PaleostreamCon 2024 / The Serpent Rises from the Waves / Amelia R. Zietlow

Our last talk for the day came from Amelia Zietlow who led us into a world of way too large ancient lizard. Amelia showed us the surprising diversity of this group but also it's still somewhat mysterious and bizarre evolution and research history.
In particular we got to see how a new mosasaur fits into, and improves our understanding of, the evolution of Moasaurus itself. It's bizarre to think that mosasaurs might have happened up to 4 times but Amelia makes a pretty good case for it.
