- In this video, we talk about 5 reasons why every photographer and videographer needs a 70-200 lens in their arsenal. No matter what camera and system you shoot on, the 70-200 is well known as a professional-level, workhorse lens and for very good reason. It's super versatile, boasts incredible image quality for a zoom lens, is fast focusing, built like an absolute tank and these days, it's more attainable than ever. With newer versions coming, older model prices are constantly dropping and there's more 3rd party options than ever before. Although it'll be one of your most expensive lenses, it will 100% last you forever and is a lens that should help you make money too!

Do you use a 70-200 lens? Let us know 👇
I wish!
It's my dream to own one someday!
Loved this Aaron. My husband and I watched from start to finish. We got an old used canon ef 70-200 years ago and it's still serving us well to this day. Apart from being it a bit clunky and heavy it's awesome!
That is awesome! Hope it serves for many years still!
My favorite lens as well! Not even people talk about how great these are for video as well. Enjoyed the video bro keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
It gives a much better view of the subject and also highlights the place, love the shots here! Thank you for this discussion, definitely learn about those lenses! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Glad to see your channel getting bigger and bigger. Loved the video mate and the shots you got are sick.
Thank you :)
You always have the best photo and video samples!
Thank you!
I always learn so much from your channel. I would love to try a lens like this but I don't think I could justify spending that much - even the cheap ones!
Really great video guys - always knew these were great for photography but makes sense it's great for video too!
Thanks for watching! :)
Going used is a good route to getting one of these. I picked up a used canon rf 70-200 f4 for a bargain recently. Agree I never go on a shoot without it on me, and as someone who shoots mostly landscapes, f4 is absolutely fine for me.
Yeah it's not going to be useable in all scenarios, particulary with run and gun style filming.
Awesome work Rudy Visuals team!
Thank you :)
Oh man, I'd love to get my hands on a lens like that...especially for wildlife shots. That's cool they are not too heavy anymore. Nice to have a lens that can do anything.. Great review Aaron. Great B roll shots in the vid too!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
Thank you for actually including so many photo and video samples. Sick of watching youtubers talk about lenses and just seeing a talking head for the entire video!
Glad it was helpful!
The best and most versatile zoom lens besides a 24-70 for sure!
It's defo up there!
Great vid like always. That 70-200 looks like a tank gun.
It definitely does haha!
Always wanted one but could never quite pull the trigger :(
It's beautiful video my dear. Greetings and love from Vietnam ❤
Thank you, I hope have been well Ms Anh!
Even the cheaper options are too expensive for me, but as a non professional, it's the kind of lens I admire but don't really need.
That's fair enough, it's defo overkill for just personal use!
Do you feel comfortable shooting with it in public spaces? I'd feel too subconscious using it for like street or travel.
Tbh I would not really use it if it was not paid work with other people and a crew. I do find that it can draw attention so it's not the sort of lens I would take with me like on a trip or for recreational use but that's just me, and I have everything insured anyway!
The new f4 sony looks amazing and it's so small!
It really is tiny!
Mr Aaron - when will you come back VN? And please can you bring this professional gear and lens so I can try them out? :D
How does the tamron compare to the sony? Is it a case of diminishing returns in terms of image quality and focusing speed?
I've used the g1 version and it's not quite as fast to focus but still pretty decent. Images did look a little softer but honestly not a huge amount. I've heard the g2 is a big improvement as well.
buttery smooth bokeh!!!!
3:21 are these running shots all done with the auto focus?
Yep, don't do any photography in manual focus much these days.
End game lens
You forgot the number 1 reason, it makes you look more pro so you can charge mo money!
Haha ssssh you will give away our secrets!
70-200 is a pros work horse but here in Singapore even the noobs have one 😆
How noob friendly is it? All the buttons confuse me on the lens >.
Honestly no more difficult than any other zoom lenses. The side buttons just give you additional controls for focusing.
One day I will get this lens!@@RudyVisuals
My dad calls this the ultimate convenience lens for lazy people haha because you can just stay in one spot most of the time!
Haha it definitely helps with that :D
Do you prefer 70-200 or 85mm for portraits? Loved the vid btw!
I do have a fondness for 85mm, especially at f1.2, but I like the versatility of the 70-200 more.
