I appreciate that you walk through each note, but still emphasize that this is a song to be played loud, fast, and with your own feeling. "Once you've learned the shape and style, you just gotta hammer it out and drive it home." Great tutorial.
I've had a talent crush on Brian James ever since I heard this solo... when I heard this solo. (Don't want to be like "I was listening to the dead kennedys in diapers). The bend on the g-string, double-stop B & high-E two frets down riff used to drive me crazy, because I couldn't figure it out. I'd go around "hey, do you know that Chuck Berry/peak Punk Rock riff?" and then try to sing it. When I was all NYHC at the age of two, the internet wasn't really a thing.
Well explained for those who already understand rock guitar. I don't mean to sound nasty. I get frustrated listening to someone hold my hand through AC/DC licks when I can play Iron Maiden. At the same time, we could stand a few more kids getting slowly walked through The Damned and not cutting their teeth on Green Day. Regardless, nice job.
Great work mate and excellent timing posting the video. Was just starting to learn it for playing with my band and stumbled across this. Would have taken me a bit longer to figure it out on my own - cheers!
alternative to the 3rd finger stretch is to do that bend using your pinky on the 5th fret, adding your 3rd finger on the 4th fret to boost the strength for the bend.
Brian & Capt would be proud 🫡

Thank you Sky. Completely agree, it’s all about feeling - Get your foot on the gas and burn it to the ground! ✌️
The damned were the first band I saw back in 1984. How come I’ve spent decades learning jazz on guitar. What was I thinking ?
Good lesson. 👍🏿
Finally, a comprehensive lesson on a great tune
Glad you Liked it Sean. peace
