I just wanted to thank you. Because of you, I caught my first rainbow trout on a fly today in the Guadalupe River. I'm a saltwater guy, and I've watched you for years to learn to tie saltwater patterns, but your video last month fishing the Guadalupe lit a fire in me. I bought a new renzetti vice, got a new 5wt Redington combo, and placed a order with Risen. I got all the materials I needed and started tying while watching your videos. I was using a Rainbow Warrior tied to the back of a Chernobyl ant, and caught a nice trout on my first cast. Ended up with several more on your RS2 BWO. Thanks again for what you do.
It's great. Caught dozen this weekend, including a big male with a hooked jaw, think it's called a type. Just got home and already planning another trip.
Pretty good looking fly. I seen a rubber band fly the other day that looked like a maggot or grub. Can you make anything like that? I would love to try one for panfishing. I’m about 30 minutes from the fly trap down here in rockport and was thinking about asking them
I like this pattern and am wondering how well it will work on eastern waters ( streams ,rivers, ponds, and lakes ) also wondering if just in case it can be tied in both lighter or darker colors?
Thank you! All flies are customizable. Change colors, materials, etc. I was going with light tan because I was trying to match the hatch to local caddis I saw on the river. You can change size also if you’re trying to match a larger caddis. If you have caddis in your local water I am sure it will work in the eastern waters also. Most of the flies on the west coast are smaller because the bugs out that way are generally smaller as well. Lots of tiny (size 32 or smaller) midges, generally 18-24 for mayflies/baitus, and 16-24 on caddis depending on specific waters. The smaller size of these patterns results in having to tie more simple flies that can be tied on a smaller hook without too much trouble. But nothing says you can’t use them on rivers in the east coast. Hope that makes sense?
Hey mcfly, been watching your videos since i started tying about a year ago and aspire to make videos of my own. Would you be able to reccomend a budget camera that will get the job done? Cellphone fly tying videos arent exactly ideal 😅
Well it depends on how small you’re gonna tie. I use this amzn.to/3OJvNod with the stock lense, and macro spacer rings here amzn.to/49zg5E1. It’s about all that gets in super tight without spending $1000 on just the macro lens
@@McFlyAngler you tie to sell, right? I was just saying, for such a small fly it might be better to just inform the angler that it’s an option although it’s never wrong to go the extra mile.

That’s awesome man! I’m so happy you were able to get a trout! Whatcha think about trout fishing?

I really appreciate the fact you didn't edit the video to make you look perfect.
Oh man I figured you all can learn from my mistakes more than a perfect video
What a great looking fly, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Your welcome!
Great vid! It was nice and easy to tie, already made 5 of them !! Thank you so much!😊
Cheers from Hungary!👋
Fantastic! I’m glad you were able to make them so quick and enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching

Oh ya I did tie one on video a month or so ago, to check it out. I mean it’s not an actual rubber band, I used a different material but same effect

Niiiiiicccccee! This fly works, I've been tying similar version for years!!!
Awesome! I’ll let ya all know if it works for my area when I try it.
Tying fly this small isnt easy but you make it look like it is! Looks good man
Thanks!
Great bug lil tip if you don't have razor foam for the small stuff heat up some needle nose pliers without grooves and clamp the foam
Cool idea thanks
ever tie or fish this pattern in 24 or smaller?
I haven’t yet, might try
Like a mini Puterbaugh
Oh I’ve not heard of that fly, I’ll look it up
Nice recovery 😉, I needed that on the Firehole this year 😬
lol! Ya I figured I’d put it in because we all make similar mistakes regularly
Neat looking fly
Thanks

Instead of cutting the notch, leave a note with the batch with tips and tricks.
I’m sorry I don’t understand whatcha mean

Ohhh ok, no I don’t sell flies anymore. I used to, but just don’t have the time now. This fly was for me not a customer.
