Are you interesting in picking up T2, particularly for $299? If you already own the cab, would you buy it again? Didn't get to it in the video, but the click/clacking guns really do add a lot to the experience....
I bought it on amazon sale for 349. cant get real far on it mostly to tired when I get off work I say I play it tomorrow I try get in game room on week ends tho

Absolutely worth it at 299. I bought mine at 399 a few months earlier. Even with one game this cabinet is worth it. It looks awesome. I've done some upgrades to mine also. Added a light up coin door, upgraded marquee, added arcade authentic Midway logos, hid the gun wires. And I also plan on painting the guns black. It's a great looking machine and the game is really fun.
Thanks for checking out the video! Again, for $699 we shouldn't have to do these mods, but for $299 it makes it a whole lot more fun/doable.

I love mine. Best $299 I ever spent on entertainment. I did two mods - hid the cords and painted the guns.
At $299 (esp if you can pick it up through Kohls), it's maybe the best deal in branded cabs. Thanks for watching!

I hear you Mike - in many ways, it's the biggest flaw of the cab. Even one more game, say something like GHOST SQUAD, would have been nice.

It's pretty tempting at $299 but I just can't pull the trigger as I'm at 1 maybe 2 spots left. I gotta hold out hope for Paperboy and something Sega Naomi.
Yeah, it's funny how selective you become when you start running out of room! This was my jam back in the day, which was def a big reason why I got the game. And, down the line, it'll make a very good starting point for a shooting multicade if I get bored with it!

Thank you kindly Chris! Well not to get too far ahead of the video, I made an all-new bezel for the monitor; painted it black using good spray paint. I then semi-removed the screen from the bracket and painted it black (using black sharpie for places I missed). The hardest part was figuring out where to place the new bezel frame, then making sure it was level.... The subwoofer is indeed plug & play (which is why it's such a popular option w/modders)
I might have posted this before, I was on the fence with the black Friday deals as I don't have a ton of room and just originally wanted 1 modded cabinet that would play all games, but I did end up buying ridge racer for $250 at best buy (they had 1 "open box" in stock for $50 lower than bf deal) and then I ended up getting the T2 from Dell because they had it for $299 but also offered a $150 giftcard with it, so couldn't pass that up. Now ridge racer has the board you can get from buystuffarcade so that was a great buy, and if someone mods T2 to play more shooters then it will be more than worth it. Now Sam's put the Legends Ultimate on sale and with their free shipping it is very tempting to get that as well, trying to talk myself out of it. They also put the Lengends Mini on sale for $299 which is a great deal, and pinball for I think $529 which I have and wish I had waited as I bought it from atgames on sale but then they charge that $$$ shipping which negates the sale prices
The price cuts have been crazy, but welcome! For me the ALU is still king based on size alone - if you're actually going to play other people in person (ie SF or MK), it's really the only way to fly. That buystuff driving cab looks fantastic.
@@evilgeniusentertainment well I was on the fence for the ALU at $469 but Sam's marked it down again just after a few days to $349 so can't pass that up. Also mini and pinball dropped even more, great deals for anyone wanting them
Hey JDV! Awesome review! Complements on the mods you did. Looks great and with everything, there are pros and cons but at 299, this is almost a no brainer! What's the height compared to the ALU?

I actually pulled the bezel forward on my Star Wars to give that effect n it’s incredible
One game is not the best value
But if people get bored this is a beautiful cab n can be modded easily to play a bunch of games
$299 is perfect

Hey JDV, good review and nice pick up at $299. I got mine at $399 and really liking it, like you said it is definitely a party cab. Was the recessed screen hard to do? Cant wait to see that video.

Edit: snagged out the door price $270 - always pays to hold off (the Sinden Lightguns w/recoil themselves cost $299 for a pair) Can't imagine paying full price and less than a year it's marked way down.
Early adopters pay the premium price for sure; some similarity in the camera & car sectors as well. And yeah, no way you could replicate the T2 cab for $300 and have it be anywhere near as slick.

I really hope the great Terminator: Salvation arcade game will eventually come out for one of these if that's actually doable. That of which I'd so buy in a heartbeat if so too!
I'm guessing not - the form factor of the game would mean A1up would have to use a much bigger screen, something I doubt they'd do for a 1 off game. It would be sweet if they did though....

They're like an AR15 rifle sized guns to shoot at the arcade when I did played it with my nephew at Chucky's Cheese lol. I love that game my friend! That game is honestly my top 3 shooting games of all time in the arcades! House of the dead & time crisis & the 4th wud be the jurassic park game! I wished they do it lol

When can we expect your mod video? You convinced me to jump on this based on the price. I was iffy about the Star Wars cabinet and missed the boat, not this time! It was down to this or put the $250 in Best Buy gift cards I was sitting on towards Yoga Flame edition or MK 30th. If we can get a deep sale on MK, I figure swapping the monitor with the Tulsa Arcades monitor kit will be worth it.
Hopefully have that mod video up next week. There's a lot of footage to chop down to size! I had a couple of chances to get STAR WARS and passed; hopefully a decision I'll be happier with next year when it's re-released in an even better form factor.

Oh yeah - I ran to my wallet yelling "Take my money!!!" That said, if I recall correctly, PD7 said that some BestBuys will still sell them to you for $315 if you are in person. But I don't know if they even have any stock left.
Anybody know if there is a way to add more light gun games to this machine? Even at $300 this isn't worth it for me (now it's back up). But a machine that can play more especially Operation Wolf, Thunderbolt, etc would be well worth it at even $600
As of now, I don't think so. It's been rumored that a hack is being worked on, but who knows if it will ever happen.
Hey man! Sorry to ask this here but am I SOL if I accidentally turned off my T2 during an update? When I try to turn it on it says loading and then stays at a black screen
Tony - I'd immediately create a ticket with A1up. You're not the only one who bricked their machine trying to update it. I'd unplug the machine but leave the machine "on" for a few days then try to re-start it. Given A1up's not great response time, it might be a while before they send you a replacement board (assuming that's what they do)
Where are you getting these for 299.00? Also, how far back is the screen recessed?
A bunch of places had them on sale for $299 from black Friday all the way through to the start of this new year. Yes and no - for right now, you'd have to put in a PC & encoder board to play other games (although a T2 hack is rumored to be in the works). The light gun itself is actually just a USB webcam (B Kong actually tapped a whole show using it as a camera). At this point I'm leaving it stock, but might multi-cade it down the line.

Virtually any encoded should work w/a pi or PC. You can, although typically you'd want to do so in heated water if you want the dye to take. Risky given the fragility of these guns.

why not just buy the original if you want to put this much effort into it?
Lot's of reasons - T2 is huge game, smaller can be better; finding a mint T2 for $300 is impossible (heck, finding one for $3000 would be too); and it really isn't that much work. I think I spend 2-3 evenings on it....
299$ ... yeah right, its like 1000€ over here in the EU. 1UP arcade only gets away with all of this shit because no one else makes these arcade replica's.
Well, no chance I'd pay a thousand Euros for it! Is the typical price for A1up's normally that high in Europe? It is interesting that another company making branded cabs hasn't popped up yet. Literally thousands of arcade titles still available. To be sure, most of the A-list titles like PAC-MAN, MK, and SF are already gone, but others remain....

Hey, it's a splurge no doubt about it. But the game was my jam back in the day, it'd be very hard to make a cab this nice for $300, and it lends itself to being modded down the road. I've played several games on it w/ my kids, wife, and friends and that alone gives it more value then some games. Worth it to me, but generally speaking I agree with you - 1 game is not (normally) enough.
I wish that they would make the aliens shooter, but instead of the gun that was used in arcade game originally they could actually use a pulse rifle.
Man, you add that to this cab and wow!
