Mercedes C300 Downpipe Charge Pipe Install

- Upgrading My Mercedes Phase 2 is here! Waited weeks for parts to arrive, once received we put them in the the car right away for a total of 11 hours of work. All parts were put in by my friend Declan and myself.
Car model is 2017 C300 4MATIC Coupe AMG Premium 1. Downpipe was found on Ebay, Charge pipes are from FTP Motorsport, and the Weistec Valvetronic came from VividRacing, I’ll link all parts below!
The valvetronic system is located right beneath the charge pipes originally made of plastic replaced with metal powder coated black ‘V2s’. We also took out the current catalytic converter for a replacement decatted downpipe. What a rust bucket, Im glad its out of my car! Complete with new O2 sensors this allows for better airflow overall throughout the vehicle, notable performance enhancements sound included, better reliability and even gas mileage.. as long as I’m not romping on the pedal.

without the catalytic converter does the car smell? did you lose performance did you lose performance did you have low revs?
Did you have a warranty while doing this and if so were you able to get any warranty work done?

Hey Benji at the 5:35 mark it looks like you have 2 O2 sensor spacers. Are 2 O2 sensor spacers needed to get rid of the check engine light? I just installed mine yesterday with only 1 O2 sensor spacer (I bought the spacer and downpipe from your video description link) and the CEL came on. Would adding a second O2 spacer remove the CEL? Thanks
Hey! I do have both of them on my DP right now. The CEL remains on and I can shut it off with my tune. I enjoy having my tune bc i can run the diagnostics on the car to make sure that the CEL isn’t something to worry about. It’s nothing to worry about, the only way I know to keep the CEL off is going to be.....
if you save the code that the CEL gives you upon running diagnostics. You can save that code and have it automatically delete. That is how my CEL stays off for awhile unless I tear up the road and push the vehicle. I hope this helps!

I can't confirm or deny that one! I would check out burgertuning.com if you are looking for something similar. They will assist you with the model of your vehicle.
That downpipe link said it doesn’t fit 4matic. That’s the same one? I’ve been looking for a while so I was hyped you posted this! Let me know cause I’m going to buy that ASAP!

I would definitely have someone help push the underside as someone is pushing from the top. That’s how it finally popped into place.

No engine damage, and total hp should be around 350. I would not mess with you car if you have a fix that needs to be repaired!

@@MrBg-yw7gv thank you so much this means a lot!! I still have yet to remove the 2nd cat!! Can’t wait for that day!! But I put everything in it with my friend Declan in his garage lol. Tbh once you start taking apart the pipes like when I did the charge pipes and the cool air intake it leads right up to the turbo and it just gets screwed over the turbo. I’m fairly new to maintaining Mercedes, I know a little bit but not a mechanic by any standards lmao secondary cats should assert burbles. But my tune hasn’t been calibrated to the fullest yet either. Haven’t ran logs. That could give me some rn even. Crazy to hear like cold start burbles and low gear pops in a 300!

@@BenjaminJBSmith Instructions unclear. Clamp flew off and now I think I broke it. Oh well, stuck with an open downpipe now 🙃
@@boostedbenz5800 there should be a screw you’d have to loosen to allow for movement to start. it’s pretty tight on there to start so yeah I gave it a few taps with a hammer to loosen it and it came off. I’m sorry to hear about this
@@boostedbenz5800 also the clamps aren’t necessarily connected because they need space to tighten so if it’s not a full circle don’t stress. It shouldn’t connect so that you have room for tightening
What is the actual part that makes the burbo whistle?

Weistec Valvetronic for my car. Its a more open passage way for airflow from the turbo to the cool air intake.

Anahg great question. Yes. Code 0133 for the O2 sensors IS going to pop up. You have 3 options; either way it is not harming the vehicle!
Option 1: you can read the code and delete it and the check engine light is off. It will only turn on when your floor it and blow an O2 sensor, not a bad thing & it’s bound to happen. Being that the car has new O2 sensors it can turn the CEL on.
Option 2: leave the CEL on and it will not make a difference.
Option 3: (the tune is how I can tweak the car and make sure the CEL doesn’t come back on) you can read the code and save it so it is auto deleted and it won’t pop up again.
I haven’t done this yet, because, I am not done tweaking my tune to optimal performance. Then I will save the 0133 error code and make sure it doesn’t show up again.

Benji Taught wouldnt you be able to use a o2 sensor extension to not get a CEL if lets say you leave the car stock for a while? Thats what people told me to use
MrBg1991 correct, however they aren’t going to be the stock O2 sensors so I think that’s why it causes CEL to turn on. I believe saving the codes and deleting them would be a solution. There’s no problem with the vehicle, it’s just the new O2 sensors that should be set as the new default. How? By saving them deleting the codes. I have extenders myself and it still comes up. If I can find an indefinite solution I’ll definitely spread word, as of right now I haven’t even been able to save it and then keep it off. Seems to come on every 3 days or so after driving. Then I’ve deleted it again.

It doesn’t smell bad but there is a new odor it lets off yeah. It’s going to be a little more than usual some ppl say it smells like a diesel but I disagree. In short yes a smell may come about.
Just got the downpipe bro, im really wondering tho before i install because you had it for a while now, does it smell like gas when you drive around.
It doesn’t smell like gas to me but there is definitely a smell that came from one of my mods. If you have any car homies ask them what they think about the odor.
yes that is normal after changing your downpipe. you will definitely smell the exhaust now

The reason for the smell is the unburned fuel because you remove the catalytic converter. If you want catless down pipes this is just how your car will smell, there's no way around it unless youget catted down pipes. You also will not pass smog in certain states. Putting these parts on a C300 or any non AMG car is just a waste of time and money in my opinion and yields very little power gains if at all. Down pipes and tunes are meant for AMG motors that have the internals to handle all this and that actually get big power gains otherwise you're just doing this for show and sound.

@@johnfitch5365 after talking with my automobile homies, the dp doesn't add hp by just having that alone. With the combo of my tune, inlet & outlet mods that is where the power comes in. The dp is mainly just for the sound, all in all I have gained about 50 hp (15-20%) more. from 250hp to 300.

I have the 2019 C300 AMG estate (258hp) wıth the U21 option (dualpipe exhaust) and I have removed them both plus the first silencer coming from the back replaced it with double silencers from the back with remote control to open and close it plus 70 millimeter stainless steel pipe replacing the silencers . When i open the silencers and put the car on sportplus modus the car becomes a true AMG.
With the pops and bangs when the car shifts through gears.
I didn't go for the downpipe and sportcat because the sound is loud enough now, I can send pictures and a video of the cold start of the car if you like.

I'd say there's no point in doing this to a c300. Go get an amg c43 instead, but this install was pretty cake walk. Doing the down pipes on my amg C63s was nightmare compared to this.

It does sound nice for a 4cyl. I just meant that if one is going for power purposes then the 4cyl isn't the most power efficient platform to start with.
