God help me, I was desperately in love with Fay Fife in 1977 and here I am 30 years later, an old man approaching 50, and she still sends shivers down my spine. And the music's tremendous, too!
B-52's had nothing on Rezillos. Rezillos were, and still are one of the loudest and most slammin live bands around. They're everything that Pop, Punk, Rock and Metal should be all in one. Pure fun.
This is USA calling... I saw the Rezillos at a reunion show in Washington DC in 2015. I met Fey Fife before the concert. (LUV that Scottish accent!) She was very friendly and happy to autograph my "Can't Stand" LP...
Nearly 40 years later i still listen to punk and oi .... these were fucking brilliant, onr of my favourite songs of theirs ,also love the track S.P.E.E.D 👊🇬🇧
It was this clip which got me into loving song...but Steve Wright messes up a perfectly good joke. It was Wilma Flinstone who wore that type of outfit. Betty Rubble wore the blue thing.
Couldn't help smiling at the description "Old Rock n Roll band from Scotland" :). Old it might be, but thank goodness great music never dies! And how dare Steve Wright (idiot) call Fay Fife Betty Rubble!
terrypussypower she’s dressed like a cavewoman obviously to stick in people’s mind on TOTP...I’m sure the Betty Rubble/Wilma Flintstone look was deliberate. The announcer is not being mean, he’s just having a joke
@dilkydik211 AsK 10 people what is New Wave you get 10 answers. "New Wave" was originally named to make punk rock sound less threatening. By '78-'79 it meant the experimental and pop side of punk. By 82 in the US(not UK) it meant most any new act be it, Post punk,alternative/indie and especially Synthpop/New Romantic "Second British Invasion" bands. People still are arguing over it.. As for me Rezillos were punk transitioning into New Wave and great no matter what you call them.
Karina Szczepaniak yeah but this isn't post-punk. This is just straight-up punk rock! Post punk would be stuff like the Cure, The Jam, and Siouxsie and the Banshees
@ChrisYonts alot of bands these day play stuff that isnt wimpy commercial shit and is better then the old stuff. you just havnt heard it because your old xD
ah i wasn't lucky enough to see them back then, considering i wasn't born for another ten years... but i saw them in august this year, i recorded some of it, but the sound quality is shit and the camera is terribly shakey.
I like how the drummer gets up from his kit while the drums on the tape are clearly still playing. I guess it was no secret that Top of the Pops was faked.
Douchey announcer can't resist a jab at Fay's appearance.
+Mental Set Yea - what a twat
It was meant to be a joke
Well she is wearing the outfit. Talk about oversensitive.
He's supposed to ignore it? The Rezillos were all about sound AND visuals, you idiot joy-killing spazz.
She was dressed as Betty Rubble you idiot
God help me, I was desperately in love with Fay Fife in 1977 and here I am 30 years later, an old man approaching 50, and she still sends shivers down my spine. And the music's tremendous, too!
I'm in the same boat aged 64!
B-52's had nothing on Rezillos. Rezillos were, and still are one of the loudest and most slammin live bands around. They're everything that Pop, Punk, Rock and Metal should be all in one. Pure fun.
Fay, Eugene and the Rezillos still going "radge" today
Such an underrated group. Great to see they are still on the road. Faye is still gorgeous ❤
Seen the Rezillos in Manchester when I was 13. Had a crush on Fay Fife and Gayle Warning. God Bless you all. You Tube is fcuking brilliant.
This is USA calling... I saw the Rezillos at a reunion show in Washington DC in 2015. I met Fey Fife before the concert. (LUV that Scottish accent!) She was very friendly and happy to autograph my "Can't Stand" LP...
Written by John Callis - the left handed guitarist in the kilt - who went on to join the Human League and write Don't you want me.
I knew he was good.
Still the best band to come out of Scotland.Top class!
I watch this every Friday night while having a few beers before going out.
Nearly 40 years later i still listen to punk and oi .... these were fucking brilliant, onr of my favourite songs of theirs ,also love the track S.P.E.E.D 👊🇬🇧
Rezillos have been one of my fav bands since the 70s!!! Rock on!!
I fucking loved `em sort of Ramones meets Hanna-Barbara in Princes Street.
Just great
Must go and see them if they're playing live again. Good to see you appreciate brilliant music that was before you was born.
What a beautiful woman!
this was my favourite song, 30 years ago,
and I still watch it once a week !
Well done mates!
It was this clip which got me into loving song...but Steve Wright messes up a perfectly good joke. It was Wilma Flinstone who wore that type of outfit. Betty Rubble wore the blue thing.
Fay is the best. Love her energy.
This band rocks live and seeing them in 2014 or 2015, they still sounded the same. 👍
They're still playing...and Fay Fife still looks amazing. I don't know how she does it.
I love the Flintstones slam in the beginning. Love Scotland!
BRILLIANT!
I saw em live at rebellion festival, one word: amazing.
Classic Punk Band from the 70s !!! The Rezillos are F.A.B.
Best Punk band ever.
THE most underrated group. Nothing more said. Legends x
How do you know they were underrated?
Couldn't help smiling at the description "Old Rock n Roll band from Scotland" :). Old it might be, but thank goodness great music never dies!
And how dare Steve Wright (idiot) call Fay Fife Betty Rubble!
+John Coogan What's wrong with Betty Rubble? She was a babe!
+terrypussypower You've missed the point you end
Steve Smith Oh yeah? And what "point" was that then?
terrypussypower she’s dressed like a cavewoman obviously to stick in people’s mind on TOTP...I’m sure the Betty Rubble/Wilma Flintstone look was deliberate.
The announcer is not being mean, he’s just having a joke
Of course with Jo Callis (The Human League ) on guitar - nice kilt! And produced by Martin Rushent - look him up kiddies.
Me encanta TODO en este vídeo, y especialmente el tupé y las gafas del cantante. :-)
Pure Punk!
Rezillos Rock!!
That's a fine bit of Rubble too.
Fantastic 👍
This was made aware to me on a totp2 clip -“the space oddity special “. Betty rubble dancing away there. So, is it a song by about flying into space?
Great stuff. Love em. Gotta see em. Keep missing their gigs
..... only reason I can think is that she's wearing a Betty Rubble outfit ;)
Great track !
Are the audiences on Urunus?
when and where was that mate. only saw them once, at manchester apollo in 1978. awesome.
Wilma wore white. That dress is modeled after Fred Flintsone's attire...
Either way, nice clip.
silence is better than 90 percent of todays unoriginal soul less shit
long live real punk!
The Chick in the fred flintstone outfit is obviously as high as a kite....I like her....
the lead guy singer at some angles reminded me of conan o'brien.
@63punkaddict I love her 'cause she does good sculptures
@FreedomSaoirse Are you serious? Faye was my childhood crush. I need to know the truth about both bits. H addict? Nah way!!
Acts like this put revivalist danceable fun back into rock music in the late 70s.
Does anyone remember Chow Parrot ? Another Scottish legend.... CP and the Rezellios gigged together a fair bit......
OMG! Gimmicky! (Singer's got a surprising good voice.)
@dilkydik211 AsK 10 people what is New Wave you get 10 answers. "New Wave" was originally named to make punk rock sound less threatening. By '78-'79 it meant the experimental and pop side of punk. @gabbahfc Aahh.. Jo Callais, the songwriter
is so great look she moving everytime
very nice to see Betty Rubble working again . . . LMFAO!
Babe of the century...and still cute!
Jo Callis on lead guitar...the only one anyone remembers from The Human League (apart from Phil & The Girls😂)
the best of new wave/post punk
Karina Szczepaniak yeah but this isn't post-punk. This is just straight-up punk rock!
Post punk would be stuff like the Cure, The Jam, and Siouxsie and the Banshees
she certainly does, especially with that dress on ;-)
Man or Astro-Man? Covered this last night and brought me here.
God... so underrated.
PENETRATIONS too!
Is Fay Fife the only singer to sing with a Scottish accent?
Alex Harvey paved the way, Fay followed and now most Scottish bands sing in their own accents.
Really? The Proclaimers are the only ones I know of, apart from Fay. Most singers just sound generic/ mid Atlantic
what a kick ass performance
When and where do we get the full version of this excellent tune?
I had no idea Conan O'Brien was in The Rezillos.
I had record's
Never saw em' on the tele
😍
I have this track on 7" single, but cannot find it anywhere on CD :(
Help!
Still touring
Yes?!?
YYYYYEEEESSSSS!!!
I wish bands could write 'em like this these days.
If these were around now and had a good label they'd be popular....... Probably ......
+Steven Stratton They are around now and they are great...saw them last night....fabulous live
⛓⛓🖤🖤⛓⛓
she still looks hot.
More like Wilma with a Betty wig. Rezillos ROCK!
bought their first single in 77!
@ChrisYonts alot of bands these day play stuff that isnt wimpy commercial shit and is better then the old stuff. you just havnt heard it because your old xD
Well said Mr. Yontz
Eugene is a Wednesdayite
another fucking class song, screw the fucking X-factor this is the way forard, even though it is 20+ years old.
Great punk-esque song. Venus is the only planet with the misfortune to sound like a male body part when mispronounced
Fae dundee best. Fife band punk rock band
@LTandDS LOL - he's a very diverse guy, is he not?
Great punk/new wave timepiece. Eventually a MoAM? cover in Surf Rock format in the 90s.
ah i wasn't lucky enough to see them back then, considering i wasn't born for another ten years...
but i saw them in august this year, i recorded some of it, but the sound quality is shit and the camera is terribly shakey.
fkin brilliant
@Telstar62a yeah !
that's fuckin' great!
Was she actually fae Fife then?
best song by the rezillos?
@NigeTelly YOU FORGOT ALEX!
Mr Pedantic here :) at it's closest to the earth, Venus is nearer 40 million miles away, not 20. I'm just sayin',
I'd rather say power-pop band than punk but it's a really good rock'n'roll band
conan o'brien??? :DDD
Oooooooo bab-bab-bab ba-oooooooo
Fay Fife, yummy. No.48 in the charts?.
hahahahah the string dance
I like how the drummer gets up from his kit while the drums on the tape are clearly still playing. I guess it was no secret that Top of the Pops was faked.
lol, that's funny, cause i don't think they pretty much the same thing, still the b-52's are my favourite band, and i also love the rezillos
Can't both bands be excellent?
damn, conan o'brien rocks!
@magoelise hahahaha! totally!!!!!
isn't fay fife the most beautiful person you have ever seen on stage?
jonjuliecat fine lookin lady
this isnt just straight up punk?
Punk / New Wave
its a magical thing from an unrepeatable era
JackIntheBox I really wouldn't call it New Wave. At least this one particular song. This is definitely the more rock side of punk rock
