I always love watching this sort of stuff; with how hyped up automation and automated production is, it's fantastic to see that the best stuff is still largely hand-fit by people who are simply the best at what they do.
This felt a bit like „Sendung mit der Metal Maus“. 😂 I love Austrian Audio. I bought a stereo set of OC818s a little over a year ago and they are awesome. Thanks for the video! It was cool to see how these mics are made. I love them even more, now.
Just received my OC18 a couple of days ago, shipped from Thomann to Sofia, Bulgaria. I have waited a full month for it because Austrian Audio had run out of stock (and that says a lot about the demand for these jems). Couldn't be happier with the purchase...the build quality, the ergonomics, the form factor. And then there was THE SOUND of it...big, round, detailed, not overhyped, great mids, round, firm and not boomy bass, articulate and refined highs, no excessive sibilance....been praising it to fellow colleagues for days already. I would be happy to get another one, yet whoever is the lucky winner, I am 100% positive he/she will be over the moon with it! Great piece of equipment, great kit...and at a great price too! Kudos, AA!
Jenny is so calm and composed while putting up with you being there, snooping around with a camera while she's working. She's so tolerant. I like the pink sticker at 5:01 lol Funny.
Thank you very much for the video. Most I liked is testing every single membrane and also testings in all pgases of manifacturing - guarantee for very precise quality . The video prompt me get jealous to posess such a jewel !
I had the pleasure to work with the oc 818, the oc 18 and the oc 16 in my study program and even met some austrian audio people at an event. The mics, the people and their story is amazing! Cool Video :)
Straight up, you're the bloke that inspired me to get into audio production during all the lockdowns. Something I never really thought I'd be capable of as a humble bass man. Now a few years in, finally a member of the Kult and loving everything I don't think I'll win, but I wanted to say thanks and Dängle Dängle Ps. My Grandma sends her regards
Cool to see the behind the scenes, there's a lot that goes into these mics. Austrian Audio going the extra mile on testing and QA is really great to see as well especially given how much a good condenser mic is!
Austrian Audio's mics are so so good. Only a matter of time before you see these used in studios everywhere. Once the old 414's run out these will replace them all.
It's the little details and the attention to detail that make all the difference. Yet another highly interesting and instructive video. Ok I'd like to add this wonderful microphone to my arsenal...
This was a great watch. I’ve always loved these “How it’s Made?” type videos. So Awesome, the amount of detail and care put into making these. Time to record some music, from Brutal to Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Kohle, Matt from Lima, Peru I got the Austrian oc18 and it will arrive soon. I dare say that I am one of the first in my country to get this microphone and all thanks to the fact that you show them in your videos. Thank you for showing us such good microphones and very valuable content.
Loved the video, was really cool to see just how hands-on the entire process is. I work at an audio gear store, and I recommend these mics to everyone that's looking for a perfect all-rounder studio condenser :D
I've been to Vienna many times, but didn't know that the OC818 was actually built there. This was very interesting to watch how this amazing mic is created, and I really liked Jenny's nails :)
I’ve been following you since your sessions with the URM Academy and it’s always a pleasure to keep following your journey and making us discover some wonders like these mics! Thank you buddy for what you do !
@@KohleAudioKult Ah, so that's why I can't find the one where you recommend what cymbals to use in the studio. I was having a discussion with a fellow drummer a few months ago about how I don't like "heavy" and "rock" crashes and wanted to send that video to him to support my point. Good to know that I'm not going crazy and just making things up in my mind :)
I love that one person assembled the whole mic. I’m trying to build up my mic collection now, but have never tried an Austrian Audio. This reminds me of the segment in “Mr. Rogers” where he would show you how things were made. Maybe Kristian could be the next Mr. Rogers.
It is nice to see assembly over the shoulder. I would like to have mic that is putted well like that, especially from metalhead like Jenny, which makes it more unique and special.
It is always a pleasure to watch such techy (nerdy) stuff about hardware - How it's made - love it. The process looks much simpler than it is maybe because we are looking at a professional staff and company such as Austrian Audio. Next stop Lewitt maybe?
I haven't had the chance to work with an Austrian audio mic, but I know I will love it! No, I love you, man! I have been learning a lot inside the KVLT and improving my mixing skills. You are the man!
appreciate the detail and explanation you give in your videos. you simplify the material to make it usable for everyone. thanks again. and yes...the microphone would be quite handy to have.
I got the OC818 recently and it's a my favorite mic for sure. Thank you for letting us peak into the process! Having an OC18 means a matched pair and that would be extremely useful for drums!
Very interesting! Real craftsmanship: a small team with real know-how, that's really nice to see! It would be cool if you could make a video comparing their different microphones.
I worked for ep with some local punk bard bend and with the OC16 we are recorded all vocals, acoustic guitar, guitars. and even bass and it was phenomenal sounding ep !
I thought long and hard (gigity) of what i would say to elicit receiving such a lovely mic i don't currently own. i kept coming back to "GIMME!!!!". fingers crossed.
BTW... if i was to win the mic. my initial plan with it, is to do a cover of "8675309/jenny" using the mic. id love to do a metal version of that song with Kristian. i can sing and play drums... you got the guitar and bass and keys?? ehhhh??? EHHHHHH??? :):).
My OC818 was in tears watching Jenny again from its childhood. Thank you Jenny!!
Haha! Nice comment. Jelly rules! 🤘
If every product on the planet was made with this much care and attention to detail, the world would be a much better place! Fascinating.

Brilliant. I love these 'behind the curtain' videos. Thanks Kohle and thanks Austrian Audio!

@@KohleAudioKult Thank you so much for the very insightful factory tour and the great content you have been providing so far!

Finally a comment about that one!
@@KohleAudioKult There's no tricking us! We have Hawk eyes. :)
Watching the mic being built with the utmost precision and care was fascinating!
Having studied these things in audio school, It Is beautiful to finally see how mics are actually made. Thank you Kohle and thank you Jenny ❤️

Totally missed this comment! So great to hear that! 🤩
For me the OC18 (and especially the OC818) is THE all-in-one solution, you can't have enough of them. Very cool video by the way!
The best Sendung mit der Maus episode ever, love this style. Also a great mic. It's real nice to see how much care and thought goes into this tech.
I love that they saved the "AKG" legacy in Vienna. The mics are awesome!
Impressive. Every mic is hand built and tested. Jenny makes it look easy!
Such care and detail in the manufacturing process. BRAVO !!!
Always fascinating to see the attention to detail that goes into making awesome mics!
This was one of the best mic building videos ever. Thanks Kristian!
That's incredible Kristian, you should do more gear breakdowns like these, they're so informative it's actually insane!
My OC818 f___king rips! Sound insane on heavy vocals! Nice to see how they build these mics!
The attention to detail putting this mic together is amazing. JUST as amazing as all the insights I've learned in the Kult!
Really cool to see the care and quality control that goes into every step of the manufacturing process. I'm impressed!

I already have four Austrian Audio mics, but certainly wouldn't mind another! Some of the best mics made today.
Watching professionals make masterpieces is always enlightening, I have a feeling that a OC18 would kick my little AT2020 all around the room.

Super impressive how such microphones are built and super proud of Austrian Audio as well as an Austrian :D I also really love their headphones 🙂
Damn dude I think that was the most comprehensive mic assembly video I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing it!
Knowing how those microphones are built is at the core of audio recording. Thanks for sharing this with us.

love that these are essentially hand made
Great to see that some things are still built with love and hard work. And it pays off! The Austrian audio stuff sounds amazing! 🤘
great insight into the process! I was suprised to see so much manual labor and testing involved into making just one mic. Incredible!
Thanks for the opportunity! Just knowing that sneap and richardson use the oc818 is enough of a quality check for me
Kristian, why does this reminds me so much of “Die Sendung mit der Maus” ? 🐭
Great video 🤘🏻
Love all the stuff you do! 🫶🏻
Die Sendung mit dem Kohle... now even I understand how they make these Mic's. Need to checkout this mic.

Been looking at this mic for a while now. Love to see how it's made. Great job and thank you!
I am so amazed by theye microphones. Just got a OC16 which is already great, but having an OC18 would be a blast.
Wow. Mir war nicht klar, dass eine Person so viele Arbeitsschritte übernimmt. Cool.
Now I know, why they sound so good. No robots or automatons in sight, just pure handwork. ♥
Always interesting to watch microphones being built, thanks for making this video!
Watching attention to details here is too satisfying! That PCB board is looking so clean and amazing 😀
Love seeing how the mic is built, I've been hoping to get one for a while now.
