que me disse que não era possível ele assinar a bandeira porque estava de partida para o aeroporto. Deu-me um postal assinado por ele. Fiquei todo contente. E fui também para o aeroporto porque tinha avião às 06:00 da manhã para voltar para Portugal. Cheguei ao aeroporto eram umas 22:30. Eu sabia que o Dimash tinha que ir para o aeroporto, mas imaginei que entrasse por uma porta VIP. Como tinha muitas horas de espera, resolvi deitar-me nos bancos do aeroporto. Por volta das 00:00 acordei com sons de aplausos. Pensei, será que é o Dimash? Olhei para a zona do check-in e vi uma grande multidão. Comecei a caminhar para a zona do check-in. Mais ou menos a 50 metros o Dimash olhou para mim e eu abri os meus braços como a dizer "vais ter que falar comigo". Quando cheguei junto do Dimash (ele estava de máscara) disse-lhe que tinha viajado 8000 km para o ver e ouvir cantar e perguntei-lhe se ele podia tirar uma fotografia comigo. O Dimash nem hesitou um segundo e disse logo "Sure". Saiu do check-in (andou uns 100 metros porque teve que sair pelo lado contrário ao que me encontrava). Quando chegou ao pé de mim, tirou a máscara e sorriu. Tirámos a fotografia. Pedi-lhe uns minutos para lhe dirigir umas palavras (foram aquelas que escrevi no comentário anterior). Enquanto falava, o Dimash esteve sempre em silêncio e a sorrir manifestando um grande respeito por mim. Despedi-me dele e fui a correr para junto da minha mulher que não tinha percebido que eu me tinha separado dela. Quando cheguei junto da minha mulher, ela não queria acreditar que eu tinha tirado uma fotografia com o Dimash. Ela correu imediatamente para o check-in juntamente com uma pessoa amiga que nos tinha acompanhado (fomos 3 de Portugal a Riga para o concerto do Dimash). Quando elas chegaram ao check-in começaram a falar com o Dimash. Uma vez mais ele foi muito generoso e educado com elas. Eu não me intrometi na conversa. Já tinha tido o meu momento com o Dimash e agora era a vez delas. O que fiz foi ir à casa de banho para lavar a cara porque ainda estava meio sob o efeito de ter acordado de repente e ter tido uma experiência meio milagrosa. Quando voltei da casa de banho, a comitiva do Dimash estava a sair do check-in. O pai do Dimash vinha à frente. Por respeito ao pai do Dimash, parei e baixei a minha cabeça. O Dimash ao ver isto saiu do grupo e dirigiu-se a mim (andou talvez uns 10 metros). Agarrou na minha mão direita com as suas duas mãos e disse "Bye sir". Foi uma experiência mística que jamais esquecerei. Com amizade Rui Baptista

The mad thing is, his voice has matured since this show. He just gets better and better.
We've long said he should be doing a James Bond theme song. Battle of Memories that he sang for the movie of the same name sounds very like a James Bond theme.
He may very well be working on a movie OST at the moment, he's been in LA working in the studio with Nathan Wang and Kevin Murphy and visiting with Walter Afanasieff and Stevie Mackey. Walter is an old friend of his and it looks like he's made a new one in Stevie but as Dimash makes friends wherever he goes it's not surprising, he's such a genuine, warm, humble man that everyone seems to be drawn to him regardless of their standing in the music business.

Dimash became better each year. This song is epic but now he has even better songs.
The volume control at all levels. He has like 10 volume levels that he can call up at any time. Igor is responsible for this song. He is the master of drama, at just the right amount of background music to totally support what Dimash is doing, but not overtake him ever. Also, listen to how simple the piano is… single notes, not chords, through much of it.
Yes, the composition seems like simple single notes, but they are deceivingly sophisticated. Like in Know, or Love of Tired Swans. There is dramatic emotional meaning to Russian(regional) piano solos.

I've seen Dimash live in concert twice in the last year. He doesn't even have to sing, his presence alone makes the hall tremble. The music and his singing, his way of dealing with his fans, laughing, but also his position on the situation in the Ukraine make his 3-4 hour shows to unreal nice hours.

@robert: I've seen him several times in the last year, too... I totally agree, the minute he is on stage I'm already moved and amazed before the first note is being sung. It's a unique mixture between pure happiness, huge anticipations as well as being stunned that such an artist really does exist in the flesh... Plus Dimash is just as eager to sing to us as and show his work and all of his craft as we are to listen to him and cheer him on - it's absolutely wonderful and the energy is indescribable. Every single time.

Thank you. Dimash's interpretation of these gorgeous lyrics is incredible. This is just beautiful. It is completely different from how it was sung 30 yrs ago. This is an Igor Krutoy song (on piano). The teaming up of Igor & Dimash is absolute gold. This performance is mind blowing.

Maestro Igor Krutoy (piano) and Dimash presented the song first on Alla Pugachova's 70th birthday on April 2019. She is a famous singer in Russia. The event took place in the Kremlin in Moscow.
Maestro Krutoy composed this song 28 years ago for Alla Pugacheva. Valerya Gorbacheva wrote the beautiful words. Now Igor and Dimash have refreshed the song and Dimash made it his song, incomparably beautiful. The interpretation is completely different from the original. I melt away every time I hear the song.
* Igor Krutoy, *1954 in Ukraine SSR. He lives and works in Moscow/ Russia. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family lives in the US. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.
Krutoy wrote of what working with Dimash meant to him: “How lucky it is to be doing what you love to do, writing for such a brilliantly feeling singer, evoking deep emotion in the audience and being in demand'.

Dimash is going to study at the film academy in Los Angeles this year. And now he works with Walter Afanasiev. Perhaps in the future there are other projects in America.

Being at a live Dimash concert is beyond words, it's simply indescribable. Yes, Dimash has an exceptional gift but please don't forget how much dedication, time and practice he has invested in his instrument, being vocally trained since the age of 5 and still practicing at least 3 hours each day (= what he told in an interview). It's extremely hard work to develop and maintain his talent and natural gifts.

He has already sung for a film. The song is called Across Endless Dimensions, and the live versions are just as good as the official video version.
Another great song of his is Daybreak, the backstory is pretty sad and if you watch it with subtitles, you will be affected. However it climbs the octaves calmly and super impressively. One of my favourites.
Guys, you haven't watched anything yet. Believe me. His latest performance of EL AMOR EN TI / live/ and his MV of THE STORY OF ONE SKY are just out early. You have to see them. He throws the line out there and hooks you in the beginning and reels you in wanting more. I've heard this song hundreds of times and I cry every time, so don't feel weird or awkward about feeling weepy or emotional. 💗 Also, since you mentioned him being a great sound for a Bond movie 🎬, then you should definitely try "Across Endless Dimensions " next if you'd like to hear his voice in all its perfection from movie standpoint. He did that song for an actual movie a couple years ago; the name of the movie escapes me at the moment, but I'm sure someone else can let you know if you're interested in checking it out. 😉

You mentioned it's the best performance you have seen by Dimash. I tend to agree. This is truly beautiful in its vulnerability, which makes it really powerful and heartfelt. I recommend you check out his performance of Ikanaide, which is the Japanese version of the song Autumn Strong that he sang in Mandarin on the show I Am A singer in China. The song was originally composed in Japanese and Dimash did a studio version performance of it for the Tokyo Jazz Festival, which was done in a studio without an audience due to COVID. That performance makes me gasp and brings me to tears every time.

It’s about the way he delivers it all by being so honest in his singing not just trying to impress I think. Another very enjoyable reaction. I have watched this performance countless times over the past year, and I am still moved to tears each time. This will always be one of my favorite Dimash performances. Igor Krutoy (on piano) composed this song 25 years ago for Alla Pugacheva and modified it for Dimash to sing for this concert given in honor of Mrs. Pugacheva on April 8, 2019, in Moscow.
As you probably already know, Igor Krutoy came out of retirement to compose masterpieces for Dimash after watching his performance of Sinful Passion in 2018. He is finally able to compose music without constraints placed on him by the vocal limitations of ordinary singers; high notes, low notes, whatever his genius mind can conceive, Dimash will be able to perform.
Someone explained on another person's page the different elements of the song. There are three sections:
In the first and longest, Dimash addresses the audience, describing his dream-like love.
In the middle section, Dimash lives the dream. Notice he disengages from the audience; his eyes are closed, then he opens them and looks up. The audience has ceased to exist for him.
In the final section, he wakes, notices the audience again, then tells them how the dream made him feel. Which is energized!
