Basically, part of France will be with these athletes forever. honestly, I don't know why the gold medals are not made of pure (or at least mostly) gold, with the games costing so much, spend a little on the elite athletes who win these medals. Ironic that most likely the most valuable part of the medals will be the iron used in the Eiffel Tower.
According to the University of Waterloo, the gold medals are mostly silver. 210g of silver plated with at least 6g of 24 carat gold. The silver medals are made of silver, and the bronze are made of copper, zinc, tin, and a little bit of silver. The Economic Times added that each gold medal must be 92.5% silver (a sturdier metal than gold).
