That is true. There is definitely something to be said about longevity and durability of every day clothing products. Maybe I will thinking about ordering one in the near future. We shall see.
@icychap These can be used as a "last chance" repelling, tether, or recovery harness. There is another video on YT of a guy repelling using the blackhawk version of just this belt. Not something you would use every day, but they could save your life in situations where nothing else is available.
The safety lanyard we use looks like this: g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1Mv4hIXXXXXbsXXXXq6xXFXXXt/Breakaway-Safety-Lanyard-Strap-Rope-Quick-Release-Buckle-Safety-Rope-Helicopter-Insurance-Rope-Army-Green.jpg_350x350.jpg with a carabiner on the loop end. I have no idea what I was talking about when I said we use the triangle link for equipment on jumps, there are equipment rings on the harness that your ruck is attached to.
I could pay $40 for a leather belt though.. I have one like this that I've had for like 5 years now? they last a long time is all I'm saying .. longer than leather for me
I have always wanted those type of belts, but there is no way I'm paying $45 for a belt. I do like that they are made in the USA though. All those types of belts are too expensive for me. I bought 4 of the trouser duty belts from Galls off clearance. They were only $2 each. They are just the kind with velcro though...no metal anything on it.
@GearBuyersGuide Nevermind to my previous question. I just ordered both the better bdu belt, and the riggers belt in BLUE. They have them on clearance right now. $23 for the Rigger and $10 for the better bdu. Can't beat that deal...just have to get blue. No biggie for me.
My dad was an SOG pilot in vietnam and he said that he asked for one of these to carry his pistol and mag pouches, as well as anything else he might need. Most importantly he said that when he crashed and needed a quick extract (due to the covert nature of his operations he needed a "quick no BS extract") another helicopter in his team would drop a line with a climbing carabiner, he said he clipped it to his rigger belt and he was pulled out to safety, then winched up into the helicopter.
My buddy got out of the Army and gave me his. I love this belt for CCW, I usually use a Crossbreed belt but this does the trick almost as nicely. I can't say enough good things about Spec Ops. Made in the USA is a huge plus for me to buy from them and this thing is built like a tank!

Looked it up - the carabiner loop is so they can be lifted without a harness in an emergency.
I like to hang my keys off the ring with a carabiner o.o
@ icychap
Good question.. when I hear "riggers" I think the guys who pack parachutes.. so perhaps it's something they needed / used.. not sure though
I thought they said "niggers"
FYI, we use the triangle link to secure our safety lanyard when in a helicopter and for our equipment when jumping combat loads.
+Kylie Virgo Kylie can you point out the lanyard that is issued? A web link. Thanks.

@smttysmth02gt
Cool, we like these, they are holding up well
Wanna sell me a couple?
@GearBuyersGuide Hey man do they charge shipping? I see on their site it just has a paypal button to use.

Does it jingle alot when wearing it?
@gordogreen
Thanks for the info, sounds like a valid reason for the name to me

I bought a whole box of these for 10 dollars at a gun store that didnt sell any at a gun show. I love when you find great deals.

What is a rigger's belt for, anyway? Is that for clipping carabiners?
You can use it as a rappelling harness.
@InsertGun depends... usually came in withts 1.5-2 inches, the width of the particular model shouldnt be hard to find with Google.
I have used their old belts in the military and love it. The new ones are cheap, thinner and have way too much flex. Do not buy
got mine today in AF blue, perfect for the uniform, tough as hell, WAY better than the crappy SI belts

@InsertGun I have one that is 2" wide, and it fits all my pants belt loops. I believe they also come in 1 3/4" also.
InsertGun bit late, it will, but it'll be a bit hard to get on/take off
Will this fit a regular pair of pants belt loop?
no, I just bought one. It's really nice.
I receive mine on Monday
