This Azure active directory tutorial will help you understand what is Azure active directory and we will compare both Windows active directory and Azure active directory. You will also see a demo on how Azure AD works. Azure active directory serves as a core infrastructure component. It authenticates and authorizes domain users, computers, and active directory aware applications. It stores management data that you can use to control user and computer setting by using group policy objects. Azure AD extends the scope of authentication and authorization by using forests and trust relationships. Azure active directory (Azure AD) is Microsoft's multi-talent, cloud-based directory, and identity management service. Now, let us get started and understand how Azure active directory works and what are its benefits.
Below topics are explained in this Azure active directory tutorial:
1. What is Azure active directory? (00:11)
2. Windows AD vs Azure AD (02:19)
3. Service audience (05:07)
4. Demo (06:05)

Hello
Good presentation, but I think there is mistake on 3:13 minutes, you mention Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), but this is an Azure service used for big data/analytics. Maybe the "Active Directory Data Store", the database used for AD is the right one docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2003/cc736627(v=ws.10)
is this similar to the regular on-prem active directory ?
Also, can you add regular computer to the domain in Azure AD like the regular AD
Can I use an Azure AD in ruckus smartZone and how?
Simple and painless to understand. Thanks.

Hi. My user uses a linux machine. How do I configure the RHEL machine to use AAD as a sign in service? This is mainly to avoid a local sign in and control the access through the cloud? I followed the instructions on the Red Hat site for Azure AD, but unable to locate the Azure AD Realm in this case
Very good beginner video. Thanks.
You are welcome!

I guess there is a confusion. ADLS azure data lake storage service cannot be a layer of Windows AD?
thank you
You're welcome
Azure AD is not the new version of Windows AD. There are a lot of articles about that online, that state that fact. Here are some quotes:
- "Azure Active Directory does not understand LDAP, Kerberos or NTLM authentication protocols, therefore any on-premises applications that utilise Integrated Windows Authentication protocols, will cease to function"
- "Where Azure falls short, is that it doesn’t really manage on-prem systems or resources. For example, on-prem Windows (except for Windows 10), Mac, and Linux systems can’t be controlled for user access or systems management."
However, Azure Active Directory Domain Services is something else, and comes closer to the traditional Windows AD.
Hey Denis, thank you for watching our video and for the honest feedback and knowledge. We will definitely look into this. Do subscribe, like and share to stay connected with us. Cheers :)
Hi , are you referring ADLS as azure data lake storage service or AD light weight directory services ?
ADLS mearns Azure Data Lake storage only. Do subscribe to our channel and stay tuned.
When microsoft introduced Auzre Data lake services in Active Directory? it is LDS , Lightweight Directory Services not DLS. Azure Data lake services in part of Azure not on premise AD
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We reported this right away to the relevant department.

Can the Azure Active Directory run without any On-Prem AD? So that you fully manage your accesses through this cloud service?
Yes but you'll lose group policy...it's not a true replacement. Otherwise, sure.
Thanks for your insights!
Can u please show where is it that we can locate in Azure portal
just search for Azure active directory in all services and you will have users and groups all options on the left
ADLS - Lightweight services?
No. ADLS means Azure Data Lake Storage.
@@SimplilearnOfficial Yes and no: it should be Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (ADLDS). At that point in the video you're not talking about Azure, you're talking about Active Directory. Azure Data Lake Storage shouldn't have been mentioned in this part of the video.
I had the same doubt too .. we were discussing on windows AD, how come all of a sudden azure data lake has come into picture.. I paused the video to read on the comments to see if anyone had the same question too, I got it cleared now.. thankyou

you did not mention how AAD sync up with on premise AD
Hi Maruti, Thanks for the feedback. We shall share your concerns with the concerned department.
i watched fully ur video...but i cant undrstnd fully...nw just say in a single line ....what is azure active directory
Azure Active Directory is an Identity and Access management system. In short, it enables administrators to ensure that employees get access to all the resources they require. It also helps with managing user access.
Instead of creating a separate set of user id and password for each service you want to access, the azure active directory provides access to those services with a single set of user id and password. Azure active directory takes care of managing all the users and their authentication.
Thanks for your valuable input and guidance!
