I'm 57 years old and was having palpitations for the first time a couple years ago and I was like what the heck is this. Went to a cardiologist. Put a monitor on me to check for AFib but couldn't find anything wrong. Like you said it might be stress. I know that's a scary feeling.
1) your content is very good. Your editing gets better every vid. Your fans love watching your show. 2) I’m sure you’ve researched all the techniques to get that break through in your viewership and sponsorship. I think 23 mins is the sweet spot. 3) take good care of your health. If the doctors don’t find anything physical then yes, stress is a very real and serious thing. Like PTSD. But get the physical possibilities out of the way first. Keep us posted on that! Take care!
I like your content. As far as van life if you don't like or struggle with walking actually depends upon how big of van you want to have. A mini van can pretty much park and go where cars go. Granted, they don't have the room of a full sized van. However, everything in life is a compromise. Not criticizing, just saying. Ok, so like I said, I like your content, so if you keep it coming I'll keep watching.
Hi,, If you have an Apple watch you can take an ekg when you have an event like you had the other day. Catching an arrythmia that happens rarely isn't easy and when you see your doctor, he/she may have you wear a monitor for a few days. If you have this arrythmia while on the monitor it's great but often you won't have a problem with the monitor on. The smart watch is always with you and if you catch the problem, your doctor will have a lot to go on. Cheers and good luck.
Hope you get some clarity to your medical issues, in the Netherlands we say “beterschap” which is a single word for get better soon. I think you deserve to do this fulltime as you’re really good at showcasing the prettiest and most interesting places.
Caffeine withdrawal that fast can be the culprit behind a lot of the physical distress you describe. Sorry to hear of it. Thank you for the very fine photos.
A lot of people will tell you a lot of stories and will give you lots of "advice" from their own medical experiences and from still other stories they've heard. The fact is that the symptoms you've experienced are not to be taken lightly or slowly. High blood pressure, a sensation of a rapid heart beat (which could be an irregular beat that gives the sense of being rapid), and a sensation of facial paralysis are cause to see experts. Just "going to the doctor" isn't enough. Most important is to be an active, not a passive, patient. Vet your doctors and seek second- and third opinions. Be assertive with the doctors and insist on diagnoses instead of the blind "try this" and "try that" low-cost, low-effort, slow approach. Although many diagnoses are diagnoses of exclusion (rule out what something is not to narrow it down to what it is), insist on definitive tests when you can. For example, insist on an MRI when an MRI is the best test to have but is avoided because of higher cost. Where you can, bring someone with you to all appointments to help listen to what is said and to remind you of what to say. Record your appointments, whether you ask permission or not. Prepare a list of what you want to ask and say at your doctor appointments, because you will forget. Do your own extensive research on your symptoms and condition, and be mindful of the credibility of the sources of your information. You have to manage your own care, while the doctors provide the medical services that require a license. Keep a clear history of your medical events and test results. I recommend a table where information can be grouped and sorted for different views as needed. You are at an age where all of this will matter now and down the road, and your life is too vibrant to neglect your health and medical care. I wouldn't bother to type all of this if I didn't think you were an intelligent, capable, and reasonable man. I hope all of this effort that I mentioned will result in zero health concerns at this time, and if so, don't let a benign outcome discourage your diligence. Your life could depend on it. P.S. I recommend against addictions of any kind (including caffeine). No addiction is a healthy one. I also recommend that you do some research on sleep deprivation/disturbance and dementia.
i watched your video on my lunch today. i so enjoy your videos. i have some thoughts on some things you said. as far as the heart, i hope it is something easily resolved. my heart beats to fast and i take a beta blocker. mine would be like 110 sitting in my office. my resting was always pretty much over a 100. if you have any anxiety then one can affect the other. the heart affects the anxiety and the anxiety affects the heart. you mentioned your job and i am thinking you work in state or federal govt. have you looked at other job openings to see if there might be something less stressful or at least different? also if state or federal, maybe satellite offices not right in boston would be easier to access. i know you would need to keep your hybrid schedule but it might be worth checking. its so good you have a regular job that i would imagine has medical for you to explore treatment for your medical issues.
Hello, I gave you shit about a drybag on the war on kayak video, but today sir you have earned my subscription. Can you do a video on how you juggle working remotely from the van? I assume you work remotely the other 4 days of the week
I wondered how just renting a spot in a parking garage downtown would work. So I looked up parking by Boston Commons and websites said cost it was ~$28/day and $500 to $685 monthly, which seems just ridiculous to me (I don't live in a city).
Enjoyed your update of work life and van life and Boston life too. Wow you said u walked like 7 miles back to van. That's crazy,, then to the gym?? omg.. , Well, u sure do get ur exercise.. Sorry to hear abt the sidewalk incident. I hope the doc can help u out with that. I am thinking the coffee may be involved? or lack there of it. Sending good vibes your way and chillness for you. Happy Halloween..
I worked at the statehouse for a long time so maybe there is a bridge between your new office and youtube afterall! (Picture me, your youtube fan, waving to you from atop the dome!). After government I was on to high tech. Lasted till about the age you are at now. Yeah, serious intervention needed for the stress. I won't say what relief I used at that time (insert emoji of your choice) but available today is insight meditation. There's a place in Cambridge and another in Barre so perfect for your rounds. There's a lot of people there who find the balance that way; you don't have to totally drop out. No regrets, not really, but I would have fared better in most ways if I could have had access then to something like formal meditation. Just a thought. I'm glad you shared what you are going through. Also, it baffles me that more people don't see your channel; it's awesome.
That episode you had on the sidewalk sounds like a panic /anxiety attack. Paralysis of your face, don't want to scare you but worst thing that could be is signs of a stroke. Definitely get that looked at ASAP. Not sure if that's related to Lyme disease or a side effect of the medication?
I sure hope you're feeling better 4 weeks later ... Which version of the covid vaccine did you receive at your government job? I'm not sure if there's any correlation but a friend of mine had the same symptoms...
Your rapid heart rate sounds to me like AFIB. You can keep it under control pretty easily with proper medication from your doctor. He will probably put a heart monitor on you for a week or two to see how many episodes of AFIB you have. I don’t know anything about the issue with your face, but that too should be checked. Sounds to me that you might want to look into getting a less stressful job until your UA-cam channel becomes more popular.
i hope you see this and it helps some how some way. im 34 and just went through a lot of what you just did even including a health scare. i had every single symptom of colon cancer for like 7 months even including the stool having well not to be gross but blood. pain in the gut. all that. i was sick and tired of my job as well. i couldnt see the end of it turned out to be something benign and all the worry was for not. very lucky and i appreciate life way more and really feel for people with a different outcome. amidst all that going on i left my work and just went on the road in the van doing the transient type jobs and having no responsibilities. the grass is NOT greener on the other side. you're not 60 years old yet, and unless you sell your soul to youtube and become yet another vain, easily transparent lame ass van life youtuber just making content to try to make money, you're gonna have to work. this is the plight of man. people all around the world would KILL SOMEONE literally do anything to have your job and your van. i bet the heart racing thing was just because of caffeine and stress. don't worry about it bro. if it was anything bad, it would've already been bad. i would suggest a good 2-3 week vacation and really evaluate everything with an honest eye before doing anything, because youtube income is worse than working a job. you have to FEED THE BEAST or your flame out quick. so you'll always be shooting, editing, searching for ways to exploit the algorithm, and it will never stop. grass ain't always greener. it COULD be for you, but maaaaaaan really look hard at it!

Great (refreshing!) content! Keep on truckin’ (van in’) man! Boston traffic only “a bit of a nightmare” 😂 it’s a complete disaster.
I once had a three hour commute getting from one edge of Boston to another
Just found your channel and think your content is helpful and entertaining. Your channel will grow, just hand in there. Take care of your health #1

I’ve gotten real advice from a doctor since posting this… it’s Lyme disease and I’m on meds.
Looks like the John W McCormack Building
Matt! Happy halloween from Canada! Keep on grinding, my dude! 🐈⬛
Thanks bro 👊
I like your channel
Thanks
You clean up nice :) Do you use a storage unit to manage your wardrobe/work-clothes? Very nice new office.
I store my work clothes at the foot end of my bed, I’ll do a new van tour sooner or later

It sounds to me like you possibly had a anxiety or panic attack. It can sometimes happen during burnout which i sounds like you have from work.
I hope that’s all it is
Get checked out asap. Keep growing your channel and maybe it will allow you to leave the tower.
Fingers crossed!

While you are waiting for medical attention, at least check your blood pressure at a pharmacy. Walmart and Walgreens have them.
