    Prep is the most important part of painting. You need to fair all the cracks and fill. Use progressively less grit the apply the primer in two coats then re-sand. Alexseal was used on our hull three months ago. It is a more forgiving paint than AwlGrip as it can be touched up and buffed - 2 coats.

    60 grit is pretty aggressive,probably could have been careful with 180 and painted over the last layer.Without priming,you never tilt your sander while sanding thats why you have all those little spots that are down to the gelcoat.Good luck with what you are planning next👍

    How are you doing?

    60 grit???? You are going to go over it with a finer grit (120 or slightly finer) prior to painting? I think 60 is way too course and the scratches will show thru the paint. Too late now but a heat gun works well to remove vinyl lettering. Renaming the boat involves showing the boat your black American Express card so she will know you have the means to care for her properly.

    Good work, keep it up. Renaming ceremonies vary a lot. Depends on whether you focus on "the old gods, or a Christian ceremony, or a blended ceremony that honors the traditions of the sea and asks the Lord for protection. Whichever you choose there are a couple of "must do" items. First you must remove every reference to the old name "Leisure Time" from both the inside and outside of the boat. That includes any and all paperwork that might have the old name. Most important, to respect the traditions of the sea, do not rename the boat until it is IN THE WATER. It is acceptable to put the new name on the boat before launch, but only if you then cover it until the renaming ceremony. All of the traditions I am aware of are intended to be done with the boat in the water. I would suggest that when you do "rename" your boat have every member of your family participate, invite everyone who helped to be there, and have a celebration on board the "new" boat!

      I believe there is also supposed to be drink offerings to the four winds, some for the vessel and such as that.

    Hi guys, live the channel, love the boat and the work you are all doing to her. I have a serious concern though! I've noticed the cheap masks you are wearing while doing the nasty stuff. I'm sure others would agree with this, my feelings are the masks you are wearing are FAR from adequate in keeping yourselves safe from the dangerous particles you are generating. PLEASE look into safer respiratory protection... PLEASE!!!

    • @theazimuthadventure2138
      @theazimuthadventure2138  Рік тому +1

      We actually really appreciate you and the concerns you’ve expressed. I hope you have seen the respirators we employ quite regularly. We would agree that there are times we downgrade to the surgical masks and the n95’s but we try to be very cautious as to when those reductions in PPE are appropriate.

      Sanding is coming on nicely just make sure you protect your eyes and your mouths are well.covered I have worked in fibre glass it does not taste nice and going into your lungs will cause problems but the hull is coming on nicely with your work ethics 😊😊😊😊
