  • The Food Lab is one of the most important cookbooks in my collection and I encourage any home chef to read it. It's got great recipes, instructions, and explanations for all things cooking. I gave this book as a recommendation in my "Top 5 Cookbooks for Beginners" video and I go more in depth on why I like this book in the video. Enjoy!
Also sorry for the so-so quality on the video. I'm going for a new presentation style and I messed up on the filming.
If you have any cookbooks you'd like me to cover, feel free to comment below! Thanks and happy cooking!

I got the online version of Food Lab just recently and its been a great read so far. But actual books are just wayyy prettier, so your video might've convinced me to buy one in yhe future!! Really love the cookbook reviews esp for someone who's just starting out my own collection. Looking forward to more videos!

It's such a heavy book, a digital copy is a great option. I just prefer physical books, its easier for me to flip around and write notes, but since this book is a huge pain to pull off the shelf, a digital copy works well.

I saw this originally on target website. My bestie is very much a gourmet cook and loves it. Super precise! I was like she would love this. I’m glad the review is good! Thanks

Great review. This book has been on my wishlist for a bit. I wonder suggest Jacques Pépin New Complete Techniques for a book on interesting cooking techniques. Thank you!

Have you ever gotten Samin nosrat Salt,Fat,Acid and Heat her book is amazing the 4 elements you use In cooking, I always refer to her book when I'm making something sometimes the food lab book is to heavy and I'm too lazy to pull it out from my cookbook shelf.

Yeah, I included it in my "Top 5 Cookbooks for Beginners" video. I think its a great book for people who have 0 to little skills in home cooking. Its much easier to start off with that book, but I think I prefer the Food Lab because Kenji goes so deep into everything. I do plan on making a video of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat in the future.
I totally agree on the weight of The Food Lab, it can be a pain to pull it out and go through it. Thats why I usually just search up the recipe online and read it off of Serious Eats.

Have you ever done any Infusion Cookbook reviews?
Can you do a review on either Snoop Dogg's Infusion Cookbook or Pass The Greens: A Cannabis Infused Soul Food Cookbook?

Thanks for this! Your review was helpful. But it would have been nice if you have mentioned from the beginning that the book is for beginner cooks.

Good point! I think for my future videos I’ll mention that in the beginning of every book to help new cook or people looking for a more advanced book

@@cookbookreviews9848 I'm thinking about buying this for my dad for xmas. He's not a pro cook, but takes food semi seriously so definitely not a beginner. He's a teacher so all the Science parts i think he'd find interesting useful. So is there a lot of that? and would u recommend it for a +50yr old man?😄 Ps. I've watched a lot of Kenji's UA-cam so if the book's anything like that, with info about molecules etc, that's what I'm looking for!!!

@@donitsi6095 There’s not too much on molecular gastronomy but he does apply basic scientific data and techniques in order to reach conclusions. I think this would a great book for your dad and he will especially appreciate the scientific method Kenji applies!

Depends what you mean with good.
      Michelin star cooking? Probably ages.
Good home cooking? Not that long since you can shine with a few amazing recipes.
It's important to get the basics down though. And for the love of God don't poison your loved ones with raw meat.
