Awesome explanation, awesome philosophy. Subscribed. Thank you
you have NOTHING MORE on the wall
Thanks for the video, man! That thing at the end really got me. I'm often going through that "I sound awesome today or I can't sing today!" thing and that's really frustrating. Hearing that other people go through the same thing makes me realize it's not just me and that's part of the journey. I really appreciate it, man! Cheers from Brazil!
Absolutely man. Not only is it part of being human but part of learning. It really comes into play when you sing live. Lots of things to learn and wrestle with. Just try not to be so hard on yourself when things aren’t working as well.
You're the best vocal coach on UA-cam, hands down.
Very kind 😊
a well done video man
Very Interesting, thank you
By the way, I'm impressed that your hair color matches the tapestry
No many streamers will go that extra length for the aesthetics
Pretty sure it’s just the lighting I have setup 😬
I hope this question makes sense, but when you say you lost your voice - do you mean like you lose your voice after you might after having been shouting all night at a party with loud music or having a throat infection - or do you mean lost your voice on more of a psychological level where you just couldn't find the coordination?
Hi Ryan. I posted a whole video on it. I started losing my range over months. This happened when I quit music and stopped singing weirdly enough. Things kept getting worse until eventually I had trouble with my speaking voice as well. It took about five years to get it back and I’m still not back to “normal”. I still have problems and get tired faster than I used to.
When you say 'holding the breath back' do you mean you're resisting it with your false folds or do you mean you're not releasing as much air from the lungs?
i can do all this fry stuff pretty well in chest voice. going as high as possible, mids, going super low (toilet flush death metal stuff), but i notice that after a few minutes i start to build a lot of pressure in my head. it goes away after a bit, but somehow it feels like im doing something not quiet right - any opinion on that maestro? btw, would love for you to release courses.
Omg! You are soooo beautiful! And so talented. 😍 Thank you for this lesson 😊

I made a video about it and talked more
About it at length. My range started to diminish more and more and then it started to effect my speaking voice. I was losing my physical voice.
Great instruction Sterling....wish I'd seen this 30 years ago!
Thanks for the video man! Really helpful. Can you make more videos on mix voice, how to apply the cry on the break and make it sound like chest?
Many of my videos cover this. They’ll definitely be more 😊
Killswitch engage has some good gym songs to get hype lol
Hey! Thanks for the insight. As a singer trying to experiment with mixed voice, this helps a lot! -Gavin
😊
Thank you for the video, was really interesting as I have been discovering this upper compression layer in my voice only recently (partly thanks to your videos) and am experimenting with it a lot. Im still confused about it though.
On the one hand it lets me create all kinds of cool screaming noises I havent been able to do before. On the other hand I got some troubles with it. First of all I am not sure, if it is actual screaming, cause it is rather quiet and I have trouble making it audible when rehearsing with my band. Theres two kinds of vocal teachers out there. The one that say, this is normal and how it should be. And then there are people that say, healthy screams have to be loud and actual screams.
And second, Im still struggling to find the right spot to create the noise without tickling and scratching in my throat. Sometimes it works great, sometimes I end up coughing badly. And the even bigger problem is, that I find it hard to compress the fry sound without locking the air too much. Most of the time I end up closing the throat too much an pushing so hard from beneath that my vocalchords kinda wear out even if it is not hurting or anything.
Anyways, thanks again, love your videos, found them very helpful so far and hope that you can get your views up, so that you can continue putting them out! You defintely deserve the attention, not just as a vocalteacher but as a musician.
Thanks for the comment man. A lot to cover here. If you wanna reach out to me via email I might be able to help you more 😊
Thank you, Sterling! Nice to see you again!
