As he states at the end of this episode, Don Ameche left TTTT to go to Hollywood and film Elmer Gantry starring Oscar winners Burt Lancaster and Shirley Jones and also Jean Simmons who played the part of the evangelist Sister Falconer. Ameche was set to play the prime role of William Morgan, Sister Falconer's revival producer and promoter. Delays in the start of filming, however, forced Ameche to give up the role and he was replaced by Dean Jagger.
Thanks for that. I always thought 'Elmer Gantry' was a great movie and when Don Ameche said he was going to be in the movie I could not remember him being in the movie. That would explain why.
At 24:38 Don Ameche says he's head to the coast to appear in "Elmer Gantry". He does not appear in Elmer Gantry. Per the IMDB: "Don Ameche was originally cast as William L. Morgan, but when the film's start was delayed, he left the production and was replaced by Dean Jagger."
I love how Don Ameche plugged "Elmer Gantry" and some of his co-stars at the end without mentioning Shirley Jones, who ended up going on to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for that very film. I guess the fame from being in "Carousel" and "Oklahoma!" wasn't enough. Then again, no one who got to know her as Shirley Partridge had ever heard of any of those films! LOL
Monique Van Vooren besides having pleasant features could speak 6 languages and write in two others Not a dummy. Polly was Polly. If you don't know, watch her many other episodes.
A rare episode when I was three for three. I've noticed that many times the real one takes the longest to turn and go down the stairs. It's as if they are more interested in listening to their own story than the impostors and they forget what to do next to play the game.
Disorienting, always, to hear people refer to people and islands being owned by the various international empires/powers that to this date play with those lives most cruelly. We know so much now about colonization, and our language can be adjusted accordingly. In so many ways awareness has indeed changed. “Belgian” Congo - oh that is a vicious, horrific history, that one; or “Dutch” West Indies, equal horrors! How strange. And we, too, in 2021 still think we “own” various “protectorates” that have been shown to be profoundly unprotected and abandoned save as we can extract resources and geopolitical placement as desired.
Polly gets crazier every week.
Terrific upload once again...lots of good laughs in this one. Just delightful.

I don't like the episodes with Polly as much. She's especially cringeworthy in this one.
I love how politically incorrect that this show was almost always sponsored by cigarettes!

An unhappy life indeed to be offended by everything.
You are so right to "adjust your language accordingly." That way, nothing you say has any meaning..
