I have the NXR2 large - plain ass white. Love it but whilst it fits me well it settles further back on my head than I'd like - so I'm booked for the Shoei PFS in a couple of weeks - where they tweak the liner to account for head shape rather than the basic head circumference measurement. Shoei for the win ❤
The guy who sold me my helmet did tell me stuff like this but just like with the questions I'm asked at a doctors office, I never know how I feel 😭 I'm glad I can return the helmet I ended up buying if it doesn't fit.
All brands are different so a Large Bell might be too tight but yet a Normal Shoei could feel a little looser. There’s also oval and circle head shapes for helmets so you need to figure out which one you are. Go to a helmet shop and try a bunch on
What the industry needs is custom fit helmets, made to fit your specific head. Each head is a unique shape like a finger print. There are heat moldable footbeds for all sorts of sports related footwear (example: ski/snowboard boots). Why not custom fit helmet liners right in the store, like they do for boots in a ski shop? I'm looking at you Cycle Gear!
Mine felt super tight and comfy in the store, only 2hrs riding and some heat exposed the hot spots. You can't get a proper idea by just trying it on in the store. The helmet shape rabbit hole is deep.
Your head shape matters more than the measurements I have measured my head so many times and the helmet size I bought off of the size chart was always wrong
Also need to consider that helmets come in different head shapes. The only helmet I've had that actually fit correctly is an Arai Signet-X, which has the longest-oval head shape of any production helmet. I had Shoeis before that, and they always created a pressure point across my forehead.
The padding also wears down over the first few months so a tight helmet will start to get comfortable, do an actual fit test and don't rely on measurements as I've found manufacturers printing them incorrectly on the helmet and manual.
I think I've seen something where people put a rubber band around the a certain spot on the cheek pads It pulls it in, so you have two little channels where you can slide the stocks of your glasses in to and over your ears.
Wish i saw this before i bought my first helmet the other day, the salesman did an alright job it seems, feels snug everywhere right now, cant get any fingers in the forehead, and if i pull down on it my eyes are not covered, but if i shake my head hard i can get it to move around a bit. Hope its not too big.
xxxl gang checking in. It sucks big time. When I get glasses only about 5 pairs for me in the whole store, usually 2-3 are the same one in slightly diff colors so hope you like one of those!

Also check what shape head you have! Trying on a helmet in the store won't help with getting sore forehead after a 20 minute ride. I've had issues with both my helmets, due to the shape. It would be great if manufacturers did different shapes
I mean, just try a helmet on and see how it fits.. I sometimes wear an xs and on other brands a medium. So measuring rly doesnt help much. Otherwise great video and correct advice
