He's essentially the Mr. Spock of Game of Thrones but with an intimidation factor and an overlord rank. Although the thing with Tyrion's gf was a dick move. Most of the villain in every movie/serie ever did much less cruel things than Tywin, and still there is people saying he's not a villain, he is the man behind the red wedding, the rape of Elia Martell and her kids, he tried to kill his own son multiple time just because he is a dwarf, he tortured thousands of people on Harrenhall, he gave power to one of the most cruel man ever seen on television Ser Gregor Clegane, yes he is a bad guy, even by game of throne standards.
@ledernierutopiste I have to agree with you, in my eyes he's not a character I admire and I personally refuse to put him on a pedestal. I think a lot of the reason why others write off his misdeeds comes down to the fact he exemplifies traits that our society values. Not that it's a bad thing to value traits like hard work, leadership and knowledge, I just think we should put it in perspective. I know my opinion fundamentally disagrees with many on this thread, but having these types of discussions are always a good thing.
Tywin has always been my favourite character, if I could be any character in real life I would choose him. He’s so commanding, demanding and powerful and a genius. He doesn’t show fear, he does what is needed.
that scene with stannis and Davos after Davos is rescued from the blackwater, stannis just looks at him turns around "I thought you were dead" hilarious
it would be very similar to Stannis`s conversation with Renly. One side would be speaking about morals and rights the other would be about timing and position. Nothing would come about. The conversation would end with Stannis saying `we shall see Tywin, we shall see`
Better question is who would win in a battle tywin or stannis both commanding similar army strengths. My money is on stannis since he is a much more grizzled veteran of many of Roberts campaigns and proved he can deal deciding blows with minimal forces.
Tywin has always been my favorite character in the whole story, either books or show, in the show i never miss a scene for him, Charles Dance did a great job too! No other character in the whole story can get even close to him, how clever, strong and bossy he is!
@@KingMckay I never believe that stupid theory about Tyrion not being Tywin's son, simply because it takes away from the tragedy of their relationship, and it feels so cheap saying he doesn't like Tyrion because he isn't his son and it also makes no sense, Tywin would have just killed Tyrion if that was the case and he definitely would have found a way to kill the mad king if he known he put his hands on his beloved wife, long before any rebellion ever happened, tell me do actually believe Tywin would have let that go unpunished for so long because the theory itself is a insult to Tywin.
David Bliss when I look from Tywins perspective I can understand his dislike for Tyrion he killed he beloved wife when he was born due to his deformities, his final son ruining the whole Lannister line in one foul swoop due to Jaime being a kings guard at this moment I believe, tyrion had defamed the Lannister name not by choice but based one his birth. Tywins greatest weakness was that despite him acting like he didn't consider the opinions of the sheep he has always this is why tyrions weakness his such a problem to him
Tyrion succeeds in bringing order to King's Landing, leads the defense of King's Landing against Stannis Baratheon, eliminates the chief agent through which his rule may be undermined by Cersei's interference, and gets rid of the corrupt chief of the Gold Cloaks. He did a bang up job there. Tywin has many great features which make him an excellent character and formidable person. His numerous failings as a father and his overly harsh treatment of defeated enemies earned his family more enemies in the long run and left the Lannisters in an incredibly fragile position once he was gone.
Well it was his fucking seed that made Tyrion, so I never understand how he is to blame, like i understand i guess because people during that age were retarded about things like that. (Pycelle claiming treason was a weed that would spread to Sansa)
Tywin Lannister is definitely one of the best characters on the show, one of my top 3. I can't imagine anyone other than Charles Dance portraying him; he suited the role so perfectly.
I never understood why Tywin was supposed to be so terrible. There are many people more evil and several that are worse fathers than Tywin is to Tyrion. And Tywin has a lot of redeeming qualities. He really should have been king instead of the usurper Baratheon
DaemonPix This. That's why he is terrible. The problem is, people get blinded to the real (book) Tywin's ruthless, cold, selfish nature in the light of the much humanized show-Tywin's certain characteristics.
Warden of the North most evil character in the game? Might I introduce you to the man with the Silence, a pirate vessel feared all over the world and crewed by people who have their tongues ripped out by the Iron Captain with the blue lips, eyepatch, suit of Valyrian steel armor and a horn that makes dragons obey him? If you think Tywin is the most evil character you need a proper introduction to Euron Greyjoy. I am the storm...
Took the words out of my mouth. Tywin Lannister is my favourite character in Game of Thrones (and song of ice and fire) along with Tyrion and Arya and might be up there with my favourite characters in TV along with Tony Soprano.
Yeah, I really liked the show's addition of Tywin and Arya interacting. Having two awesome characters play off each other like that SOOOOO FUCKIN COOL :D
Great video man. No matter wether you love him or hate him, no denying how effective he was as a ruler. The Lannister name under his father became a laughing stock. Tywin being able to almost single handedly return it to a house thats respected and feared shows how incredible he was as a leader. He had his flaws just like every character in asoiaf, but does not take away from just how much of a sheer force he was in the political landscape and history of westeros. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
If anything, I'd blame Barristan Selmy for the whole mess in the books. If he didn't bother and just let the Mad Dipshit Aerys die in Duskendale, Rhaegar would be king, and Tywin would have stayed Hand.
Tywin had many talents and characteristics that I lacked all my life. By thinking about Tywin, I became more confident and willing to stand up for myself. I see my life as the Game of Thrones now and Tywin will always be one of my favourite characters.
He was my favorite too. His screen presence has overshadowed everyone. Charles dance made full justice with his role. My most favourite part is tywin and arya jn harranhall. Such a master piece.
Δημητρης Βαγκοπουλος good riddance to the death of tywin a truly evil character. I think roose is a much better planner than he is but just as despicable. Best character by far is Tyrion or arya.
Genna Lannister's description of Tywin to Jaime during the siege of Riverrun, that was one of the best scene in A Feast of Crows. I was at awe and fully fell in love with Tywin even further.
Yeah totally, whenever we meet characters like Keven, Genna and others close to Tywin we learn how great he truly is. Just sad he ended up against our protagonists :(
he showed Arya kindness in the show. for a time I thought he even suspected who she was, like when he corrected her on how to better pretend to be low born. it seems to me that Tywin isn't the type to suspect her as high born & not find out who exactly she was. just a thought. But I always wondered why in the book when it was Roose she was with at Harrenhal and in the show...it was Tywin, why in both versions they made it such a point to show they knew Arya wasn't who she said she was.
He was the perfect specimen of Machiavelli's "The Prince" His cruelty is for the sake of effectiveness, people don't love him but they fear him thus making him respected above all else, and his other aspects.
@@michaelplowman8674 it is preferred to be both loved and feared, but because having both is almost impossible, being feared is safest. But never allow yourself to be despised.
An even greater character than Tywin Lannister is Charles Dance! What a character!! Thank you, Charles, for the immense pleasure that you have brought to countless with your incomparable characterisations in a multitude of movies! Long may you live to do us proud!
He can be a great character but a horrible person, most of the best characters are horrible people. Tywin is a greatly written character but not a good person.
@@dubbeking I think that's too relativistic. Nearly any person could be labelled as 'a product of their time.' Tywin was clever AF, charismatic and well written, but also self-interest-driven and without any kind of honour. The video even excuses his orders/acceptance of raping and killing the king's wife and little children lol.
@James Chris Don't assume others have 'not seen the video' just because they don't agree with you. I've watched it and I still think he was a 'bad person,' if you will. Not evil, because the bad things he did were the means, not the goal itself (i.e.: he was not 'sadistic,' 'mad,' etcetera). But he was still the paradigm of someone who would maintain the system in his favour: all of his character is about that. He knew no honour, and all the 'he saved many lives' discourse conveniently ignores that he did it because war would have been bad to his own interests and those of his family, and not because high moral standards or worryings. If he had needed war given a certain circumstance, he would have started war without a second thought; the thing being, he knew war should be avoided if possible, but ONLY because of strategy, not ethics. He was clever and charismatic, with no doubt, and you could learn a lot from him. But he would order to kill you ruthlessly if that could help his plans. So yes, I think he matches one of the various today's definitions of 'bad person.' And I've not even talked about his 'personal' side (e.g.: Tyrion).
The character and the actor who brought him to life was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed....Good analysis and I loved how you brought in facts from the lore that shed more light to this magnificent villain. More power to you man.
I LOVE IT. People were always so confused when i said how much i admired and loved Tywin, and they thought me mad. Thank you for the video!! His death was regretfully shameful
Tywin is my favorite character to, and I agree with you on everything except I don't believe that Tyrion is a secret Targaryan, first of all because Tyrion is more his son than Jaime is, Genna said so herself, and also because it ruins the story of Tywin and Tyrion. Cus if he is Aerys' son than its all understandable, and than Tyrion killing Tywin means nothing. But by Tyrion being Tywin 's son it becomes a sad story of a father who can't look away a few flaws and thereby destroys himself and his family.
He didn't say Tyrion wasn't Tywins son, he said there is a possibility that he isn't. Tywin himself don't know if Tyrion is his real son or not and thats whats eating him up.
I always admired Charles Dance's performance as Tywinn Lannister, he is one of my top 3 favorite characters, possibly tying up at second with Varys, he was ruthless because he had to be, he is a product of his environment and became a man because he had to be. I always felt that which is why I have the utmost respect for him on the show!
A big problem with viewers is what's known as presentism. Judging the ideals and actions of people who lived in a particular zeitgeist based on that of the present, which is utter nonsense. I'm not saying I agree with many of the morals of eras past, but the human race is constantly changing, abandoning and adopting all manner of belief systems with each new generation. Centuries from now, modern people will look back on this day and age and wonder what we were thinking, living life the way we do.
10:08 people acknowledge this moment as one of Tywin's ruthlessness. But to me thats probably his greatest sign of love in the series(outside of jaime). He said himself he wanted to kill tyrion. But not only did he spare him but CHOSE to raise him as a Lannister. He could've given him away or left him somewhere. Tywin chose to raise him. He did this for his family not for himself ad tyrion asked. I think the thought of harming your own child coupled with being the last memory of joanna is what lead to Tywin sparing Tyrion. Tywin wanted him dead but never thought of killing him with his own hands. Hes still his son and there is love there however buried it might be.
Tywin was a great character and certainly the loss of his presence has been felt since. However the major let down came not with him potentially condemning Tyrion to death in the trial, but rather screwing his whore after constantly condemning him for such. This made him a hypocrite and everything his character is built upon is undone with that.
Indeed he is the *ultimate hypocrite* He commit incest with his wife/cousin and thinks hes clever. But turns a blind eye toward his childrens love and stupidity. Kevan is tywin fanboy who gave tyrion some really poor excuse. Just because Tywin's dad is weak and indecisive. Doesn't excuse him to be needlessly cruel towards Tyrion. He is a terrorist, coward, and liar. Im not trying to condemn or anything.
Another thing I find hypocritical about him is his obsession with the Lannister legacy. Well his legacy was turning his house into the most hated one since the Targaryans or Harren the Black. Every single Great house in Westeros now despise the Lannisters and eventually they'd collapse
Isa Sulayman maybe Twyin was getting revenge of The Mad King raping his wife by taking Tyrions whore ? Tywin could shag any whore in Kings landing, and maybe this was him releasing the anger towards Tyrion, the Mad King. The only justification I can think of
Fantastic analysis of Tywin's character. The history with his father gives Tywin far more depth, and I love the parallels between him rebuilding his House after the mistakes made by his family, and the Stark children having to do the same.
Tywin is still my favourite character! With the exception of his treatment of Tyrion, he never was more cruel and vicious than he should be! And always outsmarted everyone!
You make a good argument, although his treatment of Tyrion is still his weak point and his downfall. Even if, as you say, he believes Tyrion isn't his child, the way he treats him by torturing him at every point of his life (remember what he did to the women Tyrion fell in love with) is unjustified. Either he accepts Tyrion as his son and treats him accordingly, or he should've killed him outright or at any point (go hard or go home as you said). However, he goes against his character and does neither of those and refuses to recognize that Tyrion is the one most similar to him in terms of character and judgment out of all his children. Furthermore, he also misjudges his other children, trying to force Jaime to be a leader when he's not (Jaime is and always wanted to be an honorable soldier) and treating Cersei like a prop despite her innate abilities to scheme and desire for power. Like many characters in GoT, it's his weaknesses that do him in at the hands of his mistreated son, Tyrion.
Absolutely great video. Tywin is a character that should be admired as the most respected and feared man in the Seven Kingdoms. He's also likable at times too. He didn't put up with Joffrey at all. He's not an evil character at all. Like all Game of Thrones characters besides Ramsay and Joffrey, he's a grey character.
Don't think Tyrion is actually a Targaryen, takes away from the complexity of the dynamic set up between Tywin and Tyrion and from Tywin's death....I think revealing Tywin as not Tyrion's father really slashes out what GRRM built between the two characters
Yeah, personally I don't think Tyrion will be a Targaryen, but I believe the possibility he could be in Tywin's mind adds to the tension in there relationship :D
Tywin once said if he could have proof that tyrion wasnt his son. Why would he said that??? I believe tyrion is part targaryen plus the dragon had a connection with him
@@mariangeliemartinez322 It would make more sense if Jaime and Cersei were the bastards and Tyrion is his only trueborn son, because as a person of pride and a person that don't have problem with killing babies he would've killed Tyrion if he even got a whiff of infidelity or even if Tyrion is a true born. The only way to explain this is Jaime and Cersei were bastards and he chose to raise them because Jaime was a promising warrior and Cersei was beautiful.
> Tywin is angrily writing letters and stamping wax > Dany enters with her dragon > * *stamps wax loudly* * > "What" > Dany is thrown off > "Im here for the throne" > "The throne is downstairs. Sit in it then. Wont do you any good. Its merely a chair." > "I took it. With fire and blood" > * *Tywin licks his fingers like a snake and flips a letter* * > "And what good did that do you? You are feared, not respected. Your handmaiden dead. Your armies are currently raping the people you wanted to save. Your hand and my shame of a son has betrayed you, and here you are, asking for power." > "Dracarys" > * *nothing* * > * *Tywin looks up finally* * > "Your dragon was tired. He needed a nap. I sent him under the keep with some milk of the poppy. You will marry my son Jaime. We will join houses. Period. Now leave."
The scenes with Arya and Tywin have some of the best dialogues added by the show. He has always been one of my favorite characters and Charles Dance was absolutely perfect.
I understand his hatred of tyrion. And I respect his intellect and charisma. I don't hate him because of that like i hate cersei and geoffrey. But I don't like him either because as brilliant he is at defeating his enemies as horrible he is at protecting his own. He fails to controll cersei and geoffrey, which leads to the death of all of cerseis children and he understandably hates tyrion but doesn't communicate to him why that is the case and makes life for him so very hard that he will inevitably end up betraying him. Would their relationship have been a cold but respectfull one this would not have happened. I find it very surprising that Tywin didn't see that coming.
My favorite character of all time. He and I know it's a bold claim to make but he was one of the most sympathetic character in GOT. I could understand each action he took and even though I hated a lot of decisions he made they were very just and made a lot of sense.
Timtim Gaming yeah how? Daenarys is the mad king daughter is 100% from the dragon bloodline unlike tyrion which if true what is said in the video, he would be a bastard

Excuse me, "made to look bad in the show"?! In the books Tywin is much more evil and ruthless than he's in the show (like Cersei and other characters). If anything, the show makes him look more human in compariason. I've no idea where you got your conclusion from.
Great video. The part about Tywin knowing that Tyrion is not his son clashes with my belief. I think he simply thought what everyone else had believed: that Tyrion was sent by the gods to punish him, not that Aerys was the boy's actually sire
Even in the books Tywin was my fav character, then i saw that Charles Dance will portray him on the show and Tywin skyrocketed to my fav character EVER. Love the character, love the actor
I agree. A very accomplished man. A man of skill and talent. The most underrated character in GOT. And the actor that portrayed him? one word, STELLAR!!!
Tywin had only three concerns in life: his love, Joanna; his family name being taken seriously, and ensuring that the Lannister name endured for centuries. The first two were taken away by Tyrion. Tywin fucked himself out of the third.
Tywin always reminded me a bit of Tarkin from Star Wars. Sure there is a similar appearance, but also that tactical genius you had mentioned earlier, their rise to a prominent positions of power.
o7 wow great vid! I always respected Tywin's cunning, ruthlessness and grit, just from what I've seen in the movie. But now that you explained all the back story (Never read the books) I have a lot more respect for him. He's a realpolitik vs Ned Stark's idealism.
Tywin is indeed a great character. While he isn't needlessly cruel or horrible for fun, he is clearly a brutal enemy who has essentially no limits to the actions he will take to achieve his ends.
I mostly followed the Starks during season 1 but after that there was at least one person from each main family. And personally I love all the Lannisters Yep including Cersei. Tywin was truly a great and incredibly interesting characters and one of the best characters in my opinion.
Yes it is ! My fav character also. Interactions with Arya, Joffrey, his arrival "we have won!". Smart, charismatic... Tyrion and him are not so differents. Sadly he hated him too much for his own well. Nice vid and like Robert says : "We want moooooooooooore" ^^
I rewatch Tywin KAnnister vids the most over the years, I love that guy, even his imperfections are incredibly human an from a fragile perspective that he's encased in hardness, it's hell intriguing, his way of conquering others, the mind games an political moving etc, I'd like to see house Lannister still stand
It would be so cool to see a younger Tywin in a game of thrones prequel set in the Mad King's reign. Shame we'll probably never get something like that
YES! Tywin was my favorite character as well, I actually felt bad that in the end that he was taking down by Tyrion, but he seemed like the only character I would not hate for doing just that. Always surprises me this show and cant wait for the new season!

it would be very similar to Stannis`s conversation with Renly.
Finally, a fellow Tywin lover. I, too, think Charles Dance was a towering portrayer of the GoT godfather of the Lannister clan!
Yeah I love Charles Dance :D
@@KingMckay I never believe that stupid theory about Tyrion not being Tywin's son, simply because it takes away from the tragedy of their relationship, and it feels so cheap saying he doesn't like Tyrion because he isn't his son and it also makes no sense, Tywin would have just killed Tyrion if that was the case and he definitely would have found a way to kill the mad king if he known he put his hands on his beloved wife, long before any rebellion ever happened, tell me do actually believe Tywin would have let that go unpunished for so long because the theory itself is a insult to Tywin.
His only mistake was the hate for his son
David Bliss when I look from Tywins perspective I can understand his dislike for Tyrion he killed he beloved wife when he was born due to his deformities, his final son ruining the whole Lannister line in one foul swoop due to Jaime being a kings guard at this moment I believe, tyrion had defamed the Lannister name not by choice but based one his birth. Tywins greatest weakness was that despite him acting like he didn't consider the opinions of the sheep he has always this is why tyrions weakness his such a problem to him
Also, if u followed the tyrion targarien theories, he might actually not be tywins son
Had Tywin recognized what an asset Tyrion is, he might still be alive now.
George r.r. Martin truly is a genius. Every character has such a deep backstory.
Yeah defiantly would have been better for the realm :D
fucking cersei is the worst
What about Craster...
When you work for a Tywin then you can see the hatred towards him. I had to suffer underneath a boss just like him and life absolutely sucked.
DaemonPix This. That's why he is terrible. The problem is, people get blinded to the real (book) Tywin's ruthless, cold, selfish nature in the light of the much humanized show-Tywin's certain characteristics.
Great actor, great character for sure. 2 words - pride and cold...oh so cold. Great job! Thanks!
That would make some great house word "Pride and Cold" :D
lol yep!
Say what you want but Tywin was he most evil character in game of thrones. Great villain yes.
Ever Dawn Ser Gregor, Qyburn, Ramsy , Vargo Hot , Every Ironborn
Couldn't agree more. And I'd argue that Charles Dance is very much responsible for making the characters this amazing.
Thanks really well put :D
If anything, I'd blame Barristan Selmy for the whole mess in the books. If he didn't bother and just let the Mad Dipshit Aerys die in Duskendale, Rhaegar would be king, and Tywin would have stayed Hand.
One of many actions that changed the course of Westeros history forever LD
@@Borderose Sir Barrestam even wish he had let the Mad King died. He claimed Prince Rhaeger could have been a good king. And I support him
Tywin had many talents and characteristics that I lacked all my life. By thinking about Tywin, I became more confident and willing to stand up for myself. I see my life as the Game of Thrones now and Tywin will always be one of my favourite characters.
Tywin is incredible as portrayed on the show.
That's all thanks to Charles Dance I think :D
He was my favorite too. His screen presence has overshadowed everyone. Charles dance made full justice with his role. My most favourite part is tywin and arya jn harranhall. Such a master piece.
Arya was a joy to watch as well also the hound
I loved his first scene with him actually skinning a real stag
This is a great video, Tywin is my favourite character too. He's just so calculating and smart
Yeah I also liked that time he sent Joffrey to bed hahaha :D
Man I completely agree maybe we are the only people who likes so much that character he is my favorite too!!
I think there's more Tywin fans out there but it's not a popular opinion so people just say Dany or something :D
His only downfall is bad parenting 😂
He was the perfect specimen of Machiavelli's "The Prince"
His cruelty is for the sake of effectiveness, people don't love him but they fear him thus making him respected above all else, and his other aspects.
Love that book. It's best to be loved and respected. It's most important to be feared.
@@michaelplowman8674 it is preferred to be both loved and feared, but because having both is almost impossible, being feared is safest. But never allow yourself to be despised.
Charles Dance seriously gives me strong Christopher Lee vibes. Just the power dominant voice and having a straight BOSS presence.
tyrion is more his son than Jamie or cercise
Yes, I don't believe Tyrion is a Targn I think that Tywin believes it to be a possibility and that adds to his treatment towards Tyrion.
technically cersei is his daughter so...
I think he's more a product of his time than simply a "bad person."
So yes, I think he matches one of the various today's definitions of 'bad person.'
And I've not even talked about his 'personal' side (e.g.: Tyrion).
Even Ned the icon of morality in GOT lied to his wife for 2 decades about John and backed a brute just because they where friends.
@@Itizhor robert was gonna do it anyway and tywin didn't want him to invade the westerlands
The character and the actor who brought him to life was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed....Good analysis and I loved how you brought in facts from the lore that shed more light to this magnificent villain. More power to you man.
I love how Charles Dance totally embraced his character :D 7:14
The sole reason enough to love the Tywin character is the stellar performance of Charles Dance. Easily the greatest actor in the whole series.
Atleast somebody here likes Tywin more than tyrion like me.. 🙃
lol hahaha :D
Me as well, usually I get evil looks when I say this, but whatever. Lol.
I LOVE IT. People were always so confused when i said how much i admired and loved Tywin, and they thought me mad. Thank you for the video!! His death was regretfully shameful
I love tywin. he may be a villain, but his the most likable villain out there for his strategic cold mind with his charisma.
アキラ Agreed. Tywin Lannister and Roose Bolton are very similar. Great leaders
Seven kingdoms united in the fear of Tywin Lannister ..!
He is my favorite too :)
Of a man of great power and the position he is in he has to be what he is :D
For example ?
Tywin burning the wolf pelt in the forge fire, that look of smug satisfaction in his eyes, easily the best part of Game of Thrones.
2 gold each turn, Tricon, Renown, Lord with bonus STR, of course he is the greatest character in Game of Thrones.
Hahaha :D
The things he did to the poor girl who dared to love Tyron, he was a monster, a very charismatic one, but a monster at the end of the day.
The Ultraman It should probably be noted that marrying your cousin in this world isn't considered incest.
The only justification I can think of
The Ultraman
Marrying cousins wasn't seen as incest in real life or Westeros.
Tywin is my favorite character as well. Cold, logical and selfish.
Tywin saying "you are no son of mine" is just him disowning Tyrion, not confirming any sort of theories.
> Tywin is angrily writing letters and stamping wax

he is my favorite also, i love his way of thinking
Yeah, he's a total boss :D
Great video! Tywin has always been my favorite. Charles Dance being brilliant actor just makes him even better.
Tywin Lannister is my favourite character
:D
Tywin has always been my favorite character ! Thank you for this video :D
He murdered Targaryen children
He slept with his own son's love
I don't think his a character to be favorite of anyone
The scenes with Arya and Tywin have some of the best dialogues added by the show. He has always been one of my favorite characters and Charles Dance was absolutely perfect.
Petyr Baelish - The King Of The Ashes!
Hahaha :D
I always felt for the starks but I couldn't hate Tywin, I just liked him so much as a character despite his deeds, he is just so good.
He steals the show I wish they didn’t kill him off
I understand his hatred of tyrion.
This is a bit late, considering that he is dead
I choose to make this well after his death as it allows us to look at his whole life and what he did :D
King Mckay Oh ok thats a great point :D
Frédéric Chopin and killed by the underestimated and bullied son
"to create a demon u just to bully an angel "
Frédéric Chopin is a bit late, considering that he is dead.
Frédéric Chopin what is dead may never die
Found my echo chamber! Love it, love Tywin! His conflict with his feeling of his Father and with Tyrion are wonderful
If he's such a boss, why did he die? Huehuehue
Valar Morghulis
He was always one of my favourites, an outstanding actor too!!
Wait a minute, Tyrion could be descended from the Mad King? He could be a male heir to the throne!
Though he would still be a bastard
People love this theory. But Tyrion is clearly Tywin's son. He is more like him than Jaime or Cersei. He even says "I am your son."
Army of Ninjas Jon Snow says "I'm Ned Starks bastard". Does that make him Ned Starks bastard even though it isn't true?
Timtim Gaming how
Timtim Gaming yeah how? Daenarys is the mad king daughter is 100% from the dragon bloodline unlike tyrion which if true what is said in the video, he would be a bastard
Agreed I couldn’t say it better myself.
Great video. You have rightfully earned my like and my sub
Another thing I find hypocritical about him is his obsession with the Lannister legacy. Well his legacy was turning his house into the most hated one since the Targaryans or Harren the Black. Every single Great house in Westeros now despise the Lannisters and eventually they'd collapse
Not to mention all his children and grandchildren dying off, ending his line almost.
Great vid! Apart from the Tysha incident he has always been one of my fav characters and Charles Dance plays him brilliantly!
Excuse me, "made to look bad in the show"?! In the books Tywin is much more evil and ruthless than he's in the show (like Cersei and other characters). If anything, the show makes him look more human in compariason. I've no idea where you got your conclusion from.
Could not agree with you more, Mr. McKay. Tywin, although long gone as it is, will remain my all-time favorite character.
Nope. He is one of the best, but Stannis trumps them all quite easily. Of course you already know that.
Yeah I do like Stannis a lot and was that a Trump joke :D
+King Mckay So every time someone says the word "trump" you assume it's a joke about the president?
stannis...pls. one of the most cliche and predictable characters. absolutely no depth.
Stannis! Stannis! Stannis!
He burned his daughter alive though
Tywin is truly the best. Thank you for making a video on my favourite character. Thank you fam!
They actually got a villain with simple motiviation really right.
Fkin exactly!!! Anyone who asks me name the best king in the world of ice & fire, I say Tywin Lannister!!!
He has to be one of the best written characters in tv history I swear! He’s not that bad, he literally does what he has to do to survive
o7 wow great vid!
Thank god you made this video! Tywin is best!
No one can bring down us Tywin fans :D
I despise Tywin in the books, but I like him in the show coz of Charles Dance's performance.
One of the best GOT character analysis out there. Subscribed! Keep up the good work.
I mostly followed the Starks during season 1 but after that there was at least one person from each main family. And personally I love all the Lannisters Yep including Cersei. Tywin was truly a great and incredibly interesting characters and one of the best characters in my opinion.
I back Tywin morally on everything he ever did.
Yes it is ! My fav character also.
Interactions with Arya, Joffrey, his arrival "we have won!". Smart, charismatic... Tyrion and him are not so differents. Sadly he hated him too much for his own well.
Nice vid and like Robert says :
"We want moooooooooooore" ^^
The show died with Tywin Lannister ♥️
Don’t know why they killed him off
I rewatch Tywin KAnnister vids the most over the years, I love that guy, even his imperfections are incredibly human an from a fragile perspective that he's encased in hardness, it's hell intriguing, his way of conquering others, the mind games an political moving etc, I'd like to see house Lannister still stand
It would be so cool to see a younger Tywin in a game of thrones prequel set in the Mad King's reign. Shame we'll probably never get something like that
Tywin is actually a father everyone needs but hates having.
YES! Tywin was my favorite character as well, I actually felt bad that in the end that he was taking down by Tyrion, but he seemed like the only character I would not hate for doing just that. Always surprises me this show and cant wait for the new season!
I couldn't agree more, he handled Joffrey with such a sly mocking finesse. My favorite scenes were when he told him "we could arrange to have you carried" and then at the council meeting sent him to bed without his supper!
