    Hi! I found this at the store last week. Left without it. But couldn’t stop thinking about it. I went back 2 days ago and it was still there, so I bought it. It appears to be healthy. It has 3 pretty flowers and currently it is small enough for me to call it a mini. You’re right about the strong scent. It’s very potent. But to me it’s more like a night blooming jasmine scent. Anyway I found your video after I bought it. I should have known you’d have one. Thanks so much!

    Danny always says this flower smells like a fancy soap, I have this one at home and after two years waiting it decided to make 30 flowers at once. It reminds me of certain white oriental or trumpet lilies, but not as in your face, but it still fills the room. It's a great fragrance :)

    I live in Bradenton, Florida and my Brassavola Little Star is in bloom... I walked into my screened lanai this evening and the air was filled with a wonderful fragrance. This is my first Brassavola and I’m looking for more to add to my collection... thank you for the recommendation

    Here I was going to go to sleep then you drop this in my lap. A hefty dose of jealousy in the form of a beautiful orchid?
    Now I'll never sleep! haha!!
    I like the comment you made about the fragrance being so familiar - I am reminded of cologne by these types of orchids.

    We have a colony of Little Stars growing around the full circumference of a palm tree just outside the window to our backyard. Have been watching it produce beautiful blooms for the past 2 years. Now we know it's true name

    I just picked one of these up from our local hardware store on the discount rack! It's my first non-Phalaenopsis orchid. But at a super low price, it was worth taking a gamble. It's in quarantine now along with a new calathea "dottie" I picked up yesterday.

    My B. Little Stars that I purchased in February just bloomed for me yesterday. After all of the comments I've read regarding the wonderful night fragrance, I moved it to our ensuite bathroom last night so that when I got up in the night, I would be greeted with the fragrance. Much to my disapointment, it did not smell up the room..as a matter of fact, even sticking my nose up to the flower, I can barely detect a smell. Why doesn't mine smell wonderful like everyone else's plants? Could it be, because it only has two blooms? I actually got up twice last night and no fragrance...:(

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  8 років тому

      Hi, I'm sorry to hear :( give it a few more days, but also consider that there might be other factors that influence it too. I actually just made a video on this topic here ua-cam.com/video/UAAj2Z8PSPY/v-deo.html hope this helps :)

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  9 років тому

      +Rosemary457 :) I'm afraid I cannot answer this question, but if you feel very sad that your orchids don't bloom as often as you'd like, maybe take a break from buying too many and wait for yours too bloom, when you'll see those new buds you'll get more confidence I'm sure of it :)

    I obtained a Little Star orchid from a lady who could no longer care for her orchids. I know it needs repotting but not sure wether or not to mount it or not. It also has two sections far apart. Can I separate and get two plants from it? I guess I need to unpost it first to tell. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi Danni, i need some insight from you since you have both nodosa and little stars. How to differentiate between both of them? Both of them have same leaves shape...how do i know whether i am buying nodosa or little star? As for the scent, which you prefer? By the way, i have the same doubt as birdluvrs...i also got no fragrance on my nodosa on my 1st few days of flowering when i place it in my room so i gave up and put it out on my car porch...the following night, the fragrance was out...then i bring it into my room again. The fragrance was not as strong the next following night again...so i put it out on my car porch again. Again that night has strong fragrance..i am not sure whether it was exposed to the sunlight in the day + my ceiling fan was too strong in my room..or that the 2 sets of bloom is not enough to fill my standard room.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  8 років тому +2

      Hi Casey, well my little stars is much bigger than the nodosa, they do look quite similar in shape yes, but the nodosa leaves are about 15 cm long or a little more. The little stars is twice as big. When it comes to fragrance I am not sure, the nodosa never bloomed :) It's really interesting about the fragrance, there must be something it likes outside, temperature, air movement perhaps :)

    Hi. I was watching this video and I could see that your Brassavola Little Star was on a wood block. Is that right? Can it be growing on cork too? In another video you said, you would like us to come with ideas for more videos. Could you maybe make one of how to attach orchids to f.ex. wood? Maybe you also could tell how to deal with Stenoglottis Longiflora and/or Paraphalaenopsis? I was also wondering how you hang your plasticcups in your orchid hospital?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  8 років тому

      +Karina Palm Hello Karina, yes this orchid is mounted on a slab of wood, but it can be mounted on cork too or on a ceramic slab :) as long as the wood or material is not toxic, all should be ok. About mounting orchids I do have a tutorial which you can see here, it's in 2 parts ua-cam.com/video/W1goK2izgOE/v-deo.html I am not sure if I will keep any orchid mounted in the future, it requires a lot of time spent on watering every day and since I will have a lot of orchids this might just take too much time for me. But mounted orchids can grow really well if you can keep up with watering :) about the cups, I just used double adhesive tape, since they are light they hold really well :) hope this helped!

    Hi Miss Dani ,
    Good day to you.
    I would like to ask if there are differences in the characteristic fragrance among your Brassavolas and its Hybrids - such as Brassavola Nodosa , Brassavola Little Stars , Brassavola Cucullata , and Brassavola Jiminey Cricket. If there are differences in the fragrances of your Brassavolas , which one do you like best ?
    Thank you very much and Happy growing !

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  9 років тому

      +Harley Quinn well there are some very slight differences in the ones that I smelled so far, except the nodosa. The cuculata has a stronger sharper fragrance that I like a bit more, the Jiminey Cricket is very similar and the Little Stars has a more subtle powdery fragrance. The main smell is pretty much the same though :)

    • @JC-jh4fi
      @JC-jh4fi 9 років тому

      Thank you very much , Miss Dani. I do have a Brassavola Jiminey Cricket - never bloomed , Brassavola Yellow Bird - in spike , and Brassavola Binosa x Brassavola Little Stars - that did not have any fragrance when I got it in bloom from ebay. I love Brassavola Hybrids , but some crosses like my Binosa x Little Stars don't have a scent.
      Thank you very much for making your informative videos. I share them , with proper attribution to you , on the FB Page of AOS.
      Have a safe move to Cyprus ! Happy growing !
