This was a lovely review presentation of one of my favorite books, and favourite couple, I love Dexter and Emma it broke my heart how Emma ended, I agree the book is better but so to me is Netflix version
It's so interesting this issue with specific accents. I couldn't tell you which was which from England, but I would know in the US.
I'm getting better at US accents, I can get the obvious one (I hope!) I love love love accents, I studied them at uni!

I loved First Last Kiss by Ali Harris. It is VERY similar!

The accent is irrelevant to international viewers. Without a big named actor it may not have attracted the audience it did as a film so I think AH was a great choice. This book is so cleverly disguised as a growing friendship story. To not address this aspect of the book in any review is disappointing.
I'll be watching the Netflix series, having re-read the book very soon!
