Nailed it chaps, definitely a hotdog. Watching that lass dance from the front reminded me of two Boy Scouts fighting under a blanket, as my dear old Gran used to say.

This is why you guys are cultural icons. You bring us tracks that we think we haven't heard before, but then it turns out we have.
Frankly, I loved this video. Great music, colorful shirts and if you look closely, you can see David Cassidy (The Partridge Family) on lead vocals, and Howard Wolowitz (Big bang theory) peering over David Cassidy's shoulder. This video is a child of its times, these are moments in history that shouldn't be forgotten.
George, was there was a dancer? I think I missed that, probably when I went to turn the kettle off and make a nice cup of tea. I will have to rewatch and focus on said dancer.

David Cassidy is absolutely not the lead singer here.

It was Richard Zehringer. I was about 7 or 8 when this came out. I don't think he even looks that much like David Cassidy. Both were good looking!

@@lisabenneett4735 I was, of course, kidding, same with Howard Wolowitz. However, I do see a resemblance to both. It's probably just the hair cuts haha

The song used to turn up on golden oldie shows when I was a sprog, but I never paid it much mind - to the the extent I thought it was Hang On Snoopy.
In case no-one else has told you, the bad was from Union City, Indiana, and they knocked out 4 LPs twixt '65 and '69. Not sure if they are all the same sort of bubblegum garage. They did do a fantastic single called Don't Worry Mother, Your Son's Heart Is Pure, the flip is Ko-Ko and its a bit pants. Daybreak off the last LP, Human Ball, is class too.

"𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐲 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥" 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧 was picked from a Dance club in LA, California. This was from a Back lot in LA and she was eager to do the dance. She was disappointed when they said this one would never be seen in America. It was for Europe only. Thanks to you tube we finally got to see her.

That got a lot of air play here in Aus at the time - even without the vid. One of those songs that wasn't remarkable but just ran nicely and entertained

Classic track! Lead vocalist looks familiar; why that's Rick Derringer! His lead vocal was overdubbed onto a recording by The Strangeloves out of New York City. Instead of using Derringer's band's name (Rick and the Raiders), the moniker of The McCoys was chosen to try to avoid possible confusion with another band that was known as "Paul Revere and the Raiders."

Wouldn't the BBC change the name of *"CHIP's"* to "*CHAP's"??* Not to confuse the blokes in UK with *Fish 'n Chips.*
*Song:* When I first heard this song in the 1970's (wasn't Iistening to records (45 & 33⅓ RPM) / radio in the 60's). Thought they were singing *Hang On Snoopy.*

I’ve never focused on the drums in it before, but they got really funky. Top stuff!

Well that was a sharp left turn………….not sure that this would be on my Gourmet Menu but each to their own, someone somewhere will love it. Love the ridged crisps not so much the music, maybe there was a reason only one girl turned up to listen? Might make a good hair product advert though.

Well that was a bit random... I remember this from my childhood, it was one of those mid 60's novelty songs. A bit of trivia, it later became the official rock song of the state of Ohio. Here in Canada we have some different chip flavours including; ketchup, Sour cream and onion, bacon, salted beaver, BBQ and of course sweet and sour moose flavour.

Lead singer & guitarist for The McCoys is Rick Derringer. He h I s best know from his 1973 solo hit *Rock and Roll Hootchie Goo.* that song was original recorded for Johnny Winters 1970 album *Johnny Winter And.* In 1970, three members (including Rick Derringer) from The McCoys were in Johnny Winters band. Rick Derringer produced Johnny Winters brothers Eager Winter's 1972 album *They Only Come Out Night* featuring that monster hit *"Frankenstein".* The two McCoy members who were in Johnny Winters band also played on Eager Winter hit *"Free Ride"* from *They Only Come Out at Night.*
Rick Derringer also produced 6 Weird Al Yankovic albums.
Not bad from a bubblegum band.

This was great! I was 12/13 when this song was a hit in the US, so I've heard it thousands of times, but this is the first time I've ever seen this video!! (The first time your channel was recommended to me, also.) I subscribed and will go to your channel to see what other hidden treasures you have. This band was more "dressed up" , following the Beatles suited up wardrobe. Later in the 60's bands began looking more casual. Enjoyed you guys, thanks!

That style of dancing today would be banned in the USA, at least in the bible belt! As the comment on Alex's smile/smirk.

Don't know if I've heard any other songs of theirs, but I always loved dancing around the lounge to this song and a heap of others like it from my big sister's double album of 40's, 50's and 60's hits. It was right up there with the likes of leader of the pack, he's so fine, love potion number 9 and Charlie Brown etc. Good fun dancing songs 💖
Ooh look, I just found this one, a remake of fever the McCoys did. Bit disappointing that it's the same beat as hang on Sloopy and a little bit of the same sax riff can be heard in the background.
    ua-cam.com/video/CwnBBeybzyc/v-deo.htmlsi=bRFgaE83flmgHGOA
I just listened to another track of theirs from 66' called runaway, cos I thought it I had heard it, but the first lines sounded just like Herman's hermits song I'm into something good. So it was a little disappointing, which makes me think they might well have been part of the one hit wonders gang and did rip offs. 🤷‍♀️
