I made a lid out of sheet aluminum to put on the top of mine and it cut the melt time down a few minutes. I also added a switch to the back of mine for easy on and off that way I don’t have to plug and unplug it each time I use it. They are great pots. Enjoy brother
I bought this same melter when my RCBS pro-melter, which is over 35 years old, began to lose some heating ability. I paid $84 for the Lee, and it works great. It may not last 35 years, but that's OK. It holds some 20 lbs., and I can adjust the lead temperature easily. Could a melter from another brand costing over $300 do better? I don't see how.
Getting ready to start getting gear together and start pouring my own jigs. Question: Where do you buy you lead from? Do-It Molds or somewhere else?? Stay Safe & God Bless!!
Thats the same pot I'm getting for next year. And yes the colder it is the longer it's gonna take. Also starting off new like that will take a little longer then normal.
I think it would be even faster if you put a mold over the top. I learned that by fluxing some lead outside in a cast iron pot. Once I was able to cover the pot, it melted alot faster.
Nice! I made some stuff for a guy in my bass club, and he gave me this lead pot, and a few old molds!
Very nice

That's awesome
Looking forwards to seeing how well it pours! I need to get some bait making done... BEEN TOO BUSY FISHING!
Works great
Now let’s get to making baits. I still ladle mine but have been thinking of a bottom pour.
I got one of these. It leaks too much, and I get too many incomplete pours.
Yeah I've had issues with my older one back in the day. There's things you can do to help
@That Guy Skimpy I'll look into it.
You can easily cure the leaks by the adjusting screw on the top of the metering rod.

Not sure, but I'm super happy with this one

does this pot drip less than the 10lb Lee pot
I haven't had any issues with it.
