Totally agree. I'm surprised it's not spoken about more. Palmer on RW will have time and space on the ball like last season. Ballers like Salah, Saka or Yamal would be less effective in the 10. Nico is having a difficult stint but I’d like to remind everyone that Didier missed a ton of sitters in his first 2 years in PL when he scored 10 and 12 goals respectively, 22 in total . Nico scored 14 in his first season and is on 9 this year, total 23 and 14 games still to play. Nico does a lot of dirty work, presses very well and is instrumental in many of our goals. His work in the first goal with Bournemouth was astounding. Dropped three for dead and thread a peach on for Palmer who couldn’t miss. Is also our only areal threat. He has to play, he’s always in the right place and the goals will come. I remember even Shearer ( not that I’m comparing ) had a 12 games barren run and Eden hazard went 29 games without scoring. Nico is young has great technical ability and will get firing again sooner rather than later, and we don’t have any alternatives that are equal or better at the moment.
The club has become just a portfolio of players and what happens on the pitch is secondary. It’s a football club first then a business not the other way round. We need to plug the holes in this team. We need experience in key positions in the team to help elevate this team to the next level. Chelsea were so lucky. Our first goal could have been disallowed for Colwill's second moment of complete madness and if Guehi had timed his jump properly and touched the ball which would have made Cucurella a long way offside. I couldn't see who was going to score otherwise and even the second was a complete fluke. Maresca has one way of playing which includes crosses from the wings to non-existent forwards in the box who can head a ball, certainly not Jackson and even his substitutions are like for like. He sadly is a one trick Pony with no idea how to make tactical changes to affect a game. It was obvious to anyone watching that the build up play was too slow, too sideways and yet nothing really changed. I do wonder if the board didn't spend any money because they are no longer confident in him or his methods of playing which could have buying players a new manager won't want.
