    Rainbow Six 3 was great. I wish they would do a game like this again - Singleplayer with AI Teammates.. It was so cool and I really miss it

      Yeeeeah... not really.
      I finished this game not long ago and although the gameplay is great, the game has some issues on newer machines, the default controls are weird at first and it has a resolution that keeps changing on the menus.
      I really wouldn't mind a remaster done for RS3 and SWAT 4. They're good games of a kind.

      I'm really wanting Ubisoft to bring this franchise all the way back to it's roots. With all of the latest system specs of today, they could make the ultimate tactical planning shooter, but sadly it will never happen since ubi would rather focus on yet more console shooters to appeal to the post 2000's millenials

      It aged well? Lol 😂 those view models animations look clunky as, I definitely don’t think this aged as well as your giving it credit for. But I’m sure was a gem of its time no doubt it that as RB6 defined a genre.

      I wish it had some revolver options. Maybe a s&w 686 and a colt anaconda. Aside from that I love the variety and the way you had to change your play style to adapt to the weapon

      I actually pitched in with a buddy of mine to go buy this.. we went to Canada on a school field trip where we would be far enough away from our parents that we could pull it off because it was m rated.. then we kind of split custody until I officially bought it from him.. I kind of I kind of feel bad though I kind of hogged it in retrospect I did not respect the mutual pact like I should have..
      Man I went through some interesting shenanigans to get video games back then LOL.. mostly just coming up with money for things LOL.. like I remember I paid an extra $20 for Max Payne 2, on account that I didn't have enough money and I had to borrow it.. and to make it worth it I paid like $20 in interest to borrow about five bucks.. totally worth it like genuinely totally worth it.. not to mention as a side bonus I had the best credit in high school cuz I actually paid people back.
      This game became part of my routine basically because of the Counter-Strike style single life multiplayer.. I would basically be playing this all night, every time I would die I would start doing my homework.. and then I could have a limited use excuse if I got caught by my parents at 2:00 in the morning cuz I'm doing homework what am I going to do!
      Fortunately I was good enough at it having had that as part of my routine for so long, I could always hear when there was motion across the hallway and probably I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I actually got caught.. the first part was getting a hold of my Dad's laptop from his work bag.. cuz he was given a God tier laptop for his work.. 512 megs of ram in the year 2000, with a 16 MB dedicated video card LOL in a laptop.. and the thing is is that it had to be back in the backpack like nothing had happened in most cases.. before he got up at like 5:00 in the morning..
      Those are good times.. at least I think they were.. was never allowed to play video games for the most part but eventually it just started happening thanks to the power of computer technology which thankfully the world required in some capacity or another for other things than video games.. cuz back then you could get graphing calculating software on the internet before Texas instruments basically removed every aspect of it anywhere to try to sell you that ta-83 for the next decade LOL.. that and video games and... Well never mind..

    Back when developers had to make an effort to actually sell their product. Youngsters these days eat up whatever shit's served to them, as long as it has multiplayer. Tough when you're brought up and taught to never criticise.

      they still do champ. there are still hardcore FPS's being made today. I grew up with Rogue Spear and then Raven Shield, but I also can accept things change. quit being a stereotypical bitter old man about shit

    The challenge was to finish every map with only 1 weapon and of every one.
    Also loved the detail with the belt fed weapons. When I play other games I always compare it to this game... " says I have 4 rounds left, so I should see 2 or 3 more rounds and nothing else."

      @@atomgrav6861 Actually Desert Eagle is not really used by any Spec Ops team, it is too bulky, heavy and low ammo capacity. I tend to think that it is in a lot of military shooters because it is a unique and powerful handgun. They just add it as gun p0rn.

    This really was the golden age of gaming.

      It also features the Valmet M82. A rare Bullpup rifle that afaik only Ghost Recon Breakpoint has it. Which is another Ubisoft game. I guess someone at Ubisoft loves the Valmet.

    IMI Desert Eagle was used ONLY by Polish GROM spec ops in real life, yet Rainbow Six is the international, it also includes Polish Special Forces units.
    "AP Army", a game's designation of FN Five-Seven pistol has a single-action hammer instead of hammerless nature.

      Back then the 5.7 had both a single action and a double action variant.. the single action variant was called the 57 tactical according to the Wikipedia LOL.. this is at least functionally single action.. there have been more than a few variants of the gun over the years.. if I recall they actually more recently did an update for the weapon as in the last decade of recently.. on account of people not really caring for it... I know that they started pushing it right now as people are trying to make 5.7 the thing again now that body armor is a hot topic... But I think they did an update a while back not just just now so maybe they added it to strike or fired since that's what all the kids are using.. well except for the kids that still have a single action Colt for competition LOL...
      I can't stand striker fired weapons.. I know I shouldn't care it's just something about it that feels weird like this this has too many parts that aren't necessary for the thing it's trying to do..

    FAL is the best assaulty rifle.
    Dragunov best sniper rifle.
    Best accuracy, stability & recovery.
    Damage means jack shit. It's always 1 or 2 hits to kill a terror.

      That's so not true in the multiplayer LOL.. subs were usually pointless because people would wear body armor.. terrorist could wear body armor too.. but like that's the single player and you had a lot more options in the single player for the various situations obviously.. I mean mostly just using that mp5sd5 as your workhorse.. bring it up fast and it's stable..
      Multiplayer that's very different ball game though.. most of the time if you had a sub you would basically just lose the gunfight nine times out of 10 because it's whoever gets you first right.. and the accuracy variabilities are crazy in motion because of the type of simulation they were trying for.. if you're walking in this game your crosshair is at the bloom of most games maximum.. if you're running it's even wider and if you're shooting while you're running it's even wider than that and takes longer to recover..
      And at that point you're talking about bullets down range and you need the one bullet to make it work.. it was not uncommon to see people with those dumb little c-mags do the little crouch dance in circles trying to hit each other at point blank range.. just one of those you can't make everything perfect kind of factors that I think had more to do with unreal than anything else.. cuz it was never a problem in ghost recon for some reason even though that had even more unforgiving bloom.
      it became more about if you have a gun that has a pattern that you can control and predict for the kind of gameplay that you're doing.. but rounds down range was one of the big ones.. so things like the m4 the famas the l85 and the tar21 we're kind of your best option for most cases in the multiplayer.. and I put the m4 in the tar 21 as my primaries or basically my alternates of not doing what everybody else was doing.. but thinking about it I kind of was cuz they kind of function similarly in the game...
      Usually you could see a bitch coming 500 miles away if they had an l85 and a c-mag because the l85 had a built in scope so you could get the scope and the c-mag and be a total pussy.. and then the famas thing was just because it was good LOL I'm in the l85 was good in this too cuz you know paper stats not real stats.. but I think the famas is the only weapon in this game that actually holds up in real life as surprisingly well as it did in this game.. and that still blows my mind cuz that is a dumb looking gun that looks awkward as all get out but hey.. apparently it works go figure..

    played competitively back in the day. Meta guns were G36 / AUG with drum mag + suppressor with USP / MK 23 sidearm/ frag nades and heartbeat sensor

    Appreciated the times when the game devs thought about using magazine system. During its time this was one of the very few games that does not encourage reloading excessively.

    So you mentioned the m82 and I went on a thing being like oh wow I remember that that used to be one of my favorites.. and all the while in the background I'm hearing the weapon fire.. I've been working so stupidly hard to get good gunshots sounds in my mods, and I didn't want to go to the Raven shield well because the quality of the recording wouldn't necessarily be the best and whatnot and match everything.. but I was modeling it after that because those sounds are burned into my brain...
    Just listening to this in the background, every single one of those sounds like exactly what I'm trying to get out of what I'm doing.. any of the ones that I've actually been satisfied with.. they sound like the gunshots going on right now.. like I remember it had a really good sound but.. I forgot it was that good maybe because they're just isn't a comparison in the modern age ever since squad decided to neuter it soundscape.
    Like this sounded so stupid good.. this sounds so good.. I was literally coming here for a frame of reference because I've been having trouble with my MP5 sound.. it's a it's a hard one to do because it's very high pitch with a high rate of fire... and I'm sitting here like I have rarely heard a good MP5 sound in a game.. what was the game that had the best MP5 sound hands down.. well it was Raven shield.. and there's just like some subtle presentation to the way that they made it work where it sounds like the gun but it also sounds good...
    And I'm like you know what I bet there's at least somebody that has some old footage.. I certainly wasn't expecting newer footage LOL...
    I also wasn't expecting it to not just match but surpass some of the better audio work in modern games.. like the kind of audio work where they actually try.. granted.. this game has a very good sound system.. but so does source engine so, not too worried about that.. my God how far unreal has fallen in that regard.. with all that middleware like wwise and x audio.. which xaudio should have been at least comparable to the Windows sound core from the XP days.. but.. just on an engine level, modern unreal engine can't seem to manage it sound properly, requiring a lot of loops instead of individual files..
    Granted these use loops as well.. that tragedy of when you're on fully automatic and you fire a single round and it sounds like you just farted if you don't hold the trigger down long enough.. that was truly one of the really cool features of how comprehensive the audio engine in source engine and how it like all their systems are allowed to be utterly variable with the tick rates.. letting you scale however you want for the most part..
    Still this is blowing my mind, like I did not intend to be rambling here but I'm using speech to text and I'm on my phone and this is the sound.. this isn't just a good sound of the thing.. this is exactly the sound that I needed to hear... Something that managed to represent both the actual sound of the weapon.. sound like a gunshot, even though it could use some volume obviously to match real life.. cuz of that 112 DB 116 DB usual limitation in most audio hardware.. oh well... But both to be sounding as Chrisp as it needs to and also having that impact that helps carry over the translation from the power of the weapon into a perceptible form without actually having the physical feeling of it in real life..
    Be curious to see what happened to the audio team, I know they were a special audio team if I recall from the back of the box way back in the day.. be interesting to see if they just went back to doing movies or if they split up or something...
    Clearly they didn't work on any other Ubisoft or Clancy games.. but I can't recall outside of squad initially before they ruined it any game that really had that kind of feel and quality.. insurgency wasn't bad.. and insurgency 2 is the baseline that I've been using, but there's just something off about it.. and I've been sitting there messing with the files and adding and playing around and shortening and.. I think I'm running into that problem where the noise is kind of canceling itself out in terms of its frequencies, so it just kind of loses some of its identity and sounds like noise... These guys really did a good job of solving that problem.
    Even the pistols sound good! Something that I figured at this point is the long since past unicorn of the old days.. along with a view model that actually looks like you're holding the pistol out in front of you instead of right up to your eye trying to inspect the serial number as is the tradition in the modern age..

      The early modern warfare games had such a weird soundscape.. you had a pistol that sounded like a fart.. but then you'd have like a shotgun that actually sounded decent you know.. even in the remaster it was weird.. like you still have this combination of like semi-decent but also clearly blatant obvious fart noise.. thank God they found a good sound designer for the most recent ones.. even if they don't sound realistic they actually sound good and that's by far better than this series had managed to achieve every since they changed their priorities with the second one.
      Yeah it was actually pretty common to use the original call of duty soundscape to add to Doom 3 or Half-Life 2.. they did a really good Thompson in that first game and it was a good stand-in for sci-fi weapons that just sounded like garbage which was starting to become the norm... they used to be all sorts of cool sound files floating around for various different things.. I had always wanted to take apart these sound files but back then I don't think you could open up the files or at least I didn't know how.. now it's all I want to do as soon as I get to a computer.. cuz I in my head I assumed they were more compressed than this given the age of the game..
      These are the best merge between accurate to the weapon, while still sounding good in a video game.. especially that MP5 it's just about perfect.. which is how I ended up here in the first place ranting in these comments and waxing on about both what we've lost and what's amazing here..
      I just couldn't get my MP5 to sound right I could get it to sound accurate I could get it to sound loud.. it just felt wrong for some reason and I can't tell you exactly what it was but.. probably ended up canceling itself out with the frequencies.. clearly this was something that they paid attention to in this game to make sure everything sounded distinct even with unreals inherent audio complications with the tick rate and whatnot.. this is so good LOL like just to have the reference model.. even if I can't clean them up.. and I don't even think I need to.. they just sound better even at the low sample rate.. what's that say about modern games right??

    They got a little lazy with the expansions in this game. The smg at 4:03 doesn't even line up with where the bullets hit

      The default models were crooked. But the maps from the expansions are great! In any case we have all new guns now with actual iron sights and new scopes

    Ian just did a video on the specter submachine gun which is like the sm-4 CQB here.. it's a little bit prettier from the side but.. my goodness is that just about the most unflattering angle of all these weapons probably.. like it's it's still a weird looking gun.. it it gives the concept of stamped parts some sort of uncanny valley... Made all the stranger by its rounded underside and handle.. I don't think I ever seen anyone use that in all my time playing and I had no idea it existed until watching this and then I'm like oh wow I must have skipped that one.. I don't even remember it...
    So naturally after I watch this..     If y'all want to get the true impression of how this game was supposed to look by the way.. you need to fix the fov view model.. if my understanding of unreal is correct.. simply changing the fov should change both the view model and the field of view.. This is that shift between 4x3 to 16x9 where you had a 90 field of view at 4x3 as a standard.. unfortunately people still seem to think that's a standard for 16x9 but in reality it's more like about 107ish(1). I'm not sure how much shenanigans for unreal 2 you have to go through in order to fix this.. I know there's at the base level a simple command to fix it.. go into more detail below along with my ranting.. but some unreal versions require you to mess with other variables in order to unlock it.. and in some cases you have to use a separate command but if I recall for unreal 2.. and certainly for unreal one cuz I've already tested this.. there is a singular command that will change both the view model and the fov within step with each other..
    only reason I'm a little hesitant is because it's so uncommon to see in the modern age in these retrospectives.. for every demon spawn that crawled forth from the immaterium in an old folks home from the basic cable 4x3 with a 16x9 crop window that is stretched to 16x9s making it something like closer to 235.. and just thinks that things that are squishy is a feature as opposed to things with black bars.. there are at the very least a significant amount of people that go out of their way to fix it... Like this person who uploaded this fine video.
    But.. that's part one.. there's a couple of extra steps, and you may not even notice how it looks or that there's anything wrong other than the tight fov that feels a little nauseating maybe but not outside the norm..
    Except for if you played it back in the day on a 4x3 monitor and had those images burned into your brain over hours and hours and hours and maybe even a solid year of block time.. at this point.. since with the exception of source engine from the old days before they basically kind of ruined that part of it for some reason.. I just assumed that most games are going to crop in instead of out.. there are exceptions but they are rare.. fortunately it's usually an easy fix.. but the giant block of text that has already preceded and follows is a rant inspired by how ambiguous that can be sometimes and how stupid it is and how we got to where we are with modern games...
    and for me also I just pay attention to that a lot because it was one of the first modding things I learned how to do on my own.. on account of Half-Life 2 having garbage view models by comparison to its predecessor that felt so weird.. when I finally learned that with widescreen you got to see more on the sides.. which meant the pistol was closer to the center.. I immediately went to go check that out.. and then I found out that you could just change the viewmodel and fix it yourself LOL.. although widescreen is still awesome, and I would run it cropped ever since in any game that I could.. for that fact alone that you could see more on the sides..
    I always found it interesting with games like Half-Life that had a near perfect view model for the time.. in Half-Life source, they made the transition because they were pushing widescreen as a concept at the time.. but since they decided to mysteriously and impressively break that version of the game over the years.. no one uses it, they go to the default which uses quake parameters LOL.. and you know I guess updating that on steam that platform they owned would be too much.. so most people are running around with half of the gorgeous view model and animation cropped off..
    I always thought this was stupid.. I think the thought came out of the people that would set their fov to like 150 or some fisheye shenanigans like that with quake for a multiplayer advantage.. but it's like.. how does locking the access so that you have to crop in a 3D game LOL the benefit of 3D being that you can do things like change aspect ratio LOL.. and even in the modern age, especially with console ports you have to do all sorts of shenanigans sometimes with unreal engine.. I think the worst offender that I've seen was Bioshock where you needed an actual injector in order to change the fov so that it didn't look like you were about to put your eye out with your own gun when you shot it.
    I know there are separate commands for both, and usually you have access to the field of view command through the console or through a ini file.. and not the view model command.. but you do have a command that will do both, and then and then one that doesn't..
    I can't remember what they are but they are pretty simple and as long as nothing is locked off you should be able to implement them just with the developers console, and then permanently drop it into the ini or something...
    don't know if this will get you flagged in multiplayer still.. it might be some sort of violation on the pure server that is probably ticked.. but most people run mods anyways nowadays for my understand..
    I still can't believe people still play this that makes me so happy LOL.. unfortunately there's a lot of the view model that's cut off because of the unreal engine defaults.. most engines seem to default like this unfortunately.. deciding that when you change the aspect ratio instead of letting you see more from side to side like you should with widescreen.. it ends up basically kind of zooming in and cropping..
    Funny thing is valve used to promote they automated the aspect ratio concept with source engine and it's widescreen support that was unparalleled.. and they would show it off on HDTVs as look you can see more on the side.. fast forward 15 years and they have it locked in the engine and just recently upgraded 90 to 100 for the lock.. and this isn't Half-Life too not in Counter-Strike or anything this is the single player LOL.. how times have changed right.. they're even used to be view model commands you could type in just for that alone, being able to place it around the screen.. that's been locked as well, they basically removed the commands from the basic console for some reason.
    Depending on the engine you can usually manipulate just the fov and it will change the view model as well.. sometimes they're separate commands like with source engine and quake engine and anything under the school of carmack for the most part.. which used to be a feature because you used to be able to just manipulate the view model in the console six ways till Sunday.. but modern id tech doesn't really believe in those sort of user customizations.. but fortunately most of their engines have been unlocked for various purposes.. but the fact that you have to do it at an engine level to get console commands that are basic is ridiculous..

      It's definitely the best sounding gun I think in this entire lot.. like they nailed that MP5 sound to a point where I don't think any other video game is managed IT.. and most managed to make a terrible sound from the MP5.. it's like a stupidly difficult sound to get to work in a video game for some reason and be semi-accurate.. it's actually why I'm here in the first place cuz I was like you know what the only one that I've heard in video games that sounded good was from r63..
      And my God does it sound good it does it sounds perfect LOL.. I just I needed that because I was going insane trying to get mine to work.. I could get it to work in an individual but I just couldn't get it to blend together right there's just a bunch of things wrong about it in the subtleties...
      And then the MP10 comes along and just like I can do that... And single-handedly cream every panty in the room...

    I will say this for all the things that they got right.. the 93r feels off.. kind of wondering what the idea behind that was.. it seems like they didn't really make a lot of game balancing decisions over the realism factor.. cuz it didn't really matter anybody could use anything they wanted and that was the whole point.. I wonder if that was an engine limitation.. maybe I'm just hearing it wrong..

      I am totally wrong I will delete this when I get to a computer.. I just did a sanity check.. the sound isn't even bad either.. apparently it has a different gas system or at least a modified gas system in an attempt to control the recoil.. making it sound quieter more or less.. good gracious these guys are good.. how does this kind of talent just disappear from the landscape and and only show up in random niche cases when like there's so much here that is so well done.

      USP in this game was 40 caliber, only 45 that I remember worth anything was the mk23 and it was wonderful.. but I do feel you considering how many pointless guns they had in this stack, you think they would have added a tried and true like the classic colt... I think this might have been before they turned into race guns though.. I guarantee you that if they had made it today somehow in a weird magical universe where the quality and standards and way that games were made ended up making the same game.. they would have definitely had some sort of Gucci single action colt...
      it's funny how times have changed especially in regards to gun culture over the last 20 years.. God bless the internet right?

    I remember the Xbox version allowed you to control your companions with voice commands through the headset, it felt cool just Saying "breach and clear" and watching them blow a door open to shoot everyone in sight...

    I will say this though as all the praise and it's totally deserved for the base game.. when you start to get into the expansion packs and the newer weapons.. you can see a stark quality or certainly design philosophy deviation.. just look at the shotgun between the m1 and the M4... Or the usas 12 and the jackhammer LOL which I can't believe they added that I didn't even remember that LOL cuz no one would play multiplayer with the expansions going on any sort of long-term with much regularity.. but yeah jackhammer sounds like wet fart USS 12 sounds like a shotgun.. m4 sounds like a wet fart.. m1 one sounds like a shotgun... It's almost like two different audio teams worked on it.. cuz probably two different audio teams worked on it..
    And one of them was not the gods gift to sound that I have praised in my rantings on this comments section.. they weren't terrible but they sure weren't the people that worked who did the base game that honestly just hearing it now is kind of unparalleled.. but it's also kind of surprising.. like they knew what kind of work they were up against and whatnot and then it was going to have to go to toe with that? Like.. why didn't you just duplicate the sounds from the other guns? It would have been fine LOL and no one knows where the jackhammer sounds like cuz no one's ever actually shot one outside of the trials.. you could have just taken the USA as 12 sound.. instead of farting into one microphone and calling it a day...
    I think what kills me is I bet.. I bet that team got work after this game.. because I've heard that kind of sound work before.. but I haven't heard anything close to as good as the original outside of that original squad release before they ruined the entire sound design in an overhaul for some reason...

    So what weapon have you guys used most? Or had the best success with?
    I played the shit out of this game multiplayer when it came out.
    Had my best results with L85 Assault rifle + high capacity mag since it already comes with scope. It has very little recoil for an assault rifle. Great beginner gun. Once I got much better I switched to Famas + scope because of its rapid fire.
    From my experience, the best players I seen usually used either Famas or G36 or M4. I prefered L85 over G36 personally. Never got the hang of G36 or M4. But famas without a doubt is a killer weapon in this game. All the other assault rifles have too much recoil in auto. AUG was alright too. The submachine guns were too weak. The machine guns had massive recoil. Snipers were ineffective in this game as maps werent big enough. Shotguns useless in multiplayer.
    For pistol I liked Mac11 or MK-23
    And for accessories usually frags and a heartbeat sensor.
    One of the greatest multiplayer games ever made! :) straight up

      I always looked at famas players as tryhards.. usually they would be the first to try to cram their way to the frag train opening every match after the first few years of the game had passed..
      My setup was usually the mk23, because Clancy obviously... Also it was the best pistol... With either a tar 21, or an m4 with a suppressor.. I can't remember if I used the tar with a suppressor but I don't think I did strangely enough considering how much I used it for the m4..
      I started to get really into single fire and my last few months before I moved on to other things.. and my goal was to get the tar 21 in single fire to function as effective as it would be able to function in single fire in America's army.. obviously this game's variables and compensations in order to simulate the realism we're not as conducive to things like single fire LOL especially in the close quarter multiplayer... But I did all right cuz I was way younger back then.. then I hadn't broke my back yet LOL.
      But yeah m4 with suppressor was probably my go-to beyond the tar 21.. and occasionally I would roll with the MP5.. as in real life LOL the m4 kind of made the MP5 a little bit redundant.. it was the closest fully automatic stable weapon.. I think I went with the tar if I needed to do an ACOG more than anything.. I didn't really like the way the m4 and the ACOG played together.. on top of that I played with the tar enough that I had muscle memory for how the Bloom would respond and what kind of shots I could get away with and what kind of shots were a waste...
      I'll say though the m4 suppressor is the one I remember the most I think because it was the one that I didn't expect would be any good.. with the tar 21 my goal was basically to bum rush as fast as I could and then get around to a flanking position so I would either be face to face with somebody coming around the corner or having to shoot them if they were going to try to camp a corner and make a choke point and if I can get past that.. then the world is my oyster in that game..
      But I found the m4 suppressor ended up being just as good at that in close range situations and almost as good in longer range situations on account of how controllable it was in fully automatic...
      I know a lot of people use the l85.. I liked it in the single player but there's a lot of guns in the single player I used like the m82 etc that I never really brought to the multiplayer I guess..
      one thing I really did love about this game was they they didn't really care that there were vastly Superior guns and vastly inferior guns objectively.. just like in reality.. sure there are special cases and there are special niches that guns can fill voids in but in many cases some are just better than others LOL.. but they put them all in there anyways! And I love it! The balance is everybody can pick whatever they want..
      One thing I really couldn't stand were the c mag losers.. like for me the fun of the game was positioning.. not attrition in a crouch up and down circling and spraying mating ritual.. like I think there was definitely some some gatekeeping going on there and like have some pride in a lot of cases.. but I would usually do better than them so it's all good.. if it wasn't working I probably would do something else but.. knowing who I am and how I was back then certainly.. it's certainly wouldnt have been what what everybody else was doing, which I always thought was kind of lame because there were so many selections you could have and there were many options LOL...
      One thing I kind of wish is that there was reliability as a component even though it doesn't really make sense cuz these are probably coming straight from an armor and are in tip top shape.. cuz then the l85 would just be dropped off a cliff LOL.. it's funny cuz this game works on paper more than it does in a controllable simulation.. so it's paper stats actually apply and it's not a bad gun on paper it's just that whole real life problem...

      When the game came out the suppressors would reduce a rifle's damage by about half, so most people avoided them in multiplayer. As you'd need multiple hits on someone. But then years later there was a big upgrade and and they made suppressors much stronger damage (probably to make it more fun to use). And that's when I noticed more people using suppressors on M4, Tar, and even Type 97 (which without the suppressor was shit). I messed around with M4 silencer and had some success with it. But then you lose the scope I believe). It did have amazing recoil though for multiplayer for close quarter maps.
      I remember at some point I played with my friend for 101st clan. And we did a bunch of 2 vs 2 matches. And at this point I was pretty decent. Def above average. And when we'd play 2 vs 2 I would almost always be the worst player out of the 4. I was always thinking how the f can they be so good. As if they knew where I was lol. And then this app upgrade punkbuster came out to bust all the cheaters. And sure enough half the people playing multiplayer were booked. Including my teammate, friend, who turns out was using wall hack and ret lock. As well as all the other clans who would be on top. So that was pretty funny. I realized I wasn't that bad after all.
      Really fun game though. One of my favorite shooters to date. And although it may not be totally realistic, still more realistic than any other shooter like counter strike where you have a 100% health bar, where as here 1 shot you're wounded and gimping, 2 shots you're dead. Also peaking around corners was a brilliant idea to add.
      I played Rainbow 6 Vegas and enjoyed it as well but not as much. I liked the 2 player story mode. Like you and a friend.
      And I never played Rainbow 6 Seige. Is that any good?

    AUG + silencer, Desert Eagle. The two Accessories must be smoke + flashbang/grenade (every team member must have a smoke, every other team member have flashbang/grenade). Every other equipment is meaningless

      I would always run a gas mask just in case there was one of those people around.. but usually what ended up happening was the rounds would turn into a frag train which was actually really kind of annoying and just I kind of wish everybody just would collectively decide not to do that because it's stupid.. everybody would take six flags and they would drop them off all of them at predesignated spots that they've gotten good at hitting so it's basically like a mortar round.. it was stupid it was annoying and the only reason that you would do that is because you wanted a free spawn kill and not because you were enjoying the game...
      But I guess that's kind of like the adorable still having fun version of what esports has turned into nowadays I suppose in terms of the kind of nonsense people do for that little score uptick...
      Yeah some people would get mad about flash bangs the same way they would about gas grenades but I don't think it was even close to the same.. I would always appreciate someone that used to gas grenade though because I would always have the gas mask and that meant they were mine along with everybody else usually on their team...
      Which actually now that I think about it reminds me of why people would get so pissed about flashbangs cuz usually it was because he would flash your team.. because not everybody was on voy IP.. and not everybody really gave a shit about people on their team..
      There were definitely some some more pathetic play styles and they became more pathetic because it was essentially making everybody wait and you weren't really helping anybody on your team.. the guy with the heartbeat sensor you know LOL.. in the bathroom. Wasting everyone's time.. who usually didn't do a damn thing to help anybody other than set up his own little corner...
      go figure that 20 years later I would learn that heartbeat sensors were totally made up.. they don't exist in real life they were just something Tom Clancy was obsessed with and totally thought was around the corner at every turn and was going to be a totally a thing just you know in just a few years.. I guess they didn't they didn't get it to work or something LOL.

    Strange to me how they didn’t opt for adding ironsights to the game, especially when considering this game was a tactical shooter, as it wasn’t impossible, games around that time were using 2D overlays for ironsights while a couple even before the first Call of Duty game such as World War II Blitzkrieg which released in 2001 managed to create 3D Ironsights for their weapons
    The game however does have some really good weapon models for 2003.

      Well considering this was the first iteration in the series to even have a view model in the first place LOL I don't know if it was exactly a standard back then.. I think the year after there was a lot more versions of that.. but the the amount of polygons that you could push back in 2003.. also keep in mind this game was more or less in some sort of releasable State in 2002.. usually what a game would do in that situation was what they would do for a sniper scope.. they would have a 2d replica that was given some sort of fuzziness essentially that would replicate the optical pass through and also allow it to not look like a blatant 2D image LOL.
      in this case they opted to keep the the main format for the shooting the same as the first and the second and the ghost recon series.. but added a view model essentially.. it's only looking back on it now when you realize how good it was for what it was.. it always kind of felt tacked on.. but looking back at it now I clearly there was a lot of work that went into it.. I just wish they had some sort of view model sway.. that would have really helped in making it feel like it wasn't just a weapon video playing.. but I think also part of that was if you had been playing the previous iterations for so long you just kind of didn't think about the view model after a certain point..
      The idea of the variable reticle was to simulate what could not be animated at the time.. that's why it's so crazy in the rainbow six and ghost recon games by comparison to a modern game.. it's it's really not hard to shoot and and you really don't have to worry about it too much but you do have to pay attention to it of course.. it just looks scary when it goes super wide all of the sudden...
      It's a basically it's a role playing game aspect.. and unfortunately instead of adding more controllability and mechanical complexity to things.. we went the other direction.. and I'm still just excited if I have to track the red Dot and the weapon sites from The view model animation to the actual bullet trajectory.. that usually that's not even a thing and it's still a random variable with extra steps...
      The feedback for ghost recon was the culmination of not having a view model for years and it was so surprisingly good the way they animated the crosshair and the sound and just it's amazing how well that game works and still feels like you're shooting.. but this is better this is way better LOL.
      It also feels a little bit different when you're the aspect ratio has been corrected for and the fov has been corrected for you see a lot more of the view model.. so that zoom actually feels more like you're aiming in a pseudo aim sense like in the early transition era like far cry and fear.. and in a lot of cases I kind of dig that more.. mostly on account of how poorly modern games treat iron sights and view model animations in general in first person..
      Like I'm just happy if it looks like you're holding the weapon and would be realistically shooting it and would be realistically holding it in a way so that it's going towards the center of the screen.. but LOL.. apparently that is a serious point of contention nowadays.. what you think after first person awareness and full body awareness and whatnot this would have been a done deal you just put the camera where the head is.. but no but no no no no.. we have to make the arms retract like quatto from Total recall...

      @@jakedill1304 I’m sorry. but I couldn’t be bothered reading all of what you wrote, it was just too long, but yes they did have 3D iron sights back in 2002, the first game to offer 3D iron sights was a game called World War II Online Blitzkrieg released back in 2001 and prior to that games offered 2D overlay iron sights which can be first seen in Hidden and Dangerous back in 1999, although many games would opt for the 2D overlay over 3D for years to come, such as Battlefield 2 from 2005.
