    "the biggest thing in the solar system isn't the sun or Jupiter but Jupiter's magnetic field"
    umm what about the suns magnetic field, its about 3000 times larger than Jupiter's lol

      Its called the heliosphere (not sure)
      Its pretty much not fighting the suns rays , but its fighting interstellar space
      The size of it is 75-100 AU
      (AU= astronomical unit , or the distance from the sun to earth)
      So yea its big , goes way beyond Pluto's orbit

    If Earth had Jupiter's magnetic field, it would have a number of significant effects. Jupiter's magnetic field is about 20,000 times stronger than Earth's, so life on Earth would be exposed to much higher levels of radiation. This could have negative effects on living organisms, including increasing the incidence of cancer and other diseases. Additionally, the stronger magnetic field would lead to more intense auroras, which could disrupt radio communications and damage satellites. The stronger magnetic field would also deflect more solar wind particles, which would reduce the amount of erosion on the Earth's atmosphere.
    In addition to these effects, the stronger magnetic field would also protect the Earth from more cosmic rays, which would make it more difficult for high-energy particles to reach the surface. This would have implications for the study of geology and the atmosphere, as well as for the study of the origins of life on Earth.
    Overall, having Jupiter's magnetic field would have both positive and negative effects on Earth, and it is difficult to say whether or not it would be beneficial overall.

    "With such a big magnetic field, it will act as a particle accelerator and will no longer be able to protect us from solar radiation...." I somehow really doubt this, but I don't really have the knowledge to confirm or deny this. Can someone say if this is true?

    • @joshuarogers9508

      Well it also depends on Earth's gravitational pull as well meaning the size but absolutely

    • @rwgwrhghwrgwrgwr2933
      @rwgwrhghwrgwrgwr2933 2 роки тому +6

      yeh i dont agree, with an even larger magnetic field it will redirect charged particles at an even larger range hence probably provide even greater protection

    • @Kualinar
      @Kualinar 2 роки тому +11

      That much greater and stronger magnetic field will intercept over 1 000 000 times more charged particles from the Solar wind. This will make the Van Allen belts MUCH more intense and bigger.
      For those particles, the gravitational field effect would be less than negligible. Like much less than 10^10 times less important than it is now, and now, the magnetic field already affect nearly 1000 000 times more than the gravity.
      The particle flow making the polar lights will be 100's of times more intense than currently, and also, the polar lights will extend to a wider area.
      Our polar lights are mostly fluorescence. With the stronger magnetic field, they would be plasma based. The will also dig much deeper in the atmosphere. Possibly even low enough to force airplanes to fly lower to avoid getting melted by the plasma. Plasma polar light illumination is rich in UV light, UV A, UV B and UV C, plus a good dose of X-rays. How do you like the prospect of getting a Sun burn, at midnight, in only a few second ? Also, you are in South Carolina.

      Jupiter pull would pull the moon into earth

    • @Kualinar
      @Kualinar 2 роки тому +2

      @@nicolejohnson4786 The Moon only have weak residual magnetic field. Jupiter's magnetic field would barely make any difference at all.
      Take a random rock. How that rock react to a magnetic field ? The Moon would react pretty much the same way.
      We are talking about Jupiter like magnetic fields, not Jupiter like mass.

    There’s another factor to consider. The primary factor for the magnetosphere’s size is its interaction with Io (there are some good papers on it, though an overview of the Jupiter-Io System would explain it just as well.) Io’s connection to Jupiter is in the form of a magnetic flux tube which strips material from the moon, inflating the magnetosphere’s size to over twice what we would expect and creates the Io Plasma Torus.
    In other words, in this What If scenario we should be dealing with a similar relationship between the Earth and Moon, otherwise, the field is just as powerful, just roughly half the size.

  • @scotthoward3470
    @scotthoward3470 2 роки тому +1

    For clarification (and this is something that’s important when considering the content of the video), Jupiter is not 1,300 times larger than Earth. It is only 11 times larger than Earth. Instead, 1,300 Earths could fit inside Jupiter. I believe that the video creator is confusing volume with relative scale. If Jupiter was 1,300 times larger than than Earth, it would be truly monstrous in size, something as large as (or even larger than) some of the largest hyper giant stars discovered so far in the universe. To put this in perspective, the Sun is only 109 times larger than the Earth. Here is the information that I found at CalTech’s website about the relative sizes of Earth and Jupiter:
    “Jupiter has a diameter of about 88,695 miles (142,800 kilometers) which is more than 11 times the diameter of Earth. It's volume is over 1,300 times the volume of Earth. This means that Jupiter is so big that over 1,300 Earths could fit inside of it.”

    Albert Einstein was doubly right about the origins of geomagnetism. And these visions inspired me to study what was missing to complete the understanding of the mechanism for generating the Earth's magnetic field. Einstein expressed that the origins of geomagnetism were still one of the great mysteries of Physics and that the explanations should be related to the separation of electrical charges. In truth. The mystery has been solved.
    So forget the self-excited geodynamo conjecture to justify the origin of the magnetic field of the Earth, the Moon, and the celestial bodies. Magnetic fields can be generated not only by electrical currents but also by the movement of electrical charges. Earth's magnetic field originates from the solid inner core, not the turbulent liquid core. The foundations of electromagnetism mathematically proved this hypothesis. Learn more by accessing recently published manuscripts.
    What about magnetic reversals, why does this occur? Reversals occur due to the large impacts of large asteroids on our Planet. The mystery was solved.

    The inner, solid, and incandescent cores of the planets Jupiter and Saturn possess rotation axes with inclinations of 9.6 degrees and zero degrees, respectively, and, surprisingly, exhibit opposite directions to the rotation of their respective planets. What is the basis for the evidence? These planets have reversed their magnetism, which is caused by their core rotating.
