Looks much better than the last iteration one year ago. I like the fact of the bonus-perks for crew with multiple rolls, releasing lots of pressure on players. What I take with "a grain of salt" is the new perks, some of them look powerful and sure there will be some specialist out there to find the very strong combination of perks for certain tanks.

these skills will be dangerous for triple platoons. For example 3 279es are gonna run that 7,5% crew buff upon taking damage, 2,5% reload bonus in close quarters, 2,5% crew bonus from radio operator skill which has a condition for you to be within 50m of your ally of the same vehicle type. I might've missed another bonus or 2 but you already get the point.
track a tank and have your platoon deal dmg to get the 2.5% for dmg assisted above hp pool perk. Would be terrible with the lower tiers with derp guns and low hp pools.
Not giving the best examples with the most broken tanks that need serious nerfing. With or without the new crew system triple platoon os 279 or 176 is still nasty

When accelerate crew training/mentor perk were your only options for extra crew xp (aside from xp conversion with that egregious exchange rate). I remember getting my first 3 skill crew that had BIA, repairs, and 1 specialization skill on each member. I felt like my kv-2 was hot shit lol.
You do know that maps are made by an entirely different team than the team working on crew changes right? And that there are a ton of map changes coming?
Most players who have worked so hard to train 3-5 skills for so long was completely happy the way it was. They will fix it like they did the Clan Reserves we used to get to use but don't now thanks to the fix
So all we acutally get is 3 crew skills. Because BIA os a must then camo or repairs is must. So just leaves 3 or 4 skillz and with the exponential increases with exp for new skill. Gonna force you to pick same ones again.
Dez, the free reset is stated in the video as free during testing and "some time after". This could be a day, or months.. its typical vagueness so they can mess around all they want. EDIT: Notice on the screen with the new buttons to Reset Perks or fill empty ones there is a 30d timer?
its not a bad ideal, on most tanks every skill after 6th is useless, at least now you are getting exp which can be used on other crews, which dont have many skills
Great they adding new perks but they gonna give max 6 cap so we cant really use them and every crew member we have that has more than 6 is getting cut so every strong medium tank crew i had will now be significantly worse thx wg but i dont want that honestly
2 thoughts actually: 1) Are these % bonuses fixed (2.5% or 7.5%) or will they increase with other crew boosting thing like food, vents and BIA like happens with skill currently? In which case 7.5% bonus when you take damage is just a base number, and the real number could be boosted to around 10%? Also would 10% shell velocity be fixed or go up to say, 13.74% with crew boosting things? 2) Does the emergency skill mean when an arty splashes near you for barely any damage you get a big 15s crew buff? If I'm reading that right and your medkit is off cooldown you instantly remove the stun and the arty basically just buffed you for 15s. You can reduce the medkit cooldown as well with practicality. Are we going into a weird timeline where you actually... want arty to hit you? Because every arty hit or splash gives you a crew buff?
The new system will be so good for those crews with multi roles. That Manticore is a great example as with the new system you will get a total of 12 perks by reaching the XP for 6 perks as those bonus perks are trained alongside. It's a massive buff for those tanks.
+-1 tier is the best solution for these too many light tanks and artillery battles, same time will make the game more interesting... Sadly wargaming will never change that
This is bad idea... Lets get a short comparison: 6 skill td sniper like grille radio with new skills vs 3 skills like strv.... Definitely grille has advantage as new skills provide faster spotted sound, 1s less spotted... If anyone plays them as complete sniper they might not take repairs... Think about that... 1 extra skill than strv and new radio skills r quite good.... And I didn't even mention driver or other skills... Just drop repairs or camo and u get extra skill... U can get camo or repairs on other crew and get partially of it and get benefit of 1 other crew skill...

i have around 200 vehicles. if i spend just 5 minutes per vehicle carefully selecting the new skills for each crew member i'm looking at nearly 17 hours work. just to play a game that i play to relax. a game that looks like it's dying. the recently increased monetization rate and closing the player forums are not good signs of the game's longevity. it's as if they're trying to milk the players hard for cash before it dies completely, rendering the crew skills system irrelevant.
I expect ammo tuning to be useless. IIRC WoT uses a typical normal distribution spread for damage, but with a hard cap at +/-25%. All rolls outside of this range are just assigned the min or max roll, resulting in a funny distribution with two little peaks at the end of the spectrum. That's why shooting with a 400 dmg gun you are far more likely to see a 300 hit than 301. What does it mean for this perk? It can be interpreted as either squishing whole table up (resulting in same shape of curve, but with bottom end 2% higher and the average 1% higher) or... just truncation 2% higher with same expected value, resulting in a negligible average damage increase. I expect the second option being what's going to be implemented, rendering this perk practically useless.
Wondering how the crew training will work in premium tanks. Will you still be able to train secondary qualification perks in premiums? And if so, what happens if you say, take a 4 person crew where the loader is the radio operator and put them in a premium where the commander is the radio operator? Will you then be able to train radio operator perks on both the commander and the loader? Or is the premium tank just never gonna be able to get radio operator perks if you don't have an exact one to one crew to put into it? That's the problem with a lot of premiums. Their nations often don't contain a tech tree tank crew with the same qualifications layout. Or at least not a crew that you'd actually want to train. Like why would you buy a tier 8 and drop a tier 4 crew into it? Unless you're a seal clubber of course.

They gave us their reasoning, but this is usual bullshit - Bring back meaningful choice - there is no choice, there are useful skills and crap, and if you really mess up, there's retraining. Bridge the skill gap - how exactly? Veterans wil still have their 6-skill crews and noobs have zero. Balance the scales - ok, this is really a fat bonus to multi-role crewmembers, but this contradicts to the point 1 and 2. And making Firefighting a Radioman's skill is a bad idea. If he gets shot, there's noone to put out the fire.

I am not sure if it is bad, but I am losing patience with WG. I don't too many changes in the game. It is way better to have a slower rate of change so that people can adapt to those changes.
With NA losing players this is not what we need. The new tour of duty ruined casual clans, Onslaught is a mess, we need to see new maps and tank rebalancing.
what ever happens WG will work out a way to sCrew us over... Bet you refund xp books will be linked to same country... So my STB crew will be nerfed and i'll have heaps of XP for that other Japanese tank I don't have.... So options will be leave the books unused or Grind out a tank line i'm not interested in and spend xp/credits. Im guessing WG hope i spend gold on free XP and buy those credits.... and i bet you WG math will be different and the crew skills you put on the tank by grinding/crew books would be way more than any refund you get.
I like the new perks/skills and the improvements to existing ones, they seem far more impactful than a lot of the current ones (currently signal boosting is completely pointless for example). As for limiting it to 6 perks per crew member I’m not really sure. On one hand I get what they want, they want your choice of perks to be meaningful rather than just training all of them. But on the other there are so many perks that are mandatory for certain tanks you don’t really get much of a choice. Every tank needs BIA and Repair so that 2/6 slots gone. For Lights, mediums and TDs camo is mandatory so that’s 3/6 slots already used for every LT/MT/TD. View range is very important for every tank so that 4/6 commander and Radio operator slots used (for LT/MT/TD). That leaves only 2 choices for your Commander and Radio operator. Let’s look at a 5 person crew (medium); Commander: BIA, Repair, Camo, Recon Gunner: BIA, Repair, Camo, Snap Shot Driver: BIA, Repair, Camo, Smooth Ride, Loader: BIA, Repair, Camo, Intuition, Radio: BIA, Repair, Camo, Situational Awareness So WG wanted your perk choices to be “meaningful” but you really only have a choice of 2 perks per crew member because 4 of them are mandatory.
When is the change coming that we can use one crew on 3 tech tree tanks of the same nation and class? That was teased last year or so and never heard of again. Would be a better change not to have to train crews now that are useless afterwards
I also see recon they claim to be improved is actually less, my commander Leonardo has 2.1 percent range if damged, will increase up to 21 percent, thats 1 percent loss on both numbers.....

it's not "the same crap" AT ALL. The max cap to skill change everything. I'd say they could also push even more, think about having max 4 or 5 skill, or having to choose between 12+skill instead of 9. The more you have to "leave behind" the more variety you create (assuming the skill are at least half decent) Plus, with this new system small crew (like manti) are actually MORE powerful compared to big ones. Now manti commander will have 4 skill with just 2 trained (the major ones), and you can arrive to a total of 12. that's way more than now for pretty much anybody
It is ok, you have infinite times skill reset grace period, and we get more tank build possibilities. And it reduces the difference between people who spend/play a lot and casual players. What's not to like?

This needs to stop. I have crew members that have 7 or more skills. And they are going to give me a crew book for anything over 6 skills? Horse crap. Firefighting will be relegated to radio operators only? No one asked for this. No one wants this. Instead of spending programming resource time on fixing things that aren't broken, how about fixing matchmaker, that pits completely unskilled people against extremely skilled people?
Everyone wants this, except the minority of players who have crews with 7+ skills. I have 15k games and zero such crews, iirc.

I am not sure if it is bad, but I am losing patience with WG. I don't too many changes in the game. It is way better to have a slower rate of change so that people can adapt to those changes.

With NA losing players this is not what we need.
The new tour of duty ruined casual clans, Onslaught is a mess, we need to see new maps and tank rebalancing.
what ever happens WG will work out a way to sCrew us over... Bet you refund xp books will be linked to same country... So my STB crew will be nerfed and i'll have heaps of XP for that other Japanese tank I don't have.... So options will be leave the books unused or Grind out a tank line i'm not interested in and spend xp/credits. Im guessing WG hope i spend gold on free XP and buy those credits.... and i bet you WG math will be different and the crew skills you put on the tank by grinding/crew books would be way more than any refund you get.

I like the new perks/skills and the improvements to existing ones, they seem far more impactful than a lot of the current ones (currently signal boosting is completely pointless for example).
As for limiting it to 6 perks per crew member I’m not really sure.
On one hand I get what they want, they want your choice of perks to be meaningful rather than just training all of them.
But on the other there are so many perks that are mandatory for certain tanks you don’t really get much of a choice.
Every tank needs BIA and Repair so that 2/6 slots gone.
For Lights, mediums and TDs camo is mandatory so that’s 3/6 slots already used for every LT/MT/TD.
View range is very important for every tank so that 4/6 commander and Radio operator slots used (for LT/MT/TD).
That leaves only 2 choices for your Commander and Radio operator.
Let’s look at a 5 person crew (medium);
Commander: BIA, Repair, Camo, Recon
Gunner: BIA, Repair, Camo, Snap Shot
Driver: BIA, Repair, Camo, Smooth Ride,
Loader: BIA, Repair, Camo, Intuition,
Radio: BIA, Repair, Camo, Situational Awareness
So WG wanted your perk choices to be “meaningful” but you really only have a choice of 2 perks per crew member because 4 of them are mandatory.

The ppl on reddit were right . They introduced them some time back and there was outrage , "they listened to us" then reintroduce the same crap after some time and act like all it's ok
it's not "the same crap" AT ALL. The max cap to skill change everything. I'd say they could also push even more, think about having max 4 or 5 skill, or having to choose between 12+skill instead of 9. The more you have to "leave behind" the more variety you create (assuming the skill are at least half decent)
Plus, with this new system small crew (like manti) are actually MORE powerful compared to big ones. Now manti commander will have 4 skill with just 2 trained (the major ones), and you can arrive to a total of 12. that's way more than now for pretty much anybody
It is ok, you have infinite times skill reset grace period, and we get more tank build possibilities. And it reduces the difference between people who spend/play a lot and casual players. What's not to like?
