Hope it don't develop a leak that often. In the winter the heat strips wouldn't come on if it was zero outside. So no emergency heat.

It's a leak sensor, if it detects refrigerant it will shut down and not be able to run anything except the fan.

It's red because it's A2L. Mildly flammable.
