    If you don’t have any extra gaskets that sit down over the holes that you screw the lock down twists in to hold the cover I recommend picking up some the next time you’re in carrier. They tend to fall off and get lost.

    The cover is probably the way Carrier gets you to bring the unit to them, due to wearing out faster. Contained heat inside the case doesn't help at all.

    Lucky I didn’t make the vid. My fat a*s lol. I might go back to trucking this retirement thing don’t work out lol. I remember when the capacitor went bad on that unit. It was right in the way of the oil filter and you slid it back in the capacitor bracket to clear the filter. 2/3 of that capacitor is hanging in space. I guess Carrier expects you to remove the capacitor every time you change the filter, you really should move that capacitor back to the center of the bracket. Or move the bracket back if you can. Bracket will crack one day IMHO. My two cents. Be safe.

    I've always had EPUs (Or nothing.) Do these APUs keep Engine coolant warm in the winter for easier starting? Maintain the truck batteries too? Like if the weather is nice out and you're doing a reset without needing AC/heat. could you avoid running this thing and just start it when you need to top up the batteries?

    • @TheCraftyTrucker
      @TheCraftyTrucker  4 роки тому +2

      That is exactly how it works. Keeps the engine coolant warm charges the batteries provides AC when we’re sitting if we need it. The biggest thing for us is that prevents us from idling which with these new trucks can be very bad for the emissions systems

    Hi Craftys... is that a split system? Then that would be compressor cooling inlet or exhaust? Is radiator clean? Wrong positioning of unit if it's exhaust air... cowling will reduce airflow so will mudflap... maybe water misting pre radiator to increase thermal transfer? ( cooling / cleans as well ) just some ideas... regards a re-tired whiteliner.

      Lol carrier didn’t design it. They bought the comfortpro line from another company who designed it. Impco in Canada designed and owned comfortpro before carrier. I have had the pleasure of learning this stuff from them before carrier bought it and forced them to remove all the helpful videos they had. In case you didn’t notice I have a huge mud flap in front of the APU that did just fine protecting it. FYI any time you place a cover over vents that absolutely restricts air flow.
