I think on days like this lure choice was not of huge importance as we also had them off the top using this -

Links above are affiliate links so i might get a small amount of commission from amazon and lure fishing for bass.
However my intent is to only recommend stuff that works and i can definitely vouch for the above !
It always worth trying some cheaper lures in these situations. Ive been changing to single hooks and find the 1/0 versions here working well despite loosing three fish today. lurefishingforbass.co.uk/vmc-...
As always please comment on the video id love to know how your getting on as we enjoy some extended summer weather - Навчання та стиль
Amazing video Matt, what a sight to see them seals surrounding the Bass and pinning them close. What a memorable session in lovely conditions, great angling.
Yes indeed thanks for that
@@SaltwaterAngler I meant to comment this on your recent video but somehow it ended up on a 2 year old one! It's a terrific video I watched it again earlier.
Well done, not only finding the bass but the care you take to ensure they go back properly.
Thanks David, its not always this easy , single hooks do make things easier and i set a camera up for the release shot so im not fumbling around. Thanks again for your comments recently , as always much appreciated
Been binge watching your vids Matt. You are an inspiration. So informative and entertaining. Really appreciate the work involved with making the vids. Thank you for making them and sharing them with us.
Thanks for your kind words. It sound like I’m being cliche but it’s comments like yours that keep me going and striving to make them better, much appreciated Paul.
Some good size Bass Matt nice 👍
Another interesting and productive video. Good to see the comments from beginners which is very encouraging! One thing i don't see so much is youngsters fishing on my travels. When i was young the breakwaters would be packed in the school holidays. Lets hope you inspire a few! Such a great pastime
As always a wonderful video. Thank you. Appreciates the time and and effort you put in editing and uploading your footage.
Appreciate you mentioning it !
Cheers Matt, very helpful advice, you've helped me through this last 18 months, tight lines buddy!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching and the comments
Nice one Matt 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great day out for you Matt. Thanks for sharing it.
Well done Matt. Very well deserved too! Always refreshing when you post a new video, especially such a successful one! Plenty more to come now too I’m sure!
Thanks for watching Josh , yes there’s another good bass session coming too
Great fish Matt…..
Good to watch. Supposed to be out on a charter today from Eastbourne …..blown off … wind.
But great to see you had a few Bass! Lovely clear water!
Tight lines

Ahh thats annoying for you. I seeSimon at Deep blue is going to be running charters there. Thanks for watching and as always let us know how your getting on in the comments
Nice to get so many Bass from the shore Matt great video cheers. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Some nice bass good stuff there cracking fish
What a fantastic day you had Matt, enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing &well pleased for you
Hi Stephen , thanks again mate - actually had a very similar day the day after I’ll try and get this out soon to show you
Great session Matt,I think you deserved to get excited ! Always pays to keep an eye and ear out for gulls and terns.
Indeed , kittiwakes can be golden and listening to turns too
Another great video, my local north Cornwall spots aren't doing well for the bass at the moment, having more luck on the south coast, it's been a very strange year, always good to see your videos, keep up the good work
Interesting it’s not been the best of summers but maybe Autumn will bring us some bigger fish east and west
Great videos Matt, very inspiring. Did my first ever lure trip yesterday, very quiet with several seals around. Did manage to get one schoolie though on a popper so christened the new gear
Nice work!thats still good. On the seals ive noticed that ill still catch if they around and active.
Luar biasa strike nya
Mancing di laut menyenangkan
Great video Matt I really need to try using the zonk a lot more.
Informative as always, and well done... 👍 One of my Patchenko trebles is a double. 3rd barb in the shoulder of silly gull cruising the Sussex coast...
Thanks again, always seems to be the immature herring gulls that get tricked . I retrieve fast at the last minute
Those schoolies are roughly the same size , good job Matt .
I was down today on a cracking spring tide. There was birds everywhere. Groups of Guillemots. A few chased my lure.
I got a couple of bites on a soft plastic Reins Rockvibe. Nothing on the Patchinko or a Seeker. Hopefully, tomorrow is the same conditions.
Cracking session Matt. 🎣
Hi Ian thanks mate
Another great video thanks Matt, and well done on the Bass! I managed to get out for the first time in weeks to a similar mark here in South Devon, and I couldn't believe the amount of Whitebait & Bait fish that were being chased up on the shore, mainly by Mackerel I think. Well christened the new Lure rod with an SG Surf Seeker - I had 6 really good sized Mackerel for the pan! The guy I was with had a couple of Bass too. Stay safe & well - Dave. 👍👍
Good stuff Dave, I enjoyed reading that - there’s always a chance the bass are in behind those mackerel shoals
Enjoyed your latest creation, especially the underwater shots of the release.
Nice to see you having a good session.
Let's hope the super trawlers and eu boats, that are apparently in the channel and south North Sea, don't hit the bass as hard as they are hitting the mackerel.
Stay safe mate. 😷
Thanks Ian , it’s not been great for mackerel this year that’s for sure
Damned seagulls, but you were on the money, with good fishing. Following the feeding gulls and local seals put me onto my present bass mark, and it's a gem.
Good one, I’m defiantly looking out for them now!
Good session 👍nice to see fish released properly
Thanks 👍 to be fair id imagine the small ones could be dropped in ok but maybe some practice if i ever get a big one this year !
Great video mate, its great to catch lots in a session on the lures
Thanks mate
Caught 4 in 1/2 hour last week - first time bass on spinning rod😀 Seems to be glut of them this year, maybe lack of mackeral bringing them in
I think they are replacing mackerel as the mackerel are extinguished.
Well done lad
Cheers Tony, I was starting to feel the pressure of another blank !
Had a juvenile gull pick up my surface lure at Whitstable recently. Had to yank it off him.. lol
I had a seagull on a top lure once, hook in one nostril and out the other. Managed to get it out fine but there were a couple of upset kids on the beach bless em. Was nice when he flew off ok though 👍
You want to try a Cormorant lol, I had one on a deadbait fished for Pike, it was vicious!
@@smitbar11 What a catch 😂
Almost motivated me to get my bass rod out before the end of the season!
Plenty of time !
Fun fishing for Bass! I've been to the Marina a few times now in perfect mackerel conditions.(just to observe) There were precious few fish coming up. Very disappointing - but not surprising. How I miss seeing the float zoom below the surface.
Hi Kerry , that’s the way it goes isn’t it
@@SaltwaterAngler Good News ! I went to the Marina Eastern arm and for the first time this year there were Mackerel coming up in numbers. Not huge numbers but far greater than I have seen so far this year. I will post some video.
@@kerryfoster1 yes get in !
@@SaltwaterAngler At last. Had 15 mackerel off the east arm Brighton Marina. First time in years. I will be bassing this Autumn! Taking the rods out of mothballs 😁😁😁😁
Hi Matt, i just squash the barbs down on my trebles now, i tried the single hook thing, and was missing several hits..
Thanks Wayne useful info there
I broke my pb two days ago, unfortunately it was a herring gull.😕 Great session Matt.
I dear, easily done- sinking lures helpful !
Nice work still waiting for my first lure caught bass
You re not alone. We have to persevere... 💪🏋️♀️🎣
@@robregist best get back out there then ha ha
@@leoncox2405 heading down to Eastbourne with my daughter tomorrow... more a day out than fishing but 🤞🤞
@@robregist have a great day and good luck man
Some great footage again especially the underwater ones I see you mentioned about the treble hooks I’m in the process of switching from trebles to singles can you recommend any singles if you can cheers ☘️👍
Yes I have a long list on the subscriber email and there’s some suggestions above in the description-
@@SaltwaterAngler cheers 🍻👍
Thoroughly enjoying watching your vids Matt - as a beginner I’m finding them both informative and inspirational. Won’t lie, looking forward to my first Bass, I’ve always had this thing about catching my tea! In retirement now and as soon as I’m fully recovered from my hip replacement I’ll be hitting the beaches again. One question, what sort of distance are you achieving there with those casts and do you advocate using weights at all with the lighter lures?
Hi , I can get a 50 m cast with favourable conditions. 9ft rods give some advantage, it’s also worth remembering to pace your self as you could be spending hours casting and retrieving so I never really max out. As your aware distance is not key to where the fish are it’s very very mark specific. However as a general rule be confident casting short. Putting lots of casts in to the surf zone can pay off.
I do not advocate using weights but that’s more to the shallow sussex beaches where distance and depth is rarely an advantage. All depends on your mark but generally soft plastics and definitely hard plastics fish better without additional weights. Hope you get back to full fitness and let us know how it goes when you return.
@@SaltwaterAngler many thanks for the tips Matt and keep up the good work!
The first Bass i ever caught was on a mackerel spinner fishing by the lifeboat station Shoreham Harbour. I was a school pupil. It weighed 3/4 lb.....that was over 50 years ago!
This video helped me a lot, manage to bag myself a nice bass as well, where is this if you dont mind me asking.
Great glad it helped. Can’t put the location though as it’s on the internet as we have people who will put the nets down
@@SaltwaterAngler Understandable! Thanks again! 😁
Could you catch those on a wobbled / twitched deadbaits? Something like a Sprat or small Smelt or even a dead Perch or Roach? I've had plenty of Pike doing that, it's pretty deadly
Yes absolutely a great method.
Wow......I lost count......Got to be 12 at least😂😂. Awesome. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟.
Clever editing ! 9 I think , but with some lost footage. Between me and you Nigel I had another 8 from here the following day , also a video now being edited
@@SaltwaterAngler I had 20 in one session last week. The seagulls and Terns came to me and the bass were everywhere. Great fun. Seagull picked the lure up....dropped it and it got smashed by a bass..All schoolies but best fun ever. 👍
Hi Matt, great session 👍 how far does the zonk cast? Most of the lures I’ve got cast like a wounded 💩. Caught 90% of bass this year with white seekers and surf seeekers with assist hooks added. Keep it up mate👍
Cheers Steve, the zonk casts really well but it’s technique that’s 80 percent of the distance - white seekers seem a good bet dont they. Thanks again for your input
Unusual for you to not give an indication of the shoreline you are fishing? I'm over at Kingsdown today (and the weekend) and the water couldn't be more of a contrast. Might head east early on Monday morning - not sure I wanna go much past Pevensey tho, as I got to get back to Colchester in the evening.
Yes the water has got a bit more milky in these winds . Good luck if your fishing still a bass or two in these conditions
@@SaltwaterAngler tks, tbf its clearer than my local spots at Walton/ Frinton. Tight lines 👍
Hi Matt, went on my first go and it was at Mawddach estuary Barmouth, 5.2m tide came in like a train and a brick on the line would have swung round in a second, caught some weed though lol. Can you tell me what strength braid and flouro you use please with the lure fishing, thanks
18lb braid and 20lb fouro (or close to it) interesting conditions there
@@SaltwaterAngler Thanks for that, won't be going there again and the chip shop was shut as well so we didn't even get one with some batter on it lol
😂😂😂
Did you use the same lure to catch all the Bass? What do you think of savage gear? Nice and an amazing day of fishing!
mostly the zonk but also the komomo had a couple and one off the surface on the bent minow
Did you take any for the table ?
I did yes 👍
Hi, i would like to buy a Shakespeare Ugly Stik Elite Spinning Rod but i don’t know what size, 2.10m 18-50 g, 2.40m 20-50g, 3.00m 18-50g. Wich one is the best option? I want to use this rod for spinning sea bass fishing and cast for long distance. (Sorry for my english) 😁 thanks
Where do you fish , what part of the world ? That will dictate your choices
@@SaltwaterAngler i live in Uk, Bournemouth, Dorset. I usually fish for pike, perch with a Shakespeare fishing rod Ugly Stik gx 2 6ft but I also want to fish at sea because we have some wonderful beaches for bass fishing.
@@SaltwaterAngler so what kind of rod it will be ideal for bass fishing and what size is good? Thanks a lot.
3m 18-50 from that list from the shore for me
@@SaltwaterAngler thank you so much. And what kind of reel do i need to use for this rod? Can you give me 2 opinions please? Thank you
What’s the bait fish at this time of year?
Great question …. Whiting moving in
Inspiring, location please.
ThNks LIGHT , too secret this one unfortunately we have commercial netters following UA-cam too. It would be wrong of me to mention it here. However this is close to Hastings in East Sussex
@@SaltwaterAngler Thanks 😊
Should have taken the shotgun 🤣
Where's this matt? Looks like Pagham
Not pagham - I’m worried about the nets coming down so will decline to say exactly where
@@SaltwaterAngler no that's fine I totally understand mate you're absolutely right 👍
It’s a shame because it’s always interesting where things are . I also want to know the location of some of the youtubers fishing videos even if it’s miles away and I don’t want to fish there! I will show more well known marks however
