  • Norway's most famous road is the intimidating but beautiful Trollstigen, the Trolls Ladder in English. Trollstigen is the ending point of the 106km long National Route from Geiranger. This road is more dramatic than most are used to and it takes you through some of Norway's most beautiful sceneries.
Since 1936 there has been no serious accidents in Trollstigen. Despite the impression of dangerours roads, Norway's roads are now the safest in the world measured as fatal accidents per 1 million people.
More so considering it was built at a time when modern technology was not there and it must be sheer hard work. It’s one of Norway's most dramatic and most visited attractions, featuring dangerous conditions such as inclines, narrow driving space, and poor traction and visibility in rain and fog. It's one of the famous scenic drives in Norway, known for its 11 hair-raising hairpin turns and a steep 10% gradient.
