- Tony Finau’s Secret weapon could be the missing link to unlocking your putting potential.
The new PING putter collection is here and we got our hands on the new PING Anser 2D that has seen some great success on the PGA and DP World tours.
This year, Tony Finau and Ryan Fox have had fantastic wins and brilliant performances, so we were intrigued to see just how good it was. We put it to the test alongside the superb new face balanced Mundy design which is another one of the options from the ten options that Ping have to offer in this all-new collection.
Made popular by multiple-time winner Tony Finau, the PING Anser 2D features a PEBAX insert with shallow milled surround ensures a softer feel and consistent ball speed with pleasing acoustics. Tungsten toe-heel weights provide stability and forgiveness, a single white alignment line contrasts with the matte black head, and a ball-width cavity floor help frame the ball to make aligning to the target easier.
The Mundy offers more forgiveness by joining a lighter aluminium body to a 304 stainless steel sole plate for positioning the center of gravity low/back. It to features a PEBAX insert with a smooth milled surround delivers a softer feel and consistent ball speed with pleasing acoustics. The three full- length, ball-width alignment lines draw the eye to the point of contact with the ball, simplifying aiming.

Picked the Anser 2D from the line about a month ago. To me, this is the best putter I've owned in a long time. Absolutely love it. The whole blacked out look really suits my eye.
One of the most underrated putters out there. I've had my share of putters scotties, odyssey's taylormades, But the Anser 2D is here to stay, played my best round ever with it this year a level par 70.
I just got fitted into the new Anser 2D and it was a mind blowing experience for me. He gave me a Mizuno, Scotty, Cleveland, TM and 2 Pings, but the Anser 2D was miles beyond the others; I don’t think I missed with it once during the fitting, it was just screaming at me

I just bought the 2D at the shop yesterday, after trying just about every putter they had in there that suited my eye. Took it straight out to the course and was very consistent with it. I like the all black look. No parts of the putter interfere with the face/putter framing.
I didn’t even realize that Fenau uses this putter.
To me it’s the simplicity that I like. So many putters today are so busy looking. This one isn’t. I didn’t add a different grip or anything. Right after I picked it up off the rack and used it a few times, I knew it was the right one.
*Just got an ANSER about a month ago & felt the same....Dangerous! After making 9/10 putts, I HAD to have it. Great putter*
Truly love me a blade putter. Debating about this style or the new fang shape from them. All personal I suppose.
How does the 2D compare with anser PLD have you tried both, PLD worth the extra £?
I had a PLD anser and swapped it for the 2D. 2D actually feels better!

Bought the 2D at the golf fair yesterday. Took it out today for 4 holes. 5 putts. It’s deadly. Is your version the adjustable grip one? Mine is. I set it to 33 inches and love it. My old putter was 35 inches and I was always choking down on it.
P.S. I also tried the PLD with milled face. Really nice. I couldn’t miss with either. But it was 36 inches (the one they had) and not adjustable so went with the 2D.
Work on that putting stroke please. One foot backswing with a 4 foot follow thru ain’t good
