  • In this video, Carl Jocumsen shows how he is able to use MEGA Live TargetLock to lock onto an object that is behind the boat. In this instance, he was Spot-Locked upwind of a stump that he found on his MEGA 360. He then enables the TargetLock feature right on his 360 screen.
No matter the wind or current direction, TargetLock allows you to position your live sonar anywhere around the boat to lock on to your target.

One cool feature I found is if your networked you can share the MEGA 360 View from the bow unit to the console. I set the bow unit to 360 front view and the the console unit to 360 rear view . Works great, and my wife enjoys being able to see more of what's to the side of the boat and also around the boat behind it. I do remind her that what is shown 90° from the boat on 360 when you're standing on the back of the boat is not 90° from where you're standing but 90° off the front of the boat so the person in the rear has to cast forward to hit a Target. That being because all Target angles and distance to targets are referenced from the location of the 360 transducer. I have a solix G2 unit in the console and one at the bow.

What a coincidence that I just spent a few hours on the phone with humminbird last week resolving some issues with my network and this was the exact video I sent to them so that they understood what I was trying to do utilizing 360 to pick a direction to point target lock towards. Unfortunately brand new helix models are not given this function. It doesn’t make sense why that additional option would not be added to the drop-down when you move the cursor on 360 on a helix. I guess they want to get everyone to buy the new units. Multiple people who I spoke with at Hummingbird didn’t even know about this functionality, which is why I had to send them this video before it was re-posted on the humminbird UA-cam page

I also have found that the people that answer the phones at hummingbird do not seem fully educated and trained on the units so they may answer questions with intelligence. I have G2 solix units on my boat. But now I can't afford Mega live. I really hope hummingbird steps up their game for all of us long time users.

Five of those units! FIVE!!!!!!!!! High end units, which together with all of the separate special transducers would probably set someone back a good 25-30 thousand dollars!....Now, I am assuming, that this gentleman is sponsored by Humminbird, so it cost him a fraction of that price, if anything at all....that is a huge factor! Especially when the boat alone is in the 70 thousand range, which brings the package to the magical 100 thousand category, and which necessitates a 50 thousand vehicle to tow that rig...lol.....150 thousand dollar loan payments to an average working man, in addition to maintaining a house for his family? Puts things in perspective, doesn't it? Of course, though, naturally, it would be a dream come true for every bass fisherman, however, also keep in mind, that once all the pros do this, the playing field , once more, will be evened out, so, just like always, even with all this gear, there will be the hundreds who do not finish in the money...lol
