For some reason it was really difficult to find a video on youtube explaining all these different shotgun games. Thanks so much for making a concise yet still informative video.
Thanks for this video. My Dad shot trap in the 70's and we tried Sporting Clays once in the 90's (we stunk, but loved it- club closed shortly thereafter) and was just pondering this question today whilst mowing.
Great video! I was just watching the Paris Olympics clay target shooting - trap shooting - and I wanted to learn the difference between trap and skeet shooting. Thanks for the quick, informative video. Greetings from Australia. 👍
Very helpful I was confused about the difference between trap and skeet, glad I didn’t assume they were the same and make a fool out of myself. Lol have a good day for reading this.
Grampa taught me shooting doubles in Trap with my single shot 20g … I was hitting 20/20 when I was younger maybe 6 … I friend bought me skeet shooting a few years ago … ruff start … but started holding low and knocking em dead
One thing I have noticed. All the videos I have watched, everyone is shooting double barrels. No one is using a pump or auto. Does anybody know why? Back in the late 70's I had a S&W 12 gauge pump with a 36" full choke. I never shot in organized matches. I have had my brother operate the thrower. I never knew what he was loading (singles, doubles or triples) or which way they were going till he pulled the cord.. 95% of the time I would shoot a box of shells and never miss a clay target. Back then I loved doubles and triples over singles.. That was 40? something years ago. I have just got back into shotgunning here lately. I don't remember a 12 gauge kicking that hard, but it does now. I'm thinking about going to a 20 or 28 gauge.
Yeah I just started back up shooting 5-Stand and the recoil really puts a hurtin’ on your shoulder the next day. Not like it once was in our younger years. 20ga would be a good transition I would think. 🤠👍🏻
Your order is correct, but there is a reason. Both Sporting Clays and 5-Stand is more difficult which makes the sport about hitting as many targets as possible. Skeet and Trap on the other hand is a bit easier so the sport is about not missing a target. So, is it more fun to get out there to try and break as many targets as possible or to go out there knowing that one miss (99x100) sends you home with a handshake and an empty pocket? Most if not all SC and 5-Stand shooters started out as skeet or trap shooters, but the pressure to try and achieve excellence was too much work.
Finally a good video that explains the differences with out rambling for 15 mins. Cheers

I was about to say the same thing! This is like the 8th video I watched and finally I get it! lol. Great clear and informative video!

Thank you for the quick and concise overview. You have demystified skeet and trap for me!
Thanks for watching! I am glad it helped. :)
Thank you for explaining the differences. I saw a video on shells and it mentioned these three target games without explanation.
Now I know.

Trap is a game for grumpy old men. Skeet is a much more social game.
Great help, thanks.
It was very difficult finding a video that explained this. If you could make a more comprehensive video that would be popular I would imagine!

I enjoy that you can do so much with shotgun makes it the better option for a first gun

My last name is Humphries, spelt the same 😂
Order of most to least fun. Sporting Clay's, 5 stand, skeet, trap. Just my 10 cents.
