I remember doing a course with some workmates on how to use the Internet back in 1996 in the city. 😀
I can feel the 90s vibes. Take me back.
Amen - Sydney was incredible then
@@larazeesk7080 meu sonho é conhecer Sydney, sou brasileiro
i love this remember going into the city as a little girl
It was special going into the city for me from Randwick
late 90's early 00's may fave time in Sydney, rent still ok, not overdeveloped like now and we were still pre digital age where everything is streamed now, I actually made a social event out of going to a video store with friends to pick films, now we call each other nazis on twitter, so sad.
Jeez, those classic cars.
This would’ve been filmed in 1998, as the Hilux at 0:16 was released in that year.
According to Australian Car Reviews the Mk6 Hilux was released in October 1997. Is there a chance that the Hilux shown is an updated Mk5 Hilux? The Wikipedia photo shows that the updated Mk5 has headlights similar to the Mk6.
To be honest, I am not a Hilux fanatic.
@@user-kc1tf7zm3b That definitely appears to be an October 1997-onwards Hilux Workmate ute. Doors and cab are a different shape to the previous generation.
@@munnsie100 0:41 The Audi A4 is definitely the original B5 series from the 1994 European launch. The 99.5 update did not materialise until, you guessed it, 1999. Which was rather strange as the successor B6 series was launched the following year in 2000.
The inaugural Audi A4 was an incredible compact executive saloon in its day. In 1997, the Audi A4 Quattro came second in the controversial AMP Bathurst 1000, with a BMW 320i E36 driven by the Geoff and David Brabham brothers winning the ‘international’ race. Larry Perkins and Russell Ingall won the traditional V8 Supercar Primus 1000 Classic race, held 2 weeks later, in a Holden Commodore VS.
In so many ways, 1997 was a memorable year.
That aqua jump suit at the start, classic.
video must have been filmed in the year 2000 (or after) judging by the van shown in 0:57 Rego plate AIY70F came up as the same model of vehicle shown and states year 2000, it is still on the road to this day as of December 2023 :)
This is how I remember the city
Oh look at all those new FALCON's!!!!
Spent loads of time in the city in the 90's
Judging by the cars, I'd say this would be 97 or afterwards.
1996 at the very earliest, with the Mazda Demio and Audi A4.
@@eccIefechan According to Australian Car Reviews, the Audi A4 B5 was released in August 1995.
If the Hilux at 0:16 is a Mk6, then this means the video was shot after October 1997.
... we need to find MORE FOOTAGE of the George St Cinema Strip from this era !!
I grew up in Hornsby I miss Sydney
2019 not much change Sydney
It looks pretty much the same except for the fountain that is there in Martin Place
1:26 Mitsubishi Colt
Looks like it was shot on 16mm.
So many old car in good condition
Pais do meu Amado Andy Whitfield 💙💙
Falcon taxis replaced by Camry taxis.
who would've thought that 20 years or so later there would be a terrorist attack right there, in martin place...
Tiago Farias back when we didn’t need to worry.
Never forgotten the Lindt Cafe siege. I was working in nearby Potts Point at the time and I'll never forget the platforms of Martin Place station looking like a ghost town as my train went past there on my way home back down south that night.
Before the great population replacement
Surprised we didn't see an addict do an arm robbery
nice time fish n chips 4bucks...
for some reason this doesn't seem like Australia.. it feels like England
look at all those crap cars that still exist today
Sydney is way too car dependent, that's for sure. Probably because it's public transport system leaves a lot to be desired.
Fucktard our "Public" transport is terrible we have trains and train lines from the early 1900's still and the shittest rail network in the developed world.
Well said, my friend.
@@ut2k4wikichici You really need to get out more. I moved to SA in 2015 and the Adelaide Metro network is a cattle truck service compared to the Sydney rail network.

Look at all those useless Commodores
awkward moment when there were only 2 Commodores in all the shots
Useless Commodores? My VT Commy with 410,000 ks on it still runs like a charm and never ever let me down when travelling to work.
