    1972 Pea Picker Sting-Ray Krate with Rear Disc Brake, this bike was found in original condition and in need of some TLC and basic maintenance. The intro includes some images showing the bike as featured on the eBay listing and going through making sure all the pieces are there before restoration. This is the 3rd color of the 6 featured by Schwinn that I'm collecting and should have all six colors by the end of the year, I will be uploading videos as I acquire them and hope you stay tuned going forward...hope you enjoy it.

    Awesome! Isn't it cool when collectors finally let go of some of these crate bikes...so they can finish paying off their mortgages!! Look forward to seeing all colors together in one shot! You should try to get a hold of a Captain Kangaroo cardboard cut out to stand next to the bikes. He was a great spokesperson for Schwinn back in the day.

      Yes, the Captain Kangaroo life size cut out would be perfect in the shot 🕺🚲 I imagine I might sell mine when the retirement bucks run out🙄

    Very nice example, I've always liked the Pea Picker color on these frames, it looks great in contrast with the chrome and raised letter rear Slick, cant wait to see the final results. Thanks for sharing!

    The coolest bike ever! There will never be a bike that compares.. At least in my mind.. Nice work bringing back that fender! My Shwinn stuff is all rusty and it's amazing how much chrome is still there under the rust... The chrome quality is second to none.. I got a bunch of bike for free a few tears back and a lot of schwinn stuff.. Mostly womens bikes.. But at least one frame is identifying as a Mans bike now...hehe...

      Nice! I agree, these were the muscle bikes to own in the 70's, definitely the Hemi of bikes. Schwinn used some of the same colors Mopar used on their line up, including the Orange Krate, and Lemon Peeler as seen on the 'Cuda and Challenger 🔥🔥💪💪
      Thanks for watching 👍👍🔧🔧

    sold everything except my '69 apple krate. the last 20 years was fun going from city to city hunting down deals and damn near fighting over parts lol. enjoy.

      Nice... sounds like you enjoyed your collection and the trill of the hunt and not to mention the obsession to find the perfect period correct part... I actually have purchased a complete Krate in parts with the exception of the frame... I decided to look for a '68 Lemon Peeler and a '69 Apple Krate, that way I will have all 6 years and all 6 colors...
      Let me know if you ever decide to part with your Apple Krate... Thanks for watching

    These bikes had disk brakes before some of the cars from that era.

    Wow! I mean, WOW! These are beautiful bikes. Thanks for the memories! Question, how did you get the ding out of the fender? Im facing the same problem

    • @that70sschwinn
      @that70sschwinn  4 роки тому

      Thanks 👍Glad you liked it😏🚲 for the ding, I used a mallet and carefully hammered the damaged areas while pressing against a hard surface with roundish shape (Anvil) I worked the fender like a blacksmith and flattened the dings until they were smooth and less visible. Make sure you tap it just hard enough to avoid hammer dings.

      Sounds nice... you should be able to get $500 to $1200 depending on condition, I personally don't have the room for a tandem but I'm sure it's a cool vintage gem...good luck

      It's all original, drum brake, 5 speed. Good chrome. Original, slightly worn seats, gross and pedals.
