Same. Being in CA I found a lot of the stuff out of Seattle in the 90s to be mindless aside for Nirvana, always wondered why more people out here didnt find Oasis brilliant. They were ahead of just about everyone, love em or hate em' They sold more records then the Beatles so the haters can go get F@#$%#
Another vote from America for Noel from someone who was there when they broke in the 90's. Antics aside, great songwriter and killer riffs! Simple and catchy.
Canadian who grew up with Oasis in the 90s. They were massive for myself and all my friends. They had a bigger impact than I think you realize. I saw them for the first time a week after Knebworth with Neil Young and then saw them on every tour they did after that. I've wanted that Riviera since I was 15 and already ordered one.
I love Noels guitar playing as much as I love Clapton Hendrix and Page... like when I'm at a party and I pull out my guitar and play some Clapton Hendrix and Page I get a forced smile but the minute I play anything written by Noel peoples feet start tapping and before you know it everyone is singing along.
I played Noel’s Gibson model a few weeks ago. It georgeous. Plays like butter, has fantastic tones at all settings, and looks perfect. Is it $10,000 good? No. It’s about $5,000 good, which is the highest I ever pay for a new guitar. And that’s once in my life only.
"Some might say" that wood doesn't matter, but I can really hear that ebony fretboard adding a clarity and brightness that 355 with a rosewood fretboard just don't have. Sounds awesome! I love Oasis. I love your playing!! You are one of my favourite guitarists!
I’m American. I love Oasis. I get that I might be in the minority. The fact is Noel has written loads of great songs. Those that don’t get that are missing out.
+1 the songs are so good, and if people claim it's because they hate his attitude, well ... - Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Banksy, Henry Rollins, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. All confirmed terrible people, but try to tell me their art wasn't masterfully made.
People will disagree but despite being almost identical 355s and 335s have their own sound and surprisingly sound noticeably different while also being quite similar. Basically the 355 is to the 335 what the les paul custom is to the les paul standard. Very similar sounding but also fairly different in both cases I guess you could say the 355 is like a 335 custom . Ebony board gold hardware headstock with the les paul custom headstock aesthetic . Gold tuners .
Like the two guitars, I’m more of a Rivera fan and would’ve loved to have bought the Union Jack back in the day! I thought he’s been rocking Jazzmaster more recently though?
Fantastic vid! Love Oasis and the Chief! Killer sound that you pulled from that beauty. I’m going to get the Riv for sure. Thank you for letting me hear what it would have been like to have 10 grand laying around! 😜
If Epiphone is going to price their guitars at or near $1k, they need to use rosewood on the fretboard. My Epi that I purchased in 2004 for $500 has a rosewood board and you can purchase a new Yamaha Pacifica w/ a rosewood board for $300.

I think Noel had an epiphone les Paul in the early days of oasis, he then got a Gibson led Paul from Johnny marr that he smashed onto someone’s head on one of the first tours 😀😀😀the riviera is the morning glory guitar I think he recorded most of the second album with that purple one …
Just had a good listen of all of Noel Gallaghers solo work and I'm telling you fantastic ! I'm mean the guy is so clever And how about this Guitar Fantastoc Total Repect For Noel Gallagher!
Great playing and review. If they priced it at $30,000. I still think it would have sold out. There’s too many rich blokes who just want it for their wall. 200 came and went like nothing. It would also be nice to see more shops be able to get them. I do hope they do another run one day, perhaps without Murphy’s Lab to strip the cost down a bit and be aimed at players. But on the other hand, Fender had no issue doing the “road worn” look and proper aging on thousands of signature artist models.
@@fepatton it’s also because it’s a match to what he plays in don’t look back in anger, check out the official video. It’s an exact match. It wasn’t until much later that he played that Gibson, I think.
Fantastic video. Quick question: I have this exact guitar, one of the 200. Is it normal that position 6 of the varitone is way softer and not as loud as the other positions?
Maybe some of those people should look at their concert that filled a football stadium and the concert had to be stopped as folks at the front were being squashed.
I think it's funny when people criticize Gibson for giving a sig to a guy who sold millions of records as opposed to their favorite, though way less well known, artist. I'm no Oasis fan, but he's sold waaaaay more records than a lot of the disgruntled suggestions of other players to get a sig.
The only one on Reverb is 13 grand. This will disappear like Alvin Lees 335 and Lonnie Macs Flying V - right quick. I knew I shoulda sprung for the yellow Gary Clark SG. Doubled in price.
He said that the the new gibson 355 signature is so good that he has put the original in shortage for the first time since he owned it whether this actually true a just a cynical ploy to sell more of the signature model who knows .
I only played mine for a few minutes before packing it up to sell on Reverb, but it was enough to figure out this is a pretty amazing instrument. The neck is too slim for my liking and I prefer a bit brighter pickups, but the amazing thing about the guitar is that it legitimately feels decades old. If you have actually played vintage guitars before, you’ll understand how incredibly hard that is to pull off. It feels like a brand new vintage guitar. That is such a cool feature that I would almost consider keeping it around a bit longer and letting the value increase before selling. Nevertheless, that will have to be the privilege of the next owner.
Great video. It’s interesting though. 8 mins on an extremely limited guitar thats probably sold out already, that nobody can buy because it’s so limited (and expensive). Then 30 seconds on a readily available guitar thats well priced. Why bother to advertise the custom shop one at all if they are most likely all sold? Bizarre. Still a great video and amazing instruments.
Wouldn't be Gibson if they didn't make them in such a limited number and at a price point to essentially keep them from the hands of the very guitarists they're marketing the guitar at!
Noel Gallagher wrote some of the most recognized and timeless anthems in Rock 'N' Roll history. He deserves all the praise as a song-writer.
@MUSIC = LIFE most probably think you're wrong
@MUSIC = LIFE writing a song everyone is as tired of as smoke on the water and stairway to heaven is a genuine accomplishment
@musiclife8893yes, you are.
It’s demonstrably true
Another American here who loves Noel’s songwriting and dare I say his guitar sound too. Epic man!
He was a genius when it came to playing exactly what the song needed. Not to mention his live guitar pedals and effects were amazing
