I didn't order mine with plates but after a year, I put total bottom protection on it and it's allowed me to go more places then before. However, I've learned, in snow, it hurts more then it helps. It like dragging a pie pan over the surface and when you "bottom" out, your stuck.
My has some nice scratches on the sides and bottom. However, I have an 02 KJ limited and in snow, it will run rings around my 09 KK. Even with the nonslip/traction control. The 02 just feels more like a Jeep and it goes where you point it. In the 09, I have to stand back and think about it for a bit. ;-)
Oh, ok. Well, I have the standard 2wd/4wd hi/4wd low known as COMMAND-TRAC. So when I lift a tire or it looses traction, I'm toast. Thought about lockers but I rather put the 3in lift first. Not sure what locking system I want yet but it's not a issue as of yet. Thanks
@tc1uscg I was having a 05 KJ before the 09 KK. I didn't have absolutely no problem with it on trails. But since I must go on the highways also, I love the 09 KK because travels much better than KJ on highways and it is very good on trails. Perhaps it needs better tires than the ones I have (factory installed). Also, the place I live doesn't have much snow on winter. If I want to see snow I have to go on the mountains. You can't have it all with on car!
@tc1uscg I think that the KK is a bit lower at the front than the KJ, so that's an explanation of why can't go so far like a KJ on the snow. Nevertheless, the power of a KK CRD is more than enough!
I had selected the "4WD Auto" which means "Selec Trac II" mode. The system checks with ABS sensors and if the wheel spins then the system activates the brake to that wheel so the power goes to the other one.
@fackingshutup Well, I don't think that you can do damage on the trails. It is just made for this stuff. Do not be afraid to test it. The worst you can do, it is a scratch on the paint. But, you should know how to do it. And do not do it alone! Go for it! The feeling is great!
if you mean the letters 4wd then you have a problem and you should go your jeep to a Jeep Service Station. If you mean the orange light this goes for the ESP and it is normal if one more wheels are spining.
Well, if you live in the province you just need a 4x4! You see a lot of videos showing the capabilities of a 4x4 vehicle. In real life, though it can save the day and take you where you want no matter what the weather or the road is. You will never know why unless you buy one!
Didn't ask but do you have lockers or something? Notice the rear driver side spinning and in most standard drive train situations like this. Your not going anywhere once it's lifts it's hind leg.
My 2008 KK has part time 4WD and a 2.5" JBA lift - its very capable thanks to the traction control.

This would have been a perfect Jeep Commercial.
