I used to be an Edgar Winter fan & knew of Dan Hartman. In the early 80’s when this song was a hit. I had no doubt that the guys in the video actually sang the song. I only learned it was the same Dan Hartman from my Edgar Winter love affair from Jr High & High School, ten years later, after his death from an HIV related illness in 1994 . Even then I found it hard to believe. I was in broadcasting for years and I’m fully aware singers & songwriters switch genres all the time. But for some reason, this was a bit harder for me to wrap my head around. Not sure why. I’ve always liked the song, too.
That's one of the most underrated songs from the 80's, from a similarly underrated film. Fantastic treatment of a classic. Thanks for that!
