This basho was tough for me. Because of course it was exciting to see a new Yokozuna; but I had to say goodbye to my favorite Yokozuna Takanohana, who is still my favorite to this day. But Asashoryu really brought such electricity to the sport for the next few years. I miss him as well
He was entertaining to watch, for so many reasons. Such a stark contrast between him and your quintessential Japanese rikishi. He was a bad boy in and out of the dohyo, and I guess that isn't really a surprise.
5:55、So odd that the commentator referring Kyotenho as a “gentle wrestler”in a wrestling sport lol. It doesn’t sound nice to be described as ! Especially when it’s against Asashoryu who is almost definitely the opposite lol!
11:14 kaiho is already on the ground while aso body is still maybe two inches off the ground. how is that a kiho win? i looked at it at .5 speed and kaiho's back touches the floor before asa does.
My favorite Yokozuna! Hakuho is Great, but Asashoryu is the most charismatic and passionate one!❤💪💪💪
Power, skills, finesse, bravado , makes Asashoryu one of the best and most favorite

Man! Don’t see that type of skills these days in sumo. Would have loved to go back in time to see Asashoryu live!
Absolutely a legend he is. I wish we still have him on the doyho!

Somebody might hate his attitude when he's in dohyo, but believe me, when it comes to his fans, he's so humbled he loves em fans so much
The bugger is really strong. He easily out-muscles bigger wrestlers.
Quite a character! Full of expression - very entertaining to watch.
And now his nephew Hoshoryu is the 74th Yokozuna.
He was beaming with pride during the first dohyo-iri.
unbelievable wrestling tempo if to compare with nowadays
Man I miss Asashoryu sumo..
The fighting spirit incarnate.
Thank you for the videos! See you in two months! In the meantime, in the present a cataclysm of events in sumo!!
I love his street sumo. Its fierce and effective.
I won't forget you, you're always be mine Champion ❤❤❤🇯🇵always take care a happy
What a beast power, speed, techniques at 23, 15 days of pure beatdown Hoshoryu looks like a kid compared at 25.

Does anyone have the missing post-basho piece from EuroSport with Asa's yokozuna promotion?

우승자가 스모보다는 한국 씨름과 몽골 씨름 기술을 많이 쓰네.
