I love how Cold Steel makes no bones about the intent of their knives. So nice to see.
Im a painter by trade, and you've just sold several of those that attach to the standard thread....i have many paint poles that use that same thread, and ive said for years that id be awesome to have a blade attached to that....instant spear. Good job Cold Steel! now more variations on that theme please!

I'm sorry, but that upgraded Kobun in S35VN with the traditional lines is coming to my house. That is beyond badass, apologies to the haters. I know we are all expecting dog turds since the company sold, I get it, but I'll give credit where it's due.

They’ve got some pretty cool models this year! The Viking Seax, the Engage Tanto, and the new Swift are probably my favorites.

Broom spear is the most innovative. I'm loving that. I would have liked to see the counterpoint upgraded to g10 with better steel, I love that knife and will probably get the serrated. I just think the g10 makes for a handful that is a bit more slim and prints less. All and all I'm impressed with cold steels direction. Beamer is proving to be a solid leader with his humble nature.

I can't see how anyone could compare Cold Steel to SOG. I wouldn't give you $10 for the best thing SOG has made. People who throw them have broken them and shown what the inside of their metal was. Junk! Cheap junk.
And the S&W spear knife. Looking at mine right now. So Cold Steel has gone from cool spears to copying other spears.
that broomhandle spear tip is a stroke of genius.
Before my instagram got deleted I used to speak to cold steels social media person, I sent her a sketch of the folding Seax hoping they would make one!! I am so pumped that this came out can’t wait to get one!!
That boot knife spear is the best thing I've seen in years. I have paint pole extensions begging for that accessory.
SOG did that with their now discontinued spirit spearhead
@@wingatebarraclough3553 :- The Spirit Spear Head from SOG did NOT have threads for a broom handle. You had to whittle a stick down to fit the interior of the spear head.
This Cold Steel model is all set to go and at 1/2 an inch longer.
I have a 16' extension pole. I'll not buy the spearhead because trouble

@@blueeyeswhitedragon9839 no it had threads. It was basically the exact same knife. GSM owns both cold steel and SOG so they literally just put cold steel’s name on it.
I want em all. This will take up my yearly knife budget just so I can double wield the Mayhem and signature series Ti-Lite 6 just like how Lynn wants me to.

The Swift in M4 looks amazingly well designed, I'm really glad to see a pocket clip that will work right out of the box without having to put a nickel under it for 2 days. And the fact that there's a knife sharpening choil and the thumb stud is out of the cutting path show some real thought into this. Not to mention Cold Steel does DLC probably better than any other major knife maker.
My favorite is the swift 2 or swift 3. I like the assisted open and the second lock for safety. Blade looks like 3.5" or larger.
Love that you are not trying to hide the band-aid! I'd probably have one on several fingers by the end of that show! lol😁

They need to rerelease the original Recon1 when it was an axis lock. I still have one from 20 years ago and it’s still in amazing shape after being carried and used hard for ten of those years. But I would love a new fresh one in s35vn or ctsxhp.

Cold Steel once made a knife called the Culloden. I'd like to see that brought back. Updated and smooth edge.

A few new items and a few re-releases. I like most of the items on the table - depending on final sale price of course. Good to see some decent steel options instead of just 4116 & AUSxx. I might wait until I see some more detailed reviews before I commit. Anyway, lineup was better than I expected. Sharp blades all.
Gideons Tactical tested the Verdict in 4116 and in his opinion that simple formula, non particle, stainless produced out of a Krupp Thyssen mill performs better that 8Cr13 and matches AUS8 (IIRC). Not too shabby…14C28 gets all the love but maybe we should stop dismissing 4116.
Of course that makes me wonder if the premium Verdict in AUS 10 is worth the extra $$$…but I guess I want the all black and G10 too.
@@mdubb4855 I have made previous comments online that there's nothing 'wrong' with 4116 providing the price is right. Let's face it you're not going to get premium steels in a budget knife. If you're budget is say sub $50 then 4116 might just fit the bill. Have a great day.

Love the brand. My very first knife was a big Ti lite. Took it with me to a bike travel in Georgia ( the Caukasus one). Then sold it for a Victorinox with all the tools for outdoor. But now I'm going to buy some new large and scary Cold Steel 6)) Thinking about SR 1.
I’m liking the looks of the kobun I’d like to see it in a non signature series I don’t want to pay 200+
They have been available in aus-8 for years and go for like $35
@@laserbrain7774 ya I’ve bought a few over the years but the signature series they’re showing here has a little extra length and an traditional tanto tip not the western chisel type tanto but I’m figuring with it being s35 and being numbered they’ll be pricey but if they make them in aus8 like we’ve had I’d be interested
All are beautiful designs, but it's interesting how it goes from oversized novelty folders (sorry, but they are), to really pleasingly functional tools. Something for the collector, the practical user, and the inner teenager in all of us :-)
Still waiting on the 3" Engage knife he debuted at last year's Shot Show.

The Espada has always been a little too out there for me, but that Mayhem is a sexy knife. Totally digging that Engage as well. 🔥

The Swift is the real winner of Cold Steels reveal here. It looks alot like the American Lawman, which is a classic and well reguarded folding knife but raises the volume up to eleven with M4 tool steel and the new Atlas Lock. Must Have
I edc a 5.5 talwar every day as an emergency defensive tool. Obviously once I saw the Mayhem, I knew what my next CS knife was gonna be.
Will we see a 4” Ti Lite clip point? Not that I’m asking for too much, but the all blacked out Luzon would be a great color way. Thank you GSM for investing in new product and thank you Stick for going above and beyond a 40 hour work week and hanging out with Thompson. CS needs a supporter like you.

Smith and Wesson has one as well as a bunch of more generic brands. Surprised DCA has never seen it before.

@@samoliver8351 :- There are (or there was) several spear point knives on the market that accepted a stick or pole to extend the range of the weapon. The "hook" on this Cold Steel version is that it is pre-threaded for the standard broom handle threads. The others were smooth and required whittling for a tight fit.
@@blueeyeswhitedragon9839 I saw one years ago in the BudK catalog that advertised the same common broomstick thread feature. I don't think it is the same one they are marketing now.

Hey. On the Engage, will it resist “shake out” (a restriction in some jurisdictions), and does it have any “spring back into handle” - the TriAd is a gem in both respects. If the blade is jarred a bit while closed, it will reclose on it’s own, up to a certain point. PS Gideons Tactical just gave a thumbs up on Verdict toughness - yay!

If that competition chopper is reasonably priced, that's a huge win in my book. I'm glad Cold Steel is still cranking out huge, ridiculous blades under GSM's ownership.
If they make a manual version of the Swift, I'll be all over it. Heck, I may buy one and just convert it myself.
Coldsteel reveals are not bad, too. Kobun is great. The Swift M4 knife and the Tanto are interesting too.

Mayhem is also very cool but the voyager XL is more utilitarian (keep it in production).
Both models are very interesting but make the blades more acute with higher cutting power.
Even the engage model was super nice and exceed expectations (I have it, one of my favourite new models👍) but it has a too obtuse main grind 😔, low cutting power so the new models need to have more acute grinds, like the old triad lock models that had an excellent balance between cutting power and durability.

I've owned the Kobun in Aus10 since 2005 best edc fix blade knife in my opinion.
Viking Seax is nice. A 4 inch fixed Sax or Kiridashi would have been nice.
This is about the third time I watched you guys because it was so enjoyable to watch I own two a Recon1 and the lite 6" spear like the serated one you were cautious closing and I'm also but if you get a chance to play with it you will love it because it's so well balanced and accurate when throwing, and it will stick into an oak tree about an inch and half you almost need a pry bar to pull it out and it's good for chopping branches try it out you'll enjoy it

Okay, I see the potential for some of the things that some people feared might come to pass. Having said that, I like the introduction of the new steel selections. I love the S35, M4 - nice!!
I’d like to think that the Lynn Thompson (decreased) involvement will still help keep the company true to it’s roots. Having said that, some nice, big blades, and then there is the mention of the 5 max…
The 5 Max comment made me giggle like a schoolgirl... almost too good to be true but the 5 Max is a dream knife I have 0 chance of getting. Mass producing that would be THE shit.
