- During the YONEX German Open 2024 I had the pleasure to interview Gronya Somerville from Australia. At the moment Gronya is fighting for a spot at the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris and in Mülheim i caught her in the middle of a 7 week tournament tour around the world.

In the interview she talks about the physical and mental challenges of the tough qualification period, why mixed is in her eyes the most tactical game, Gronya talks about a big project of hers that she started to support badminton players all around the world and she is also up for two fun challenges during the interview!

Gronya hat etwas interessantes angesprochen. Sie fand Turniere in Metropolen am besten, wie zum Beispiel HK, Singapur, Paris, etc.
Weshalb finden große Badminton Turniere in Deutschland nicht in Berlin, München, Köln oder Frankfurt statt?
Gute Frage. Für solche Turniere werden auf jeden Fall immer sehr große Vereine mit vielen volunteers benötigt die bei der Ausrichtung helfen und ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass es deshalb vor allem in den "Badmintonhochburgen" Mülheim und Saarbrücken gut klappt.
I don’t think her attitude for mixed double was right. She can always strive to be fitter, more coordinated and faster or the lady role in her mix partnership, and it will help.
