Hi Gabby, I absolutely LOVE your videos. Thank you so much for making them, I understand how time consuming it can be. My husband and I have watched almost every single one of your videos, and found them to be super entertaining and helpful.
I would love some advice if you don't mind? I want to start as a wedding planner and have no clue where to even begin.
Where should I start, I was thinking with a business card, and hand it to venues? But then how do I work out my pricing? I live in a small town in South Africa with very few planners in our area so feel that there is definitely space for me.
I studied event planning & management, and have worked in the Superyacht Industry for the past 9 years (4 of them as Chief Stewardess). We do table scaping, flower arrangements, events/parties, beach setups, etc. on a daily basis, I am not scared of long hours and hard work. November last year I helped a friend with her wedding of 60 guests, to see if I liked it... spoiler alert, I had a blast.
I am terrified to start my own thing, but so ready to move land based and away from the boats.

Hi Chantelle! Wow thank you so much for your kind comment and so glad you found these helpful!
Ok first of all how cool that you worked on super yachts, that would have so many unique challenges that definitely prepared you for wedding planning.
I would ask to do venue tours and try to connect with the venue manager/owner rather than just drop off your business card. Maybe you can offer to bring a photographer with you and get photos of the venue that everyone can share on their blog or social media. Something we’ve been doing lately is posting “luxury venue spotlights” where we pick venues we’d love to work at and feature them on instagram. We tag them and share information about their event space to our audience.
Also, if there’s a wedding planner collective or association you can join locally, do it!

what TIME tool do you use on the day of the wedding? Do you set your phone alarm from time slot to time slot?

Oh great question! I feel like I just glance at the time on my phone but I will set a few alarms for certain things like: light candles, grab surprise dance floor props or things that might now flow as easily or don’t involve other vendors. I also tell my whole team so at least one of us can remember 😆
