I only read Beach Read of hers and didn’t love it so I was on the fence about Book Lovers. Well, I ended up buying it because-FOMO and loved it!!! Was so good! Loved the sister plot, loved the small town romance too.
I absolutely loved Book Lovers!! There is something really special about Emily Henry books where there is a great romance that develops beautifully, but also a plot where her main character goes through something hard that forces her to rethink life and how to live it. It's the perfect balance of women's fiction and romance. Books Lovers kinda made me spiral ahahahah, it forces you to apply Nora's reflections to your own life: what do I want to prioritize in my life? what career do I want? do i put myself or others first? why do i think i deserve/don't deserve certain things that i want? It was amazing. If i was forced to choose an order (all 3 books are so amazing so it would be really hard), i would say Beach Read was my favorite, followed by Book Lovers and then PWMOV. As always, your videos are great Nikki, loved your analysis :)
Currently halfway through this book. Loved how it started. Grabbed your attention right away… I’m hooked. Love Emily Henry and her writing/storytelling. Can’t wait to see how it all unravels.
I started reading this book and it's a great read thus far. I've always felt sorry for the city character dumped for a small town character..and wanted to know their story
My only complaint was that Emily didn't Show vs. Tell when it came to Nora and Charlie and their personalities. It was like she really wanted us to think that Nora was cold, but we never really saw it in action. She was always so sweet and kind and loving, especially with her sister. And everyone always harped on how "different" Charlie was... but he seemed pretty normal to me. He didn't seem cold at all. In fact, he seemed very emotionally available and tender hearted when it came to his family and Nora. So I didn't get it. But beyond that I loved the book alot.
I mean that was a point. Nora was never cold but people just assumed she'd be like that because she was so accomplished and organised in her work. The guys who left her earlier were insecure of such an independent woman. Even Libby assumed that Nora was being too harsh on herself because she takes all the responsibilities and if probably sick of the rush she lives in but that was not the case, she loved doing whatever she was doing.
@@ElleI8585 i don't think he's my fave only - but ONLY - because "people we meet on vacation" was my first EH book and Alex holds a special place in my heart 😂 UGH i love them both

Great book synopsis and book review! Love the comparisons to Emily’s Two other adult books. And I agree, they have been somewhat similar but thankfully they haven’t disappointed. My ranking: 1. Book Lovers 2. Beach Read 3. PWMOV Can’t wait for Happy Place🥰 With all that said, I would have been so upset had I watched this vid before reading the book 😅. It could be just a me thing but your synopsis/book review is a bit too detailed for the vid to include *no spoilers* 🫣
Hey Nikki , love your channel I want to read a book that gives me under the ocean or on top of it vibes , the raw nature , the weather above the ocean and all the ocean elements. I want a novel with a thrilling story in this water element which should be beautifully written and descriptive , if you have any recommendations please give .
Literally just read all 3 within the past week. Read them out of order (PWMOV, Book Lovers, then Beach Read). My ranking: 1. Book Lovers 2. PWMOV 3. Beach Read Excited for her new book next year!

great review! i havent read her other books but i feel like i need to after reading this book. i totally agree that i appreciate the characters dont do a complete 180 and slowly change in a realistic way. i posted my full review on the book on my channel as well recently.
I enjoyed your review Nikki, thanks for sharing with us. I had read the other two after Emily's latest. Book Lovers was great and hilarious. And it is not just because of the couple for me, Nora and Charlie, it is also about those all around them. I love a book where if there is to be romance at the core of it, there has to be a lot going on around them as well; the interactions of the main duo/the events of their bubbling romance had to have a positive impact on those in their inner circles (I know it's odd, but it's the only way I care about a romance). There was also great messages regarding how to overcome hard upbringings, dealing with death, sexism, miscommunications, family issues, small town issues, book archetypes and so on. I am nothing like the personality of Nora, and I love people who are like that, yet, I have had very relatable life events to hers. I appreciate that Emily wrote about those types of relatable events as not many people do. This was so good I decided to read the other books. One downfall of the book was this: "sissy.".. If my sisters and I ever said that, someone is being disowned. Favourite banter was about Bigfoot Erotica. I thought it was made up... then I googled it.... I am now like Charlie where I think I could have gone my whole life without knowing that genre existed. Fans of the other two books I apologize. I tried to like the other two books just as much, however, couldn't ever get there. I know folks will totally disagree, and it's cool People We Meet on Vacation made me wish I could root for the longtime duo Alex and Poppy in the beginning, and I enjoyed how Emily went back and forth over the summers to the present day.... but all I felt was that they really made poor decisions that REALLY hurt others and themselves. The vasectomy for instance... I won't explain, but I think most MAY get/understand (even a little) when my thought was "dude, you did what, and that's why? but you were with...?..." Redemption kind of came at the end for those two, but at the same time, they were just... they fell flat for me, it kind of was too late at that point for me. Kudos to those who felt different. Beach Read, I felt was way more about the death that takes place before the book, and I was intrigued. I felt there was a bit more of progression I could get on board with between Gus and January, however, in certain ways it felt more forced at times, and like Nikki I got a bit bored, even with some of the dark parts of book... lost interest pretty quick, though I read to the end. I think Book Lovers was the best. That being said I read it first, and that could have a bit to do with not enjoying her previous works as much, the bar felt higher at that point; especially as her characters' humours and wits were just so great vs the other two (to me), and that may have been my greater expectation for her other works
Just watched Henry do a promotion junket for this book and she came off as pretentious....with that said, I could not get through any of her books because yeah... they're pretentious, as well. Also, goofy and gaudy like those ridiculous soap operas my 80 year old mother watches on the Hallmark channel, along with HSN... 😂
Emily Henry can do no wrong (in the literary sense), in my opinion. This book was so good, so sweet, funny, and special. I loved the characters especially Charlie Lastra🥲 For me it would be: Book Lovers People we meet on vacay Beach read 😊 Also, side note: I’m usually the person who prefers having dual POVs in contemporary romances because I like seeing inside the heads of both the characters but I’ve never had that issue with EmHen’s books. I’m always so satisfied with the single POV because of the way she writes and the stuff she gives us readers to work with. Ugh. Ok imma stop.
You might like Spiral of Bliss series by Nina Lane. It has dual pov, follows the same couple through the series so you also get to see the day after the HEA and the day after that (in case you like reading about not just falling in love but staying in love kind of storylines or character arcs)
