Simmed to a Dura XA Equip on T-Mobile last night. Sideloaded K-9 for decent email, a QR code reader, KDE Connect (doesnt do much), OSMAnd for maps, and got a very nice app cursor working. I do most everything with adb on a Linux machine. An amazing phone.
Was hoping to see you type a text message and see how the predictive/T9 actually works. I have the DuraXE epic and the predictive texting is horribly tedious. It does not automatically form the most likely word as you type, but you have to arrow down and choose every word as you go.
Hey there! Check out my previous video, I cover the Predictive texting specifically. It's definitely not great, but I've gotten used to it. Does the DuraXE Epic work the same way or is it even worse?
Epic is WAY worse. You have to arrow down and select every word, often several clicks away. The first below is always the series of numbers you just typed. Brilliant, right?! A lot of basic words and names are missing and it does not capitalize names. Urgghhh it's horrible!
@@tannerhunt4704 no, although someone mentioned they got some form of maps by side loading. I haven't bothered with this. You might consider the Sunbeam Wireless phones which have versions that include maps, or the Light Phone 2.
Hi there, thank you for the informative video! I'm trying to connect my email to my Kyocera DuraXV Extreme, but it has an underscore in it. I've been unable to find an underscore key on the DuraXV. Any tips?
On mine, when I'm in a text field, I've been able to get to underscore by clicking the top left "soft button" which lets you select your text mode (Prediction, Abc, ABC, 123, etc, might be slightly different on Extreme vs Extreme+). From here, select "Symbols" and then go down 1, that should be the underscore. Hope this helps!
1. You must have 2 Step Verification turned on for your Google account (support.google.com/accounts/answer/185839) 2. Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords (or go to Google Account -> Search for "App Passwords" and generate an App Password for your account. Note the generated password as you can only view it once when you create it. You can delete and create App Passwords at any time. 3. Go to mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop (or go to Gmail -> Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP), scroll down to the IMAP Access section and Enable IMAP. 4. On your Kyocera, go to the Email app and start adding your account. 5. In the list where you choose between Yahoo, AOL, Outlook, Exchange, and Other, choose "Other". 6. Enter your Email address and the App Password you generated in Step 1. 7. Check "Manual settings" 8. Hit Next 9. Select IMAP 10. Server: imap.gmail.com 11. Port: 993 12. Security Type: SSL/TLS 13. Hit Next 14. SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com 15. Port: 465 16. Security Type: SSL/TLS 17. From here it should be pretty straightforward. Good luck!
@@davidvanchu Thank you so much! That worked for me perfectly, I'm willing to bet making a video would be worthwhile for others too. I couldn't find the instructions anywhere on the internet, I'm glad you were able to help me.
Looking to get it. Thanks for the videos! Can't wait for the review.

Any maps or navigation features?

Can you sync or connect via bluetooth to a watch to read messages? Like a Garmin watch or similar?
@@tinfoilgrace unfortunately not. It does pair to my car infotainment and I can get calls and texts through there, but not to a smartwatch.

Did anyone used this phone in Europe? Will it work there?
It doesn't look like it will work in Europe, based on the supported LTE bands.
