This is just so FASCINATING. If we could go back in time and bring that man to today (and let him understand modern english), how amazed do you think he would be that we're still using his numbers and his methods? He has probably made the biggest, most lasting impact on the human race in the history of mankind. Seriously. He should at least be mentioned when kids first start learning algebra. These Arabic books were translated into Europe centuries later and translated into Latin as Algorithmi de numero indorum, which spread through these books by Brahma Gupta and his contemporary great mathematicians throughout the world. Influential were the books of Al-Khwārizmī[3] (On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals, c. 825) and Al-Kindi (On the Use of the Hindu Numerals, c. 830). The system later spread to medieval Europe by the High Middle Ages.

The thing about knowledge is that it's a process. A long chain of discovery. That's why I believe we shouldn't credit one single demographic for knowledge but rather humanity as a whole. It doesn't matter which group the knowledge came from but rather who and how. Even prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said to his companions, "Seek knowledge! Even if you have to go to the far east of China to obtain it." We can clearly see he doesn't care which group came up with the knowledge. Because we are all the children of Adam and Eve. Allah's most precious creation because humans were made to be more knowledgable than other creations. So, let us all grow together as our father and mother Adam and Eve would've wanted us to.

There is someone who called Abbas bin Fernas, he is the one that invented the idea of planes.
There is someone who called Gaber bin Hayyan, He has been described as “the father of early chemistry”. And he is an Arab
I don’t know why are you angry about Arabs scientists, or Muslims that took sciences from another culture and tried to develop and improve them.
As humans we should take science from anywhere we can.
The result will be for all humans.
Same as the European that took sciences from Arab Universities.
And improve them to higher levels
    And [By the way],

There's a simple reason it's called the Hindu-Arabic numeral system. They had their origins in Indian 2,300 years ago, but were eventually imported into the Arab caliphates some time in the 9th century. Through the work of mathematicians in the caliphates, whether Persian, Arab, or other, they eventually came to be known to the Europeans. Eventually, they were referred to as Arab numerals, because that's where the Europeans got them from.
So if you don't like Hindu reference in the name, you can chalk that up to the naive Europeans not knowing the numerals originated in India. Whereas if you don't like the Arab reference, that is on account of where the Europeans got the numerals from. Either way, it is not inaccurate to call the numerals Hindu-Arabic, and is a good compromise for acknowledging the history of the numerals.

All countries invaded by Arabes have been forced to become Muslims or speak Arabic. All people from syria , Lebanon, to North Africa are not Arabs they are Berbers and had their culture only Spain resisted against the religion and language and Iran for language and kept also its Zoroastrian traditions. Kharazm was a région of Iran at that time. Kharazmi as his name is showing is from Kharazm. I hope it’s clear now.

A lot of Persians used to live in that region now called Uzbekistan. My ancestors also came from there and then travelled via Iran to Turkey and these kind of pointless discussions make me seriously wonder if I`m not actually of Persian descent rather than Turkic because damn people are such nationalists it hurts.

Al-Khwarizmi wrote "Kitab al hisab al Hindi"( "book of Hindu numericals").
This was translated into Latin by the name "Algorithmi de Numero Indorum" ("Al-Khwarizmi's Indian numericals").
Khwarizmi also wrote "kitab al-jam' wa'l-tafriq al-ḥisāb al-hindī ('Addition and subtraction in Indian arithmetic').
This was another work inspired from Indian mathematics which was largely in use until next 3 centuries.
Khwarizmi's "Zij al-Sindhind" (Astronomical tables of Siddhanta) is another work consisting of approximately 37 chapters on astronomical calculations based on Indian astronomical methods. The word 'Sindhind' is literally means Hindus living along the Sindhu river
Al Khwarizmi himself called it ilm ul Hind ("knowledge of Hindus"). But we call it "Algorithm" .
But western historians deliberately denied Hindus the credit & now Islamists are taking credit

You should be greceful that he include the name of what he's developing into a better and useful version.
If you made an electricity, and builds an electricity car, does that mean that the car is yours? Just because you made the first component?
      utilize your logic please.
Al-Khwirizmi learn a lot, developing something that are already exist into a very different and better version of it, just to made a greatness invention for human life.
And you Indians claiming that it were yours? Somehow I found a comment from an indian guy, that the arabs invade Indians and stole their knowledge, like what in the fairy tales is this?
Middle eastern peoples will always travel around the world to spread Islamic religion and life, and also in use for searching better knowledge.
Why you Indians can't take some peace and accept islam? You guys really hate them huh? Doesn't your religion tells you to be a peace and mind person? Your gods tell you this didn't? I'm not surprised if you were ignorant about this, since you're Indians, they will never accept any good aspect from islam, not even religion, not even their invention, not even their contribute to the world, and not even their kindness.

Fibonacci numbers originate in India, and were taught in Algeria to Leonardo from Pisa, who brought the knowledge to Europe. Another great mathematician is Arryabattha from India, who invented the zero and the "." for the decimal system. This happened in the time that the Romans were counting with letters. My friends, you should know something. There is no difference between an Arab or a non-Arab except with piety. We are all Muslims. We are one hand. We help each other. We stand for each other and face difficulties. your skin, but unfortunately there are not many people who understand the meaning of this and the enemies (colonialism) have succeeded in separating us and making us fight each other So as an Arab our education didn’t teach me this numbers were Islamic

In university, we were taught the difference between 'Arab' and 'Arabic.' If I recall correctly, the former refers to ethnicity, while the latter refers to something along the lines of 'under Arab rule,' or 'under Arab influence.' It can be compared to classifying the work of someone like, say, Ramanujan, as Western mathematics, even though Ramanujan was Indian.
I'm from the United Arab Emirates.

That makes a lot of sense. It seems similar to the distinction between "Muslim" (people who identify with Islam as their religion) and "Islamic" (that which is influenced by Islam). So there is "Islamic architecture", which is a style influenced by the traditions and religious ideals of Muslims, but a person who is not a Muslim could still be an architect who builds Islamic architectural designs.

Arabic is the name of a language. Under Arabic influence would be referred to as “Arabized.” Very big difference lol. Kharerzmi was under Arab influence since Iran was invaded by Arabs. Does that mean he is “arabic?” 😂

    • @mayedalshamsi
      @mayedalshamsi Рік тому +2

@@mr2phones_709 - Arabized would mean turned into an Arabic form. So, if you write an English word (like computer,) using Arabic letters (كمبيوتر,) then what would be Arabized.
I have no idea who Kharerzmi is. If you mean Khawarezmi, the famous polymath, then that's a dumb example to use. 😂
I was clearly talking about the sciences and arts under Arab influence, and not people. Your ethnicity doesn't change, every time you are conquered by new people. Can't believe I have to explain this.

The Arabs referred to them as Indian numerals, while the west referred to them as Arabic.
I guess it was the Arabs who popularised them, and the digits currently used in the west are from Morocco/Algeria where Fibonacci discovered them on a trading trip.

One thing really baffles me is that the Chinese were in contact with the middle-east for a long time. But they didn't adopt the Arabic numerals and algebra. As far as I know, Indian Buddhist monks went to China during the 5th century and brought Buddhism with them. Why the Chinese never picked up algebra and the modern-day numerical system is either a mystery or a huge lost opportunity for the Chinese mathematicians and engineers to further their knowledge in their respected professions.

    • @youbigtubership
      @youbigtubership Рік тому +2

It's puzzling, yes, but I think there is an answer. Your question is a component of the 'Needham question', that is, why the scientific method didn't bloom in China, but in the West. There are other components and I think one of them is understanding Chinese cultural pride in their language's ideograms, the aspect which they refer to when they say their civilization is the oldest continuous civilization on earth. The intense memory work involved in learning the Chinese language is a source of huge cultural strength, but it makes for pride too, which makes accepting things like 'barbarian' mathematical symbols more difficult.
It is no wonder that China has blossomed since adopting these numerals, but given the ethno-communist militaristic pride which now frightens so many people, I also reckon humanity has been incredibly lucky that China didn't get modern technological and military advantages before the West.

Al Khwarizhmi acknowledged in his works that they were based on the "kitab-al Hind", the book of Hindu numerals and mathematics. Most Arabic mathematicians freely acknowledged that their work was based on Hindu texts. The so-called "Arabic numerals" of 1, 2, 3, 4... are NOT Arabic but Hindu. At best, the Arabs were somewhat honest transmitters of knowledge from India to the West. Similar is the case with many other "arabic inventions", including Damascus steel which was nothing but wootz steel from India.
