@@janetbransdon3742 I start my seeds in peat pots, or terra cotta pots, then transfer them to the garden when they are big enough. I use organic, heirloom seeds, many of which I save from year to year. There is also a springtime seed exchange in my community, which is a good opportunity to talk with like minded growers. I feel fortunate to have a greenhouse, as starts take up a lot of room to do this. Plastics are everywhere, so I just do my best to avoid them and keep everything organic.

Well I think anything we do to grow our own food is better than the cancer, diabetes, high BP that we are fed from the big box grocery stores that the government approves. I'll take my chances with an old tire as a border. But to each his own. This is just what this person does. Build your border with something else and take the rest as an example of what to do or not to do. Can't we ever just watch the video without being so judgmental?
Thank you for posting your method and approach to your garden that you will be eating.

Key things to understand from this video. So hard to grow food so don't waste it. This type of growing only good for video making. Potato seed needs to buried little deep not on top. Most imp, from fresh potatoes make healthy dish 🙂

You did fine up until you started pouring soil in the tire ring. Potatoes grow up so you plant cuttings low and fill soil as the sprouts are coming up and then add soil and continue to mound . Potatoes grow along the stem under the soil and when you see it flower you are starting to have potatoes under soil.

This is not true for all potatoes. Determinate potatoes only grow in 1 layer. Indeterminate can be hilled like you described.
Unsure of what type the channel shows, but the lack of hilling doesn't automatically indicate poor technique.

Potatoes may need a little high acidity degree, I guess. That's why they grow well with lime powder addition
