That went pretty well, fyi my battery on my similar F35 is on the top as well 👍

    Not bad all things considered!
I'd have crumbled it up 😅
Has there been word from parachute man? Or is he still gone MIA?

Parachute managed to escape from the insurgents that captured him. And hitched a ride in a VW Camper hippie bus back to his airfield. He's still being debriefed.

I wonder if the battery was repositioned below the wing instead of above it may help the stability.

I did wonder that too. Might try it. It's just a bit more vulnerable when landing if underneath?

My friend Cliff who has a big rc channel says the lipo on his F35 fighter is on top.

@@bobflyman 😜 There's a young Yank prat called Nate who has a really big RC channel - you ought to see the dumb mistakes he manages to make! 😱😈 (Sorry Cliff! 😉)
As you both know batteries are ideally best located at as close to the COG and Thrust/Lift Line as possible. But on these little plan-form foamies that would mean cutting another hole through the structure at the cross. Long and thin lipos fit best and closest to the sweet spot.
That foam held up surprisingly well Bob. We generally smear a very thin coat of hot glue along the edges of the nose cross section. At least for the first prototypes. Once you've got it reliably airworthy the next ones can drop the few extra grams. 👍👍😊

@@theoztreecrasher2647 Like the tip about hot glue on the edges, but as far as 'ideal location' for a lipo, reality isn't like that. Most foamies I build end up tail heavy, with flapperons even worse, and the lipo needs to be well forward to get a CG balance. This build I did my utmost best to keep weight forward. The 2x 2g servos are as far forward as I could get them, the esc and rx are as far back as I could get them and it was still nose heavy! And as far as long thin lipos go, I've got 1s small lipos that are long and thin, but never seen a 2s or 3s long and thin! Anyhow, for the sake of a fiver I'm going to build a V2 version slightly bigger. 3.7g servos further back which might allow the lipo to be further back. And maybe underneath? You can see that my idea was to get the lipo as close to the motor and CG. Only other thing I could do is add a little tail weight? All in all it survived really well as it's such a lightweight. Newton's Laws, The inertia of an object depends on its mass. More mass means more inertia. A greater resultant force will be needed to change the motion of an object with high inertia.

@@theoztreecrasher2647Hi Oz, you mean there's someone who makes more boo boos than me 😁 I was thinking about your comment about the battery being as close to the cg as possible... that's not right, I use the battery as a balance weight to get the cg where it needs to be regardless of where it ends up, apologies if I've misunderstood you 🙂👍
